literally nobody purchased it, why do you think marketers are trying so hard with the threads here?
8/10 if this was an original game
6/10 because it reuses 70% of the assets from BOTW
I have never seen a more moronic first post
But only npcs purchase switch games. Are you saying there are npcs on my Ganker?
ITT we post the funniest bait we've seen
Much better than botw, I'd give it a 9/10. I enjoyed it a lot.
Is it better than Elden Ring? Hell fricking no, not even close. But then, what game is?
Next game going a bit deeper on customization would be great.
Would Elden Ring have something to offer for me, someone who very much likes the first Zelda?
ER does overworld exploration pretty well. BotW/TotK are still far more similar to Zelda 1 than Elden Ring is easily. But there are still similarities to be drawn and Elden Ring is a really solid game.
I think FS games are an adult continuation of what I had with Zelda as a kid. I can't describe it, I can't tell why, but ER reminds me so much of OoT/MM as a kid. Even though they have nothing in common lmao.
It's good but around the time the game came out I just got into DRG and that game is way better.
It also isn't as good as Eldin Ring.
>purchase
Huh what is this, some kind of science fiction deal?
I played it for 200 hours and hated it
Solid game. As good as the first with some improvements as well as persisting issues from the first game plus a few extra.
The bottom line is if you liked BotW this is just a second helping, if you didn't like it or you thought it was meh maybe play something else.
Dorf if he gibdo
also 2nding the boyfriend of eric always spamming his name being a total gay
>as good as the first game
So still ubishit?
>with some improvements
WHAT FRICKING IMPROVEMENTS?! Even yourself you say that issues from the previou game persisted all these years later. Nothing has improved or changed, things only got worse with more time-wasting copy pasted bullshit, shittiest "dungeons" in the series and the map expanded with areas that serve little purpose despite being hyped up so much.

Try playing first. And don't even say you played.
>if you didn't like it or you thought it was meh maybe play something else
terrible advice, I found botw very mid, and totk to be a masterpiece
It's fun
7-8/10
Ganon was pretty based for telling Rauru he should have fricked his sister instead of a Hylian. Other than that, it was mid.
meh. it's okay. doesn't feel like they added enough to botw to justify the development time or cost of a new game...buuut, I will say, since I haven't played botw in 6 years, I will admit I'm having fun rediscovering it. If I played them back to back, I think I would be a lot less eager.
>buuut, I will say, since I haven't played botw in 6 years, I will admit I'm having fun rediscovering it. If I played them back to back, I think I would be a lot less eager.
So this is the main reason behind the 6 year wait? Sasuga, Nintendo.
Pretty damn good, I just wish that the tutorial Zone opened up into it's own area with more content after you beat it, I really hope that they make a third one on new hardware and just push things up to 11, don't need to increase visual fidelity through the roof just give me hundreds of people walking around Hyrule town with their own daily routines and more places to explore.
Erictroony, why are you seething so hard?
Maybe I burned myself out playing BOTW, but TOTK feels more like a huge DLC than a brand new game.
It's okay I guess. Wish they made an all-new one
I didn't buy it and I liked it
Sky islands should have been bigger, Depths should have been smaller
Fun, I didn't buy it tho.
I'm thinking I'll buy it when I get back to work.
Yes I both pirate and buy games, so what?
agreed, emutroonysister!
Rent free.
shit i thought emulation was based frick but now its troony i gotta change my beliefs again now damn...
nnnNNNGHGHG OOOOOOAA AAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
aaaaah.... emulation has always and will be troony and woke ive never liked it because i have high t!!
emugays worship reddit and trannies, it has always been that way.
Dilate
I am currently playing it and it's a fun game.
I've been playing video games for over 40 years and it's one of the greatest I've ever played... it pretty much fixed all of the issues I had with BOTW
>it pretty much fixed all of the issues I had with BOTW
which ones? cause it didn't really fix any of the issues I had...they barely increased enemy variety, the 'dungeons' are still a joke and took backseat to shrines, they did nothing to improve the braindead combat or durability system, most of the content is still meaningless collectathon bullshit...
in fact, my biggest issue with this game is that they didn't address any of my issues with botw. If they were going to reuse the map, it was a good opportunity to flesh it out and really improve the systems. But instead they just slapped on a physics system and called it a day. Was your big issue with botw the limitations of the physics? like, was it really? cause I'm just failing to see what else they improved
the emptiness in the overworld was my major complaint. and the dungeons aren't perfect, but they're an improvement over BotW for sure.
and weapon fusing did a LOT to improve the durability system.
It didn't fix ANY issues BOTW had. Just ported them to the new game so people can pretend they don't exist because now they can play with legos and act like physics puzzles are something new and revolutionary.
it's pretty good
It was really fun actually, I’d prob give it a 9/10 based on a 10 hours impression.
also FRICK shitendo, FRICK openworldshit, and FRICK the garbage-ass outdated-ass Switch
>tiktok memes
What are you chinese or something?
It has far more content and is the better game overall but I think it's less cohesive and feels worse to play than BotW did.
The nuts and bolts stuff is just kinda there. I never engaged with it if I didn't feel like I needed to or if it would have been less convenient than just running or whatever. If it was faster to make an airboat to go down river I did that, sure.
The weapon fusing stuff actually kinda sucks, it's way less interesting than they make it out to be and ultimately you're just farming enemies for horns as a bandaid fix to the problem of durability.
