Putting in large amounts of numbers quickly and with less errors. Supper useful for any company dealing with numbers... Like every company ever that buys/sells stuff and has paid workers.
Furthermore its very useful in 3D applications.
And finally, its by far the best way to input "Alt + keycode" symbols. New versions of Windows are minimum effort spyware - you cannot input keycodes using normal number rows anymore. This happens very often - something as simple as degree symbol is a pain to add nowadays without numpad.

Being able to punch numbers in at your standard typing speed is a godsend when you actually need to start punching in numbers. Any game that lets you put shit on the market board feels much better with it. Any game that's complicated enough to have a spreadsheet of any information flows much quicker once you learn 10key. You want to minmax your damage output? Your calculator works a lot faster on keypad. 10key is stickshift for your keyboard, anybody that really uses their keyboard for fun wants one.
They're also great for keybinds for more complicated games, too. In Skyrim, I had a mod and used a keypad to grab and pose objects in the world so I could take fancy screenshots. Someone else said they're critical for doing anything silly with Garry's Mod, I agree.

I'm emulating very old PC games, good luck playing anything with the number row without going through the effort of remapping it all with a 3rd party tool.
Hell even the bog-standard numpad isn't enough at times.
Also it just types numbers faster, is useful for a variety of professional software and is good for hotkeys. You're not snipping my keyboard.

Keypads make entering numbers 100x easier than the 1-9 in a straight line. Also it's nice to have keybinds for things you don't use that often but still want bound (hide ui, take screenshot, toggle walk etc)

I like the extra desk space. I sometimes shift around and sit like a homosexual so the keyboard needs to be in a lot of places where I find it comfy.
Used to be a big numpad gay but honestly my computer already keeps the credit card numbers saved and I don't use the calculator that much on the gaming desktop anyway. I think for gaming I used it for Garry's Mod thrusters in 2005 and typing in key locks in some games but not much else.

There was a day TKL was less. Like the same model without a numpad was cheaper. Maybe it's still like that, I don't know, the current chink TKL I have now was cheaper than the same model with the keypad.

Never saw the point in a numpad, but then I'm not a monkey doing data entry work so the 5 times a day I have to type a number are easy enough to do with the number row instead. My keyboard has a numpad on the side legends I can access by holding a function key, but I've never used it.

75% is the best layout. Having the arrow cluster right on the edge of the board makes finding it easier than the stupid 94% or whatever it is they call that smooshed numpad board, same with page up/down. TKL is stupid, I don't like the gap from arrow keys to shift/ctrl. For RPG maker games, 75% gives you all the controls you need one handed, which is super useful.

No idea how it would make programming faster, unless you manually type in numbers for minutes at a time while programming, in which case, refer to my post for a solution

So you admit numpad has good use. Its great if you cant make a program to do stuff for you. Considering over 90% people dont know how to program stuff (holds true for both US and EU), you just admitted numpad is useful for vast majority of people. Those who dont need it are a marginal group. Most benefit from it.

Yeah, just like apple products have a good use for braindead people who don't want to learn about the tool they're using. If you can't even use a simple scripting language by plumbing together code from stack overflow, something an 80 IQ pajeet is able to do, then you shouldn't be using a computer.

            Anonymous

homie, making eating utensils, or warmth, or electricity isnt difficult. However you arent making those from scratch because it isnt worth it. Similarly it doesnt make for a person hired for doing something else than programming to learn making programs from a scratch. Yes, you'll gain short-term benefits IF your software allows running arbitrary code (spoiler: highly likely they dont, as this would be ridiculous security risk). If not, you have to clear things with management. Now they know you could automate your work away. What do you think happens next? They pat you on the back and pay you for 8 hours of work forever when they know all you do is press <run program>? Time well spent.

You only see "this problem could be solved with a program". Yes, it could. But for vast majority who dont specialize in programming, learning how code works, learning a new language and being competent enough to (safely) jury-rig other people's code for your purposes isnt sensible. A boring job is better to have than no job at all.

