Patiently waiting for King Cup, but it's a shame that doesn't matter when I enter into a GP, there's always some 99+ wins Lv99 S18+ autist there to ruin everyone's chances. I still can't get a Knight Cup win because the tracks are too unforgiving in terms of mistakes, you bump once and you can say that podium goodbye.

Just had this happen to me a JP golden fox player with the color robbed me.
GPs are the fastest way to rank up and level up. Also yes I will show off GP trophies I've rightfully earned. They aren't supposed to be easy to get. Still think the queue system is wack pitting S- ranks with S* ranks
I'm an S5 and I've been paired up with B+ and A- rivals for finishing below rank 40 in a prix race.

Right now i'm trying to get 1 win per car. That way i am at least playing with a vehicle i have not "mastered" yet. Afterwards i'll probably just join the occasional GP for fun to get a break from Mute City 99 without trying too hard

I almost had it yesterday but got overexcited and fricking crashed in Silence.
Queen cup is unironically easier.
On "easy" tracks you gotta compete with people who have played that track a hundred times and ingrained the racing line and it's especially favorable to fox because of the long recovery lines.
On Queens Cup it's easier to get ahead by being somewhat skilled at one of the more elaborate tracks and Foxes have a harder time getting ahead because of less straights and less recovery.
I predict it will be relatively easy to pull ahead in Kings Cup by playing Falcon and not fricking up a lot since he'll have the best balance of recovery/speed to not get bonked to death.
Of course given enough time it will be dominated by perfect Stingrays
King Cup will just be easy like queen cup though.

I don't have problems with the first and third points, it's all a matter of getting good at the game, but Lucky Bumpers should just not exist, there should be no reason why the game should reward losing players with a tool to screw players who are potentially on their road to their first 1st Place and are already dealing with walls of red bumpers, they created for the sole reason of allowing losers to be fricking buttholes.

And if they MUST exist, they should not be able to take ramps or drive into healing zones. And also, why are they allowed to have suck crazy knock back? It's just one of those gimmicks that have little to no actual counterplay to it what made them think it would be a good mechanic?
Lucky Bumpers exist as a way to destress from a loss, especially in GP when there's so much at stake. By allowing people to be a petty POS with one final frick you as a consolation prize, there's a far lower chance of people just rage quitting after getting outskilled in GP. Of course they're frustrating when you're on the receiving end of it, but they very much have a purpose here.

It was fun for a few weeks but the updates are a little too spaced out for how few new tracks there are. Red Canyon is the only interesting new 99 track, White Land II is great but it's locked to the very end of Queen Cup, and Death Wind II is alright but it's locked to Pro Tracks.
Having to race on Mute Shitty/Big Blue almost every time they're in a poll because shitters are afraid of anything more complex and Golden gay sweats want the easiest win possible is also annoying, I would rather suicide and lose rank than have to race through those fricking tracks 5 times in a row before finally getting a sand ocean/red canyon vote win.
I'll return for King Cup but if future updates are as bare in content as the last one they by the end of the year this game will probably just be a handful of autists racing each other in bot-padded lobbies before being shut down.

I remember someone in these threads once said there weren't many pilots in the sport that did it as their primary career so I looked into all the pilots' motives up to GX/AX and made a graph for them. Some of these were actually different from what I remember, like Jack having been a FORMER boy band member turned pilot, and some I had trouble determining where to place (Billy, for example, had the main motive to prove apes are superior to humans but in GX interviews he's very money obsessed)
Overall, there are more in it for the sake of the sport than I thought but the majority are indeed in it for some other reason and probably wouldn't care much if the grand prix became illegal again