There's a palpable feeling like a lot of the design issues of the game could be solved by introducing real RPG stats but they refused to.
But seriously, now that I can sit down and start looking at these games with a cool head, I do miss when Zelda got alternative with it's sequels.
This https://youtu.be/wuQmvBKLR8I makes me think of how much they could have done if they decided to make a game set in other kingdom/reality.
It wasn't the most fleshed out story you could imagine, but at least you could connect the dots from the lines of dialogue some npc's and enemies gave you, like Captain Keeta and Igos Du Ikana.
8/10 moments of greatness but too many problems to be an excellent game.
Best part is the ultrahand. Very fun to goof off with.
Was surprised how much I enjoyed the puzzle elements. Shrines are much better than I remember in BotW and I even enjoyed most korok transports when you limit yourself to the materials laying around.
The depths was ultimately a bit of a letdown. Would do a couple things to improve it:
>more level design down there. Make some areas densely packed caves/tunnels where you're forced to battle, build vehicles to get around obstacles, or solve puzzles (like opening waterways to clear a flooded area or turning on mine equipment to boar new tunnels).
>make brightbloom seeds way more rare or otherwise limit sources of light
>make gloom a metaphor for depression. NPCs on the surface are depressed or weakened until you clear the gloom underneath their town. Thought they were going for this, but was let down when I found out gloom = miasma in japanese and you don't every actually clear it.
Gleeoks were also a letdown after the first couple. Boring just using bullet time to kill them.
Would like more boss mobs like darknuts, boss lizalfos, or something new.
Worth the hype. Even if we take the poorly formed hate arguments at face value, the rest of the industry is so genuinely worthless and devoid of any artistic integrity, or regular integrity, that it still is worth being in the conversation as one of the best videogames today. Since Elden Ring is getting a lot of wiener sucking in this thread, I will add that it is better than Elden Ring, with its decades old technology, roll to win combat, incomprehensible story, and less refined approach to exploration and movement, even compared to BOTW. Elden Ring consists of rolling through enemy attacks, walking off ledges, and picking up items, just like most of fromsoft's previous work. It is clear that the two games are on a different level of interactivity, adventure, dare I say "fun," even if the visual detail and variety in Elden Ring is nonetheless appealing.
pretty meh
Report all mass reply Black folk
I emulated it and I tried to give it a fair shake but I dropped it after 20 hours, it's just more of the same shit i've already played in BotW (NOW WITH GMOD VEHICLES!)
Frick nu-zelda.
Getting filtered by a kids game. kek
kotaku pedo troons should kill themselves.
Yup, still GOTY.
Its so bad if I find out you like it I genuinely will not take any of your other opinions seriously.
Best game I've ever fricking played by far
covid tourists gtfo my board
Cry about it snoy
Game sold over 10 million copies on a single system and has 95% average rating.
It's a great game and popular.
It's good, but ultimately not as much of a step up from BotW as it could've been. Lego cars and weapon crafting hijinks are fun, but other than that hand powers feel really slow and limited compared to what slate powers could do for you at the press of a button(the rewind in particular feels very diet-Stasis, and ascend literally pauses the game for what feels like 10 seconds sometimes).
Map-wise, sky islands are cool but a bit too sparse. Underground mirroring the overworld and essentially being some kind of cave dark world is very neat, but it's way too underutilized and underrealized.
I think 8/10 is very fair.
I didn't care for BOTW but loved TOTK
I beat it in a few days and still play it every now and then for side content. I put down BOTW immediately after beating Ganon.
That being said, I hope we go back to traditional Zelda after this
I'm almost done, just beat the spirit temple today
Started getting fatigue after the third dungeon couldn't even be bothered to explore the desert properly but I played through BOTW at the beginning of the year
Started skipping seeds at like 150
Its a good game but I still just wanted a new map
its gonna be a ballsy move if they try this map again for a third time
Loved it, not perfect and a few things were major let downs from what I was expecting/hoping but overall the game has a joyful soul that's extremely rare in modern gaming. Thank god for the japs because gaming would probably be dead to me without them
What weapons/monster parts does the Phantom Ganon armor set bonus apply to?
bones. Molduga jaws on weapons and gibdo bones on arrows are the best with it.
spiked boko bows do huge damage pretty sure
why is synthetic man so influential on Ganker?
Because he's a contrarian and most posters here are under the age of 25.
because he's not reddit pedo homosexual

my frames drop to 40-50 in lookout landing and enemy fights. unless this is fixed on emulators, its gonna be a 6/10 for me.

>mass replying schizo snoy is absolutely assblasted by ToTK.
6 more years.
7/10 game
Didn't pay for it, liking it a lot, probably better than botw.
I feel that the hoover bike is great but will not be a thing anymore in the next game, or at least it will have a cooldown.
I hope the next game changes the formula, especially dungeons and shrines.
9.5/10 current goty
We will see if starfield can dethrone it, ffxvi and armored core certainly won't
I think ACgay is a farce
It beat out elden ring and is now currently my favorite open world game
Overstays its welcome a bit.
I'm not 100% it and I'm known to be a "rusher", but at 65 hours I've still halve the map to do. Its losing its magic a bit.
Still fantastic game tho
A game desperate for approval
I'm sure winning goty will help on that front
I can't wait to watch the meltdown when it happens
its a zelda game, of course journos are going to praise it
Yep just like souls slop
I still can't believe that elden ring got the scores it did, it was a solid 7/10 at best
ok
All of your Western movies games are being exposed by Japanese devs. That's why you morons are so upset.

