I think the thing I miss the most about Oblivion is the AI schedule system. Yeah it was too ambitious and they had to gut it, but it's still pretty robust and npcs are moving about the towns properly or even traveling. They actually had a facsimile of a life schedule, instead of standing in place forever or having a few basic routines in their AI package.

You still have to wait for a loading screen, so what does it even achieve? Also, what good is a city if it has no proper walls and big gates for protection? Terrible for immersion.

Oblivion was fun and funny as frick when I played it back then, it still has its quirky charm and getting everyone to kill each other never gets old. Same with Morrowind but just not as fun to frick around with.
Oblivion will always be the best simply because it never took itself too seriously. It’s such a goofy piece of shit you can’t help but smile at the madness. Pure, unadulterated SOVL.