              Anonymous

Ask yourself: why do we have a caste of office drones whose work is completely useless because one guy could automate it all away? Imagine if we kept all the horses around after we invented cars, because else they'd be sad or something.
You simply have no business being around a computer if all you do is use it as a glorified clipboard to write down shit nobody cares about. Just like you don't strap horses in front of your car and have them pull the car instead of using the goddamn motor.
Automate that adult daycare away. Total wagie death.

The buttons are oriented and shaped in a way that you can really just roll your thumb over them rather than having to do any flexing motion. I've been using it for almost a decade and I can't imagine going back.

I use one of these to play final fantasy. It works great for stuff like that that has slow cooldowns between actions, but for action games or shit like that you're better off using a shooting macro on a single button.

This thing is unironically amazing at the price point. I thought it was gonna break, but it's lasted over a year pretty vigorously and none of the paint is coming off the buttons yet and it still looks nice. The top of it does have a weird texture though and makes my hands sweat, but I could probably just buff it flat.. You could probably knock someone out with it if you use it like a flail. It's a lot better than it looks. It's pretty big, so are my hands, and it's perfect. Realize I'm simping for a mouse, but honestly I want them to make money and make more products.

I actually haven't even had to think about that. The gaps are so small that I've been able to get finger cheese out with a thumb nail and it really doesn't get in there, it kinda builds up on the back where your palm is... It doesn't look like this thing comes apart. A toothbrush would work 100% on this thing though. It's pretty flush besides that gap in the back but its not like that on the other side at all.. Did I mention it's like $33 for the wired one on Amazon?

I find that having a discrete numberpad / macropad of some sort is a far better solution then sticking one to the right side of the keyboard as a legacy solution to a use case most don't have any longer. Frankly, with a decent open firmware and macro/config system (QMK/VIA, ZMK, Bazecor) , you're better off with a 60% - 75% keyboard in most cases as most of the other keys (ins/del/pgup/pgdn,print screen, scroll lock, etc) are rarely used and superfluous, better served by simply swapping into a layer if they're needed.

I'm all in favor of extra buttons on the mouse, but the side-body grid layout was always shitty. You had to essentially disable a button to use as a thumb rest and grip/lift area. I'd rather have buttons layed out differently and/or elsewhere on the mouse.

Ive been using microsoft wired 600 for over decade. Couple years ago I bought another one just in case current breaks, but it has some slight changes and I keep using old one.
I'm not really interested in rgb and I think mechanical keyboards are loud. What would be best (but still reasonably) priced premium keyboard with more macro buttons or some functions?

Personal preference. I have a TKL but a seperate numpad on the left for macros, keybinds etc.

I disagree. Practically, left side would be better due to the fact you retain mouse control. Arrow keys don't let you change fields or anything of the sort, and tab field switching is unreliable.

          Anonymous

It took me a day to learn to use a left handed mouse. Your thumb can articulate in a way that makes use of the the four arrow keys which btw can be rebound. They’re isolated from other keys which makes it less likely that you’ll press anything else by accident

Numpads should be on the left side of the keyboard. You should not have to dislocate your left shoulder or take your right hand off the mouse to use a numpad. I got a TKL and put a usb numpad on the left, never looked back.

      Anonymous

Why would you take your hand off the keyboard when it's already there, and you can also hit enter on a right-side numpad with your thumb to open chats.

My left shoulder is fine. Have you considered maybe stretching or maybe standing up and maybe walking at least a little?

Only if you can program the knob.
Some shit I have programmed my dial for
      >Tab cycling
      >Desktop cycling
      >Volume control
      >Ganker captcha scrolling (hold shift to tab between text boxes/buttons on post box)
      >Danbooru next/prev page (hold shift to cycle tabs)
      >Video frame stepper
      >Cursor up/down or left/right (hold shift to switch to the opposite of whatever is enabled)
      >Scroll between all Ctrl+F results

Just make sure you can actually program it. Stuff like VIA and QMK configurator didn't have support for programming the dial when I made this keyboard.
It isn't that hard to program manually, but it isn't as nice and convenient as a GUI