>post-purchase
People actually purchased glorified DLC when you can emulate it or play it on a hacked Switch??????? Do NinteBlack folk REALLY???
yes, tendies really.
Kotaku pedos still assblasted nobody likes their shitty games and everyone loves Nintendo games.
Please don't post my wife here
sorry about your financial situation bro hope things turn around soon
Looks like the fall of constantinople to me. Nobody would ever have tought of zelda having a bad title even less the mess they just released. Only god knows about the s l o p horrors that await us in the future
Is this face supposed to be inspired from something? It doesn't bring any reference picture to mind
reminds me of the aussie(?) by the tornado
it's from some shitty comedy where an autistic med-student or doctor has a sperg-out about a transsexual patient's gender and is led out of the room, the show tries to present him having an autism attack and being removed from the office as unfair
I can't tell which character is supposed to be the good one or bad one.
the patient itself isn't even relevant to the bit, the autistic medic having a meltdown about it is the main character for it
Eric....bro, I know you and your sisters are traumatized but you gotta stop, this is sad
that image was already reposted that many fricking times? wtf the game just came out
Assassin's Creed syndrome.
Why don't mass repliers just get instantly banned on all boards?
very good game, a must-own for anyone who actually enjoys video games
I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't recently replay botw
>I AM A GOTY
Good porn, game itself looks pretty meh. I wanted more like OoT
Played the first game, didn't like it. Didn't buy the sequel of course
I like how some ship schizo was so mindbroken by the huge amount of cuckold art he is spamming shipping threads everyday
it was great. it exposed all the npcs as having low iq and no creativity.
how would you know? you don't talk to people
LOOK MOMMIE I POSTED IT AGAIN! XD
20/10 just because of korok abuse
Can't wait to see the eventual edit of that pic from link to whatever character starshit has once TOTK win GOTY
>starting a flamewar out of fear of Zelda losing
Really, anon?
I see only a few cultists trying to spam threads to have it present in the catalogue but so far even streamers dropped it
5/10.
The asset recycling kills it. Especially the enemy recycling. The game has all the same problems as BotW. Nintendo barely even tried, they spent 6 years debugging Ultrahand.
>only one (1) unique enemy to the underground
11/10
six more years
Next Zelda will take 8 years and still recycle everything from BotW.
shit, 18 years of seething?
Still no watching your shitty ass video, homosexual, frick off.
Liked BOTW, really good game.
Liked TOTK, really good game.
That said, I would like them to now throw out absolutely everything about these two games and do a totally original and new LoZ. I have had my fill of exploration, combat, and traversal here.
>That said, I would like them to now throw out absolutely everything about these two games and do a totally original and new LoZ. I have had my fill of exploration, combat, and traversal here.
Lmao, tough this cuck. Nintendo already officially shat on the old formula and after the masses gave them a clear signal that they will happily pay full price for the same game repackaged with a some new gimmicks, bit of new content and different plot but zero improvements, this is what Zelda will be from now on.
Opinions of non-gamers don't matter.

10/10 because of korok torture devices
It's actually pretty shit. I don't think I've ever had such post-completion clarity since I fricked your mom OP.
I put 175 hours into it and it kinda made me realize video games are a huge waste of time and money. yea it was fun but I could have put that time into a skill. instead I sat on my ass for 175 hours
and you will continue to do so
Actually it's a good practice for coding as a skill
Literally the best game ever made, no exaggeration.
Sorry, you bought the wrong console, Snoysister.
not even the game of the month
It is one of the greatest games ever made. Unironically.
literally the only zelda game i didn't finish and don't care to.
I got to the wind temple (which the build up to it was pretty cool jumping up into a storm), but ultimately it was just the same thing as the botw dungeons (hit four switches, boss unlocks, rinse repeat). I beat the boss which was either bugged or so incredibly easy i didn't take damage.
And I just realized it's just going to be this formulaic blah for the rest of it and just never went back.
troony game barely a DLC of the first game
no, the npc troons are the ones that hate this, because they lack the iq and creativity to enjoy this game
>finally acquire 152 shrines, get maximum hearts and stamina
>game says "haha, stupid gaijin, that doesn't matter, neither do all those elixirs and dishes you cooked up for the final boss with the Demon King. Now here's GLOOM and a crucible of enemies to fight. Enjoy fighting Ganondorf with three hearts all the time, every time! *laughter in Japanese intensifies*"
wow git gud unironically
not a valid argument, nintendogaf
the game gives you many ways to avoid or cure gloom, try them.
>avoid
sure, let me not get hit by that five wave Ganondorf's army like I'm Goku against Frieza. That leaves curing. Is there a recipe I'm missing somewhere? Because I have yet to find one. An elixir? Tell me there's an elixir. I'm guessing I have to look up a guide for that? Because I've had a guide glued to my left armpit for the 1000 hours I've already spent playing this game, guess it shouldn't be any different now.
theres literally a quest where you find out the recipe to cure gloom try playing the game holy shit
Not him, but it's possible to miss that quest if you don't talk to Claree, Lasli, or Nanna in Kakariko Village.
Ganondorf's attacks can still break your hearts permanently.
if you dont collect all the armour and especially the stealth suit you didn't beat the game
>Not him, but it's possible to miss that quest if you don't talk to Claree, Lasli, or Nanna in Kakariko Village.
