Ocarina of Time might have been a good game 25 years ago, but there's an abyss of quality between it and a game like Witcher 3 Wildhunt. It's not an immersive game, there's little rhyme nor reason for the puzzles and obstacles in dungeons and temples. The Witcher actually marries the narrative with the gameplay in satisfying ways, you can make choices that impact the story.
OoT on the other hand has the insidious owl who tricks you into repeating what is stated, or the infamous scene with zelda where she just keeps repeating the question if you believe her prophetic dreams. There's only one time in the entire game that presents any subtext, and that's when ruto explains that the stone is an engagement ring before proceeding to give it to Link. He clearly didn't understand the implication and is shocked when he sees her seven years later in the water temple and she proclaims they are partnered.
Whereas Witcher is a game compacted with depth and meaning in every side quest. The Zelda series has just gotten progressively worse over time and it could be improved significantly by appraising what other games have brought to the table in all these years.
Low effort bait
its high effort, just poor execution
use written language to refute anything that was stated in the OP

Witcher is the definition of goyslop. Generic ass characters with the most basic b***h quest system. They might have just called the game "Video Game".
that's not even remotely accurate, the characters in the game are very fleshed out and have interesting personalities. Ocarina of Time is very very barebones by comparison.
>,humanoids and blacks
>but they have personality !
have a nice day troony
Literally moronic
Highly disagree. Ocarina is one of the few games that perfects both narrative and pacing as a video game should. You really don't need much narrative in this game, the world tells the story for you as you explore each new area. There's nothing more iconic than finding out every body in happy Castle Town either died or fleed to the sad poor village next door during your 7 years of absence.
the narrative in OoT is barely even there, it's very disconnected from the gameplay. whereas Witcher 3 marries the gameplay to the narrative and they complement one another.
Bruh the gameplay is the narrative. Did you even play it?
you get descriptions and a place to search for a monster, you gather evidence and consult your bestiary, then you prepare elixirs and the like to aid in slaying the beasts. it's very natural and intuitive.
>one of the few games that perfects both narrative and pacing
YOU LIKE THING????
>ACTUALLY BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ocarina of Time is timeless art. Witcher 3 is soulless fart
it's not even art, its plot is superfluous nonsense that insists on itself. unironically, not meme.
It's a basic time travel story that doesn't fall apart at first nudge and with a bittersweet delivery about the irreplaceability of childhood. What's wrong with that?
it's very basic, and it's silly that Link is unconscious for seven years.
>unconcious
his spirit was sealed in the sacred realm while his body aged.
do you just not understand story in games unless npcs spell it out to you in voice acted cutscenes?
it's a ridiculous story, I am spelling that out for you. Link pulls the mastersword and the game's story insists you are seven years later and Ganon has "won" in that time.
>NOOOOO IT NEEDS TO HAVE EPIC 'MY CHOICES MATTER' MOMENTS!!!!!!!!!
oot isn't an rpg
Dawg,
Metatextually, the story is supposed to be about a child's desire to grow up. You know the thing every kid wishes at some point when they begin to realize how restricted they are in what they can and can't do? It's a child's power fantasy: in the blink of an eye, you're fully grown and saving the world and doing things you couldn't before. And then at the height of your success, your crush/object of sexual desire sends you back in time because CHILDHOOD IS FLEETING and it's unfair to Link (and the self-inserting player) to steal that away from them even if they got aeverything they wanted. The whole game is a celebration of youth and the very short time we have to experience and grow in the world before the cruelty of obligations and responsibility sets in.
Bro,
it's literally about taking the mastersword and you are suddenly seven years in the future and the bad guy has "won" and then Link is sent back in time with no choice in the matter.
You refuse to contextualize the meaning of a simple story and miss the forest for the trees, while getting the details of the trees wrong. You're wasting your time and everyone else's here.
>is timeless art
Nice witchergay impersonation OP
Remember when they thought it would replace skyrim? Kek indeed
This is a hag thread.
Post hags.
Why is she sad? Wheres her co-workers? No one bakes/buy a cake for themselves, ties balloons in their cubical then sits alone. This artist is a moron.
they're preoccupied
this seems like someone's oddly specific fetish
You didn't play it at the correct age. You will never understand its joy.