Well this is the consequence of modern online gaming. The top level is always dominated by people who play 25 hours a day and 8 days a week so if you want to be part of the statistics or even hope to compete, sometimes you have to risk burning yourself out.
I guess it's easier for me since I'm a pretty busy person and I play this game at teardrop pace and I'm not seriously focused on winning races. I'm usually proud if I can finish top 10. This game is just really fun.
i think the main thing that bothers me is that this shit could go away at any point down the line so its about gettin in as much as you can while its still populated.
an actual main title drop with at least like 40 people would be just as good. have progression system, currency system so you can just buy your colors or some shit, decals etc
i dont plan on gettin #1 in 99 or gp even but i like collecting the colors for all the vehicles.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm missing some extremely basic fundamentals. Sometimes I'm in the top ten and sometimes I'm in the bottom 50. I do best in the later parts of a GP where I don't have people bumping me around all the time, but good luck getting a strong start in the GP.
Yeah, because in the beginning there are more players and your forced into the RNG blender pit where you can get sent flying out of nowhere but basically the early stages you spin at turns you would not want to get hit at and boost at the obvious spots.
Otherwise just pray things end up going well in the blender where the crowd has more control of your machine than you do.

I play mostly Fox.
Even with a couple lucky KOs early in Queen I barely scrape by and am stuck in 4th place hell overall. I've known since week 1 that I'd have to switch by king cup, I just like boosting and having good handling makes the game feel too numb.
Anyway, anyone who has played X or GX knows that the racers with E health, (Gazelle, the Arrows, Zoda, even D ranks like Fox) don't actually survive endgame tracks. Lategame tracks in FZERO kill low durability machines. Always has. Always will.
Low health high boost is just too fricking fun. until they add Red Gazelle to 99 I'm gonna keep using Fox and boooosting because thats the coolest archetype.
these people have zero pride or self-awareness. They feel entitled to free wins. What is the accomplisment in beating someone lower ranked than you? They want participation trophies.
Thing with Fox is that it's "high skill". If you can get to the front of the pack and run your lines perfectly, you win every time. The only RNG at that point are other high skill Fox gays right on your tail, which is very rare to have more than one in a lobby. For everyone else, Fox is actually a liability since it just gets murdered in the middle of the pack.
Go and watch Lunaire play. He autistically memorizes the tracks and bumper spawns and basically never falls below 3rd place even against other fox gays.

Theres ALWAYS someone better in life. All the more satisfying when I beat him. He cant predict every single lucky bumper and maybe I'll be right behind him. idk why you're so demoralized. The skyway is a really strong comeback mechanic. Being in first is not enough as a fox a lot of the time. no skyway access and having the lowest top speed means a better Stingray player WILL pass. Or a Goose hog that meme'd its way thru multiple skyways.
the game is free with Nintendo Switch online. And even if it wasn't free, I'd buy it because I love FZERO.

This is the most unfair thing that happens in this game. I nearly broke the switch in half. I guess the tick is to swear NEVER AGAIN and get more KOs earlier in the GP and fight like mad to stay ahead of the pack. I was so shocked when the UFO took me away, I had never seen it happen before. The cutoff in Death Wind lap 1 is too unforgiving, even good players get bad starts sometimes.

I'm not demoralized. I'm a fox player myself. I just have enough self awareness to admit it is the best machine in the game and is a big reason why the meta is so stale. In fact I've went to Goose recently because it's really boring playing as Fox if you are good.
You don't have to look him up if you don't want to, but lunaire has hundreds of first place wins doing the same thing with fox every time and is a good showcase of why it's broken.

I always rank out in the 3rd lap in the GP via Death Wind. It pisses me off because I know I'm not that bad in the stage, but the pressure is high in GP compared to 99 mode. you're basically a sitting duck unless there are worse people than you.
I would love to have the Bumper actually be a playable craft, if they're ever gonna bother adding anything new to 99.
I think of using the Bumper in one of two possible ways; the first would be a straight-forward Expert's Challenge, basically low ratings across the board, with maybe a middle-of-the-road top speed and acceleration to at least keep up with the pack. The second would be something along the lines of a custom vehicle, which would start off with abysmally low ratings in the three main categories but would earn points that could slowly upgrade those attributes(I'm talking really slow, like it would take at least a thousand collected points to fill up the first bar, and increased amounts for the subsequent four bars).