KYS
Anon, you don't need the porridge to cure gloom. Sundelion and that veggie they grow in Hateno after you do a sidequest both cure gloom when used to cook.
honestly with Nintendo anally raping people in court over bootlegs and publicly announcing a crusade against piracy, hiring people or using bots to spread console war homosexualry that holds them on a pedestal seems pretty on-brand
Game was a 6/10 at best. Not enough meaningful content, just a lot of copypasta
Yay, it appears I have a void save. I am stuck with the hearts I have right before Ganondorf. I am so fricked. I can't teleport out of here because the game won't let me. Even if I place a custom teleport marker. I can't Ascend. Can't move anywhere but forward.
>Weapon durability in a Zelda game
Who was the brain box at Nintendo who came up with that shit?
koizumi i guess
Deku Sticks came before the Razor Sword and were the first weapon with durability in a Zelda game.
still koizumi
Biggoron sword, also from Ocarina
You mean the Giant's Knife.
Like the Kokiri Sword and the Master Sword, Biggoron's Sword is unbreakable.
yea but biggoron is used with giant's knife (yes i meant giant's knife)
No, you don't need the Giant's Knife. You get the Broken Goron's Sword from the Master Craftsman, then take that to Biggoron.
I am moronic
okay but the design of that sword is perfect
Played like 160 hours, overall mid, weapon fusing was a good solution to botw durability, got bored of building zonai vehicles after like 30 hours, only used them for depths and when was required, "dungeons" still sucked, shrines were okay but too many freebies, boss fights were decent, depths was a massive missed opportunity, the armor sets should have been in dungeons/mines that weren't just sitting out in the open, light root grind was aids and pointless, Story wasnt too bad for nuZeld, gorons being addicted to crack and dressing like nogs was pretty funny. Not bad for an open world game but went back after completion and played oot,mm,ww,tp and had way more fun overall on all four.
I started the game, got to use the new abilities to reach areas I couldn't, thought, "OK, now this is what was missing from BotW, this is great," ran around, saw some landmarks in the distance, marked them in the map with beacons, ding, ran around some more, did a shrine or two but instead of shrines being like a short sequenced maze or obstacle course like in BotW they're Construx playsets now, OK whatever, saw more landmarks, ding ding, went to the castle, the captain tells me I really need to talk to Purah, I talk to Purah, she says, damn, you need to go to tell the captain you're alright, I do that, Zelda flies, captain's like the FRICK, did you see that? GOTTA tell Purah about that. So I do, get the paraglider I didn't have when I met up with Impa so when she told me to just glide off her balloon I was like uhhhh and then opened Ultrahand and conducted telekinetic sabotage on her gay ass Sophie Blanchard bullshit and no I didn't just Google that, anyway so I got the paraglider, did some shrines I couldn't do without it which entailed some hilarious attempts at "rise and fall" where I jeri rigged two blocks together at a right angle so that it would boomerang off the platform when the switch was pressed and sail all the way to the other side but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how do that with me ON it, so I gave up and came back, and uhhhhh I think that's about where I'm at. It's pretty good I guess.
This game is mostly just a rehash of BoTW including the plot. I hope we're done with the Calamity era after this
I'd say the world was interesting but too much of the side content is copy-pasted with pretty meaningless rewards, but that would describe Elden Ring too.
100+ hours and I only just beat my third dungeon. Having fun clearing out the depths and watching my battery get closer and closer to max capacity.
Hoverbike kinda ruined the game and trivialized traversal but something like it was unavoidable with the vehicle building mechanic.
you have nobody to blame but yourself for using the memebike and playing on baby mode
>watching my battery get closer and closer to max capacity.
just wait until you realize you're only at half capacity
greatest game ever made, true once in a decade perfection
6 YEARS
Mid as frick. Bring back old Zelda
I kind of wish the game followed the example of A Link Between Worlds: a smaller polished experience instead of a bloated game that gets boring after a while.
But I guess we can't have small games in today's world.
Sorry for the copypaste
I think botw and totk should remove/limit gliding and make the world smaller and it'll be a near perfect game.
A really great example why is in the tutorial islands; there's a really cold river both in totk and botw, that kills you fast, it is hard as balls to go past in the tutorial with limited options and tools.
However with cryostasis, building a bridge from trees, using floating debris, making a raft, hiking up another other way it's possible but also risky and rewarding. You feel smart and rewarded for getting past that hurdle, everybody has their own unique way too.
Compare that to late game where you can just fly over it with a shield rocket then paraglide over it, or just climb up high and get across by paragliding.
It's not a challenge, you removed it by flying, it's not rewarding as much as it is a minor inconvenience you quickly overcame.
Many more things in the game can just be cheesed by doing the same thing.
Desert storm in Gerudo, where you can't see your map? Fly over it.
Bridge is gone to rito village? Didn't notice I flew
There's gunk in Zora domain? I just flew to the tower.
Oh shit I'm fighting ganondorf, yeah let me just fly up and shoot 10 arrows into his head.
Oh frick, I messed up and I'm gonna fall from this high....Let me just use my insant parachute.
If you fixed gliding you could make the map smaller and make it more packed with shit too, no more empty map complaints.
