>Nvidia’s surge past $1 trillion market cap puts it alongside household names Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Alphabet.
>The company’s powerful H100 chips cost around $40,000. They’re being swept up by Microsoft and OpenAI by the thousands.

But Ganker said AI is a fad and Nvidia will have lower prices for consumer GPUs???

whoever said ai is a fad is a complete moron, don't blame it on the entire board

the moron thing is that the AI bubble already popped up a while ago, no one is using the AI start ups but instead createing their own, all those companies are collapsing becuase Ai is not at the point where more power equals better results

Nah you're probably gonna say that no profit = not successful no matter how large they are growing.

        >all those companies are collapsing becuase Ai is not at the point where more power equals better results
        gpt4 says otherwise
the real problem is it takes real fricking skill to actually make something to compete with openai

What is GPT4 actually being used for right now that is so profitable? Buzzfeed articles? Call Centers?

OpenAI is literally losing money on GPT-4 operation

you absolute mongrel, I desperately need a good card to get better results, and that's just for generating scraps off the base models others make. you need a super computer to make the models yourself.

Ironically, this means that there's a better and better chance of Nintendo getting Ampere chips for the Switch 2 if the focus if shifting to the 4N at TSMC, freeing up the Samsung 8N for use on some T239s

What has ai produced except for shitty image generators?

Why are shitty image generators the first thing you think about concerning AI? It's been being used for translation and text related sifting for years.

Nothing but the POTENTIAL, THINK OF THE POTENTIAL DOOD
Like with web 3 and nfts, it's a classic situation of every vc wishing they could go back in time and invest in Amazon or facebook or google before they blew up and trying to catch the wave again
Taleb Nassim's warnings became a siren call to these morons

If nvidia can start making separate, non-consumer cards for AI related business to sell at a premium while steadily lowering their prices for consumer grade gpus, I'd be pretty happy. They won't do that because it would require work, which is something you don't have to do anymore once you cross that threshold of money just generating itself, but it's a nice thought.

    >have nvidia stock
    >after being down like 30% for a year or so I finally sold it for ~+10% because their grafix cards were overpriced and didn't sell well
    >AI gets memed and I could've made more than +100%
well at least I didn't lose but it still feels like that

Frick.. I was hoping to get RTX 5090 for $1.5k or less. I'm guessing it's probably going to be slightly improved from RTX 4090 at >$3k cause of no competition.

The second best card behind a 4090 is an AMD. Even one generation ago that simply was not the case. What makes you think that Jacketboi isn't actually being face fricked by the ghost of Moore from beyond the grave right now? 40K chips to corpos? Wow, what a great long term business plan from, well.. volume.

I think large language models are a force multiplier, but at the end of the day it's an advanced filing cabinet with pattern recognition and excellent syntax. These speculators are dumb, I hope this bubble isn't what is keeping the US afloat.

30.4 for Apple 35 for Microsoft. Talk about overpriced.

why the frick wouldn't they use OpenCL or anything else, at all?

Nvidia burned a lot of dough in creating CUDA and hiring people to push CUDA integration into every OS / proprietary project they could find.

Well that's it then, Video cards are dead. $2000 for a 90 series or go Gaymd but at that point you might as well just get a console for that shit performance.
