as an outsider that hasn't played any of these games since 2009 it seems like EA shot itself in the foot again and again following the release of Battlefield 3 where it seemed like they genuinely had a real shot at beating out COD.

Exactly how i feel but 1 reason I DO know how to describe is how fricking moronic the gun choice is. Literally just 5-10 versions of the same gun labelled as a new gun. Like before the Famas, we got a literal weaker version of a gun that was already in the game but just automatic(the desert eagle). In mw2019 1 gun could be like 4 guns. Like there's fricking 5 "kastovs" that are hardly different. I liked in mw2019 that the ak47 could be the 74u, the ak12, rpk, etc. Mw2019 was by no means perfect but it was definitely better than 2022.

They abandoned MW2019 because it had an abysmally low player retention rate with people doing nothing but complaining about the maps and matchmaking.