100% agree. I got the glider relatively late because I wanted to explore and refused to go to Lookout Landing no matter how often it was hinted at. My early game was magical. Every time I wanted to "cheese" exploration by gaining height, I'd have to get creative or build a vehicle. I thought it was a bold move to remove the glider, but one I respected because it forces you to find other solutions. Then I went into a shrine that obviously wanted you to have the glider, so I did story stuff until I got it. I've had fun since, but it isn't the same and you're right that 9/10 times I just rocket/bomb jump into glider. Less was more and I'm considering a new save where I never pick up the glider.
/thread
too bad a lot of the world/shrines are designed in a way where you need the glider.
TOTK literally buck broke this board so hard the schizo trannies have resorted to spamming monkey gore.
GOTY sad but true. I would give the goty to RE4.
have a nice day
Might just end up being my favourite game ever. Deal with it.
I already and still dearly love BotW. And I love TotK a lot more.
Erictroony, how are you so subhuman?
kys ACgay
I know this thread is mainly on the gameplay but I just finished last night and want to call out the setting as a mess. I really hate this have your cake and eat it too approach Nintendo is taking to the Zelda timeline. If they want to throw it out then by all means please do so. But instead they seem to cling to it despite filling TotK with very incompatible storylines that require dumbshit like "oh there's two guys named Ganondorf that did the exact same thing" or "oh when Rauru said he was the first king he actually meant...". It's a mess made even more frustrating by the fact that BotW honestly fit will enough for something "far in the future." TotK barely feels compatible with BotW. We can talk about the Divine Beasts and such disappearing but what about the relationship between Calamity Ganon and Ganondorf? I swear I've yet to see this mentioned in-game and to say Calamity Ganon is related to TotK Ganondorf is ridiculous when everything mentioned about him fits with OoT Ganondorf's cycle of reincarnation and defeat. What about the Triforce Zelda used at the end of BotW? I wish Nintendo would either completely reboot and say forget the timeline or put at least a little effort into fitting in to it. But I really wish the game just fit better directly following BotW which I now think had a more solid and well thought out storyline.
Impa literally tells you in game that Calamity Ganon is Ganondorf's malice seeping out into the world from his prison after you complete her questline. If it wasn't immediately obvious
Which then completely undermines BotW's villain while simultaneously being incompatible with descriptions in BotW which clearly established him as a result of the Ganondorf from OoT coming back over and over. I think the former is more important since ironically despite being a primal beast Calamity Ganon shows far more tactics and success with his destruction of Hyrule.
Calamity Ganon had 100 years without Link or the champions and accomplished nothing. All he did was sabotaged the Divine Beasts that are ultimately pointless in the final battle, take off half his HP lol. Meanwhile the champions actually fight alongside you in TotK.
Ganondorf's behavior is equally incomprehensible in TOTK. Link is out for a decade and all he does is birth monsters again, sprinkle some crack rock in inner city Goron neighborhoods, and make a double of himself that troons out as Zelda.
Did you play BotW? He's sealed by Zelda for 100 years. It's only very recently that the seal has loosened as stated by a NPC that used to loot Hyrule Castle. Also while gameplay wise I prefer the sages, in terms of impact on the fight the Divine Beasts do more (again, not necessarily a good thing from the gameplay side). Not sure why you're even bringing that up as it's not really relevant to the story incompatibility anyway.
I don't know about that. The last Calamity was a stalemate. Zelda's victory rested on the edge of a knife. The royal family was nearly destroyed. The champions were killed. The Guardians and the Divine Beasts were hijacked. Castle Town was vaporized. Fort Akkala went from being Hyrule's greatest fortress to its biggest graveyard. Link fricking died. Hyrule Castle went from the linchpin of Hyrule and symbol of its power to Ganon's base of operations. The center of Hyrule is a radioactive wasteland. All settlements rest at the edges of the map. I can't think of another Ganon that did this much damage in a single night. The only reason the Calamity ended in a stalemate rather than an outright victory for Ganon is because the power of the goddess hard counters anything Ganon has. And even then it was on a time table. Zelda was on her last legs by the time she woke Link up.
By contrast the Upheaval was fine but it mostly just annoyed everyone. Zombies. Blizzards. Mud. A crack epidemic. I mean. They were troublesome problems but not troublesome to the point that it rewrote the status quo of all of Hyrule.
>Meanwhile the champions actually fight alongside you in TotK.
Yeah for like one phase of the boss fight and then get btfo'ed by one of Ganondorf's shockwaves in a cutscene. Not much of an important and IMO a downgrade since they did less damage to Ganondorf than the Divine Beasts did to Camility Ganon. It must suck to be Mieru though since she's fought Ganondorf twice now and has taken Ls both times.
I just beat the game. It's indisputably to me the best Zelda game. BotW was like a skeleton for a good Zelda game and TotK is the real deal. Love traveling between different realms across the game, even the finale made use of it.