I played it dozens of times, all at the relevant time. I'm objectively comparing it to a modern game gauging anything insightful you guys could add to the conversation, so far you guys are slacking hardcore. Not sending your best.
>boot up witcher 3 first time
>have to climb down a couple ladders, one of the first things that is done
>I'll just tilt my camera down a little to take a look what
> camera is locked from being tilted up/down beyond about 30 fricking degrees
I'M SO IMMEEEEEERRRSSSEDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there's no analog camera in OoT at all, and one of the first things you do is ironically climb down a ladder.
and yet, I wasn't bothered by that in oot. witcher 3 immediately bothered me by giving it to me, then restricting it
>and yet, I wasn't bothered by that in oot.
do you understand you make exceptions for the one game, and completely ignore the issue outright? it's called hypocrisy and you should avoid doing that.
>durrrr hypocrisy
no it's called bad execution and good execution
good execution would be your stupid ass killing yourself
it's literally text book hypocrisy, you straight up dont care that OoT restricts your camera, and you complain that Witcher 3 does it once. that's how fricked you are, you try to claim it's about execution, when there's no execution in OoT at all.
other reply was not me
>do you understand [moronic shit that missed the point]
nevermind, I agree with the other anon. it does come down to good and bad execution, that puts it very succinctly.
witcher 3 didn't do it 'once', it does it for the entire game.
>there's no execution in oot at all
so I can't see anything at all in oot? black screen with HUYYAAAH noises?
you
are
a
hypocrite
you
are
braindead
super mario galaxy doesn't let me control the camera, I suppose that's automatically worse than witcher 3's camera as well?
how about you explain why oot has a bad camera, and why witcher 3's gimped one is better
why are you arguing with an underaged idiot
25, I'm a telephony agent working from home. helps me kill time between calls
and? the camera is hand selected to be the best it could possibly be in Oot
modern games are shit and lazy
You get a full view of what's below the ladder, the climb down takes less than 5 seconds, or you could do a cool backflip over the railing instead of using the ladder.
Hot take, The Witcher 3 is just a very elaborate VN with openworld busywork.
that's not a hot take
that's just a basic b***h take that's accurate
modern games are gay and don't really have gameplay outside of japan
honest opinion about postal?
Why even make a thread like this, is it autism or boredom?
>he asks on the Ganker video games Ganker board
me no talk vidya gaems me coooooom
So it's autism, got it.
>Ocarina of Time might have been a good game 25 years ago
kek no
>Ocarina of Time might have been a good game 25 years ago
It wasn't. Tendies who didn't play other games on PC or PS1 or even Saturn or the older Zelda games just thought it was because it was really casual and watered down compared other games of the time, much like modern AAA games.
Panzer Dragoon Saga was ahead of its time
>comparing a VN with rpg and openworld elements with an action adventure
Dude some of the conversations in TW3 are longer than every single text box in OoT combined.
This is such a moronic comparison I can't fathom of this is blinded ignorance or bait
35 hours of killing the imaginatively named Drowners and talking to generic fantasy characters was enough for me.
You are complaining that OoT isn't a roleplaying game. Which it isn't. It's an action-adventure puzzle game. Stop being moronic.
The walking in W3 is so bad that they patched in a different type and it still sucks. The combat is so abhorrent I couldn't play more than an hour of the game before dropping it.
It's so fricking horrible it's sad.
The Witcher 3 is dogshit
ok zoomer
>there's an abyss of quality between it and a game like Witcher 3 Wildhunt
You're right, ocarina of time is still a way better game even after some 25 years
OP was tricked by an imaginary bird and little girl when he was a kid and he's still salty about it.
I never even got what's so bad about the Owl, yeah it happens like once or twice it repeats it's shit but you scroll through the text in like seconds.
I suspect it's one of those things were the exaggeration from memes has become the memories.
Having to play songs every five minutes is more annoying in my book.
frick the owl
I wish the zelda formula of special items and environmental exploration was kept alive longer. I don't want to play an open world game. I want to play a zelda overworld and some dungeons in 3d
>Ocarina of Time might have been a good game 25 years ago
Good games are good forever, homosexual
good thread op
wow a contrarian, good for you