Final Dungeon rankings
Fire Temple>Lightning Temple>Beneath Hyrule Castle>Wind Temple>Hyrule Castle>Spirit Temple(Construct Factory)>Water Temple
100 shrines, 3 dungeons and 150 hours in and my thoughts are:
the sky islands are the best part, sadly they never have anything too important
even if you find shrines there they'll all be raru's blessings, and all the treasures there are just maps for something in the depth
completely moronic and unrewarding design
the building mechanic is really good but whenever you turn on a vehicle EVERYTHING attached turns on, you have no control whatsoever
if we could have a simple programming feature to adjust these things that would open up an infinite amount of possibilities and i suspect they will bring that feature in a future DLC
also for some reason the shrines in this feel underwhelming i remember in BOTW they had more interesting and trickier puzzles but that could just be false memory
one thing for sure raru's blessings are anti fun unrewarding trash
the worst feeling is when you work your ass off to unlock a shrine only to find out its not a real shrine and the rewards from it are never good
the new caves and the underground are just there to add artificial length to the game
its doubly bad for me because im a completionist and i HAVE to do all of these things even though theyre not fun at all and thats why my playtime is so inflated
i feel like id have had a much funner experience with the game if i didnt bother with the underground and caves
overall all of these things add up to make this game inferior to BOTW to me
still after i finish this playthrough i wanna retry the game without bothering with all the buffer content and just do the fun parts
that might make it more fun to me
I think for people who don't feel compelled to complete everything 100% caves are the best addition of all, the biggest complaint I have with BotW is there's nothing to find in the world map, you go behind the waterfall and there's just a wall. In totK behind the waterfall is there can be a network of caves that leads to a shrine or an armor piece or some quest. It makes the world complete to have interior spaces.
i can still go on..
i feel like the reward system in this game is so fricked because 90% of the items you get are consumables / can degrade
armors are the only rewarding items to get BUT most of them are reused from BOTW and you get the same hero's set like 5 fricking times with slight differences from every zelda game
its really amazing how they fricked up the only source of reward for the player
the physics/chemistry systems are still the highlight of the game for me but its nothing new and it feels like the devs didnt make enough puzzles utilizing these mechanics
i really hope that the main zelda team wasnt working on this game and the people working on this are just a shitty side team because this game is littered with design issues
Still haven't beaten it, there's a frick ton of content in this game and every time I start playing I play for 4-5 hours straight. Might just be the greatest game I've played yet.
Haven't been using zonai builds much as i much prefer playing like I did in BotW, but I'm glad the option to create is there, especially when fighting things much stronger than myself like Lynels and Gleeocks. Haven't even begun to fight their Depth Gloom versions yet.
Safe to say that if this were the last Switch game I wouldn't even be mad. If this is what the Switch was capable of at the end of its life, I can't wait for what the Switch 2 will bring to the table.
TotK is the greatest game of all time. Critical acclaim means all criticisms are null.
>Low enemy variety
Doesn’t count
>Repetitive Sky Islands
Doesn’t count
>Nothing to do in the Depths
Doesn’t count
>Recycled overworld just with some debris tipped on it
That’s a good thing
>Boring, very exploitable combat system
Doesn’t count
>No explanation of the events of the last game
Who cares
>Story has no substance and only exists for “epic” set pieces
Not true
>Shrine and dungeon puzzles can be wholly subverted with minimal effort
That’s a good thing.
Reminder that TotK is one of the greatest and most successful games in history. The entire industry is awe of Nintendo's masterpiece and it will talked about and analysed for years to come.
/v/tr00ns malding and I'm loving every salty tear.
Sneed. Your game is shit
Erictroony, why are you such a subjewman?
Having not played BoTW
I feel like I got more out of it, a completely fresh and new map, the depths could have used far more variety and content, I rushed all 120 lightroots as soon as I could
The sky is neat, but sparse.
The shrines are definitely my favorite part about the game, I kinda wish it was just 1,000 shrines and that was it. I'm always disappointed when a shrine's just Rauru's blessing, I get that getting to it "Was the puzzle" but it just fee like a missed opportunity for more.
Being able to glide everywhere and use flying zonai devices really robs me of experiencing the surface, whenever I need to go somewhere I just go to a tower and glide there.
Too often can puzzles, challenges, etc, be cheesed with gliding, and while I get that "Solving it your way" is part of the experience, it feels like it's robbing me of a challenge or a puzzle when I find a workaround.
Koroks are neat but I hate how long they take to give you a seed, it's the same problem Mario Odyssey, if you give me 1000ish collectibles, don't make it take 5 seconds or more to reap it.
The final descent into Gloom's Lair is awesome, the music is almost perfect, I just wish the reversed and chopped chanting would go away and just leave the player with the raw orchestra and chanting, the "Ancient" evil sealed away now becoming a reality, unsealed, as you jump into it's evil heart.
Oh and Ganondorf being just an oni rather than have more complexity or nuance just kinda disappointed me. They built him up like he'd have a goal but instead he gains power and just immediately begins to rot the world, rather than shape it into his vision or rule it as he sees fit, Dumping sludge on the world doesn't make a pressing threat or convey his "Desire", he gave Rauru shit for not using the full potential of his stone and then he just ejaculates on the landscape and lets it sit there as he does nothing bigger or better.
He didn't need to be "Deep" or "Sympathetic", just give him something a little more grand, his own castle or fricked up chunk of the map with a populace that is forced into submission, or even loyal to him. The Yiga were a good start but even they are inconsequential despite their presence in the depths and research.
The fact you can get anywhere from above (or below!) is I think one of the key features as a sequel. I really appreciated it having played BotW already, the really important bits are hard to cheese like for instance you can't easily catapult to the top of Death Mountain, and finding anything in desert while the shroud is in place and raising the lightning temple is a no good.
We have long moved on from Zelda TOTK OP. Final Fantasy 16 is the current thing. Try to keep up.
I've tried getting into Final Fantasy, but the games always feel so pretentious and are boring, imho. I much prefer Dragon Quest, 11 was a masterpiece.
Haven't played it, looks kinda shit, but the dragon goat people are hot.
the final boss is way too easy.
I hate this “everyone should be able to beat the game” philosophy modern games tend to have.
I really loved the fight with Dorf, him being able to use all your moves, permanently destroy your hearts, counter your counters and the bit where his HP bar breaks the limit was all kino. Dragon Ganon is a huge pushover but I thought he was a much much better setpiece than BotW Ganon. Also lol at Link once again killing Ganon by driving the master sword into his forehead, getting to be a habit for him innit?
>Ganker is the only place that does not filter criticism, so therefore it's the only metric I go off of
Gods, you're such a sheep being lead by the shepard of shitposting. You sound like a friend I know who abhorrently hates the game for not being a Soulslike RPG. Even I have issues with the game and it's bizarre storytelling, but I still love it and sunk 180 hours into it. The only people who care and only care about what Ganker says are hotheads like you who have too much blood in their brains to even think rationally.
>spend 5 minutes building elaborate flying contraption to get from one island to another
>save before taking off
>doesnt quite reach because of slightly misaligned fans
>reload save
>the contraption has vanished
You can frick right off Nintendo. First and last time I bother to interact with your clunky ass building system
>not saving it in Autobuilder
I don’t have the auto builder yet.
You really ought to rush it, it's a lifesaver. It really should be in the tutorial.
Recall your vehicle in midair, power it with a Zonai charge, or simply unlock Autobuild
>purchased
HE BOUGHT EET
You’re right but that doesn’t make your mass replying any less cringe
>shilling that one video
It’s basically BOTW with cheats enabled. It’s a pretty fun game, but it doesn’t even feel like an adventure game, just a big sandbox full of random shit to do, most of it feeling totally disconnected from everything else. BOTW felt like grand adventure game, where exploration and discovery were actually rewarding - here it’s way too easy to get absolutely anywhere with all of the downright broken tools at your disposal.
Like I said, it’s fun, but it’s hard not to be disappointed by it. I was hoping for BOTW but with more things to uncover, instead I got BOTW but with some whacky physics builder tacked on.
I disagree, all the regional story, the local dungeons and interconnecting side stories make the game feel way more like a grand cross country adventure than botw. Botw world fields much more insulated from each other.
To each their own. For me, the fact it’s so easy to get absolutely anywhere removes the cross country adventure element entirely.
>botw was actually rewarding whereas totk isn't
What an insane opinion. There's simply less in botw; less weapons, less quests, less characters and characterization, less to explore, less diverse biomes. More small collectibles to exchange for gear and power. I cannot see how in comparison the rewards in TotK are worse than BotW whatsoever.
The act of exploring in BOTW is more engaging, that’s it. Getting somewhere actually took work, as opposed to being able to launch virtually launch yourself right to it. When you first got to Zora’s Domain in BOTW, it felt like an achievement. In TOTK, it was so trivial that they might as well have just let me teleport there from the outset. That’s not even taking into consideration that it’s an area that’s copy and pasted directly from BOTW, so the element of discovery is completely gone.
I don’t argue TOTK has more content, it’s just less engaging in my opinion. Partly because the game is so broken, and partly because 70% of the content is literally 1:1 copied from BOTW.
>botw exploration more engaging
I don't see how. You have pretty much the exact same options in TotK plus more.
>when you first got to Zora's domain it was an achievement (in botw)
Yes, but the overworld isn't the only biome in TotK. I suspect it was made intentionally easier to access those areas because there are extended questlines that require you to go to different parts of the region to complete the main quest, and because players have already explored that region. The sense of exploratory achievement gained during your adventure is mostly found in the Depths and the Sky Islands.
>copied and pasted directly from botw
I was going to let this slide because it is actually true for the Zora domain, but...
>the game is so broken
>70% of content is literally 1:1 copied from botw
I no longer believe that you've actually played it.
>Sky Islands
Very optional besides the tutorial and most are some variation of carry the crystal
>Depths
Waste of time after central mine
All that’s left is what they recycled from BotW + the caves. I do like the caves but I’d say that guy’s assessment of 70% reused environments is spot on
>very optional
They have the majority of Zonai capsule dispensers and Sage's wills.
>waste of time after central mine
You literally have to visit them for dungeons, earning Zonaite, upgrading your battery, and it has some of the best weapons in the game
So I'm gonna point you right back to my post where I say I don't believe you've played the game
>They have the majority of Zonai capsule dispensers and Sage's wills
Who cares
>Depths have dungeons
That’s true enough, they are quite distinct from the rest of the depth though. Just like I don’t count shrine interiors as being their own space I don’t think of somewhere like fire temple interior as being part of the depths given how they’re nothing alike.
I’d really like to know how amazing the depths weapons are too. I got a few of them before I realised that area was pointless but they’re not that much better.
I really wouldn’t count hitting green rocks with hammers to upgrade the anti-fun battery as a win for the depths but if that’s your idea of gripping content then go ahead.
>who cares
I accept your concession on this point.
>dungeons are distinct from the depths
Not really, the aesthetics are light against the darkness in both the Fire and Spirit temples, but I agree they are both good dungeons.
>how good are the weapons
Pretty much any weapon you find in the overworld but with 7-12 extra base strength. Or any of the other buffs. Often a mix of both.
>hitting green rocks with a hammer to upgrade anti-fun battery
Once again reductive as frick, most Zonaite are not even gathered from rocks, or you hit them with any number of the various bombs you are given by Sage abilities and items. But of course the fact remains that the majority of Zonaite are gathered from enemies, not rocks, so it's no more tedious than looting literally any other enemy in the game.
You have the same exploration options in TOTK, but there’s no point exploring the “hard” way (a-La BOTW) because the new TOTK features make it feel like a waste of time. Why travel on horseback when you can just fling yourself somewhere?
>depths and the sky islands
Both shallow as frick. Again, most sky islands are absolutely trivial to get to once you have enough Zonai charges (and you can have enough within hours of playing), and there’s rarely anything worthwhile to find once you get to them. I admit this was an issue in BOTW too, but my counter would be that like I said before, the act of actually getting to the destination was more engaging. In TOTK it’s just “build this thing and let it fly you there”. The depths have the exact same issue, it’s trivial to explore, even the darkness is a total non issue since brightbloom seeds are everywhere, and there are lightroots every 2 minutes. The depths were what I was most excited for, and was most disappointed by. It should be relentlessly difficult down there, but like everything else it’s way too easy to traverse.
>implying 70% of the content isn’t lifted from BOTW
Get your head out of your ass. The core gameplay is exactly the same. Most of the 3d assets are identical. The overworld is virtually identical. Most of the enemies are the same. Obviously the depths are massive and “new”, but at the end of the day it’s just a dark version of the BOTW overworld, so I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s 50% new content. The sense of de ja vu playing this game is absolutely off the charts.
>why travel on horseback when you can fling yourself everywhere
It's fast, consistent, can be accessed almost anywhere, doesn't despawn after completing a cave or shrine or walking 20 feet, and it offers a fun combat alternative.
>depths and sky islands are shallow
>sky islands have nothing worthwhile
Besides Sage's wills and like 70% of Zonai capsule dispensers? Not to mention shrines?
>excusing BotW lack of rewards because it's harder to get to objectives
If anything those are two negatives. You call the parts of the game that provide traversal challenges bad and pointless yet it's exactly what you're asking for.
>in TotK it's just build this thing and fly there
In BotW it's just spam Revali's gale and stamina food. Way less engaging. You have to make your own challenge in kids games.
>Depths should be relentlessly difficult
They are an adequate level of difficulty. You consume roughly twice as much food and face enemies that require smart resource usage. Not to mention that all of the hardest bosses/boss gaunlets are in the Depths and it provides several rematches against the regional bosses that are harder. It can't be prohibitively hard since it's a kids game, but try not eating any food until you hit a lightroot. Make your own challenge.
>implying 70% of the content isn't lifted from botw
It isn't. Even the content you call copy pasted isn't truly, it's just assets being tweaked and reused. Dismissing the depths as "dark overworld" shows you haven't really explored them enough to appreciate how different they are from the overworld. You just want to be reductive and say the new shit is bad/not worthwhile and the rest is copied and pasted.
They doubled down on their mistakes with no dungeons and weapon durability, but it's still the best and most immersive Zelda game ever made.
Good but not GOTY material
Reminder that the Twilight Princess manga basically confirms there is no timeline split by stating that they erased the bad future of oot from happening.
After the shit show ff16 is, TOTK is confirmed GOTY
Why is FF16 a shitshow now? Didn't think it has even come out.
BotW is the reason I originally bought my switch and this game is a fantastic reminder why I'm glad I have one.
Maybe I was just in a mindset for a game like this, but I haven't played anything else since I got it. Granted that was only since Monday, but still. Been awhile since a game got me this excited.
Hands down my favorite moment of my playthrough was getting the master sword, was a bit of a happy accident. Was two dungeons in and wanted to switch things up. Started doing the glyph quest for the memories. Now I already knew about Zelda thanks to spoilers online but that was about the extent of it. So got all the memories and the cutscene plays and I recall in the spoilers, people were trying to track the dragon. Had no idea why though. Teleported to the closest tower but was way too far off. Luckily there was a sky island nearby I landed on to regain stamina. Turns out there was also a fully intact aircraft ready to go. Used it to close the gap between me and the dragon, still not having a clue what I was doing, so I shot it thinking I needed scales or something. Maybe the shards on its back? Landed on its face of all places. Oh hey, that's a weird looking horn... Okay we holding A now. I just barely had enough stamina. Hardly halfway through the game and I just stumble on this shit. It was an incredible feeling. Then later on I got a chuckle when the game was ready for me to go get the sword, but I already had it. Quest just auto completed.
Been playing the frick outa this game and there's still so much more to do.
I’m a huge zelda fan and i haven’t cared for zelda since skyward sword
I don’t like the direction they went it
>he doesn't realize his entire worldview has been shaped by contrarian edgelords and culture warrior morons shitposting on a Kazakhstani fingerpainting forum
Ironic, looks like anon was the one getting groomed the whole time......
i’m bored with it, but it’s not the games fault.
Honestly? I thought it was worse than SS and I liked botw. I do not understand where the hype for this game is coming from. I think people played this game for 10 hours and wrote it was a masterpiece and never touched the game again. I played the game for 100+ hours and completed it. It's just really not that great. It's got so many problems. I probably would like it a lot more if it was sold like an expansion and not presented like an entirely new game.
It’s a 7/10 game with the original being an 8/10
Best Zelda game.
where's ALTTP you poser?
I have all the Zelda games. I'm a true Zelda fan. Some games are better than others.
it's getting goty.
Your non-opinion won't change that fact.
