We kind of are getting the same people JP gets. Just in a different order. Maybe.
We global fans have the power of foresight. We’re able to look ahead and see what happens on JP’s end and that works against the developers.
So in order to counter that, they have to be more savvy. Offer twists and turns we’re not expecting and sweetening the pot on occasions.
For instance, skipping Levina and giving us Rinyuu earlier than expected.
Thank god we at least have a Tavern Talk coming in a couple of weeks.

The Live-A-Live collab has two banners, and one of them is the Oersted/Straybow banner if I remember correctly, and they're both pretty mediocre. But they could probably get away with leaving that one untouched given the units in the second banner that also comes with the collab.
That's why I think they won't get buffs, yeah. Roland and Frederica were in a much different situation because it was only them.
Leaks don't really change the fact that we're still following what JP gets the vast majority of the time... it only confirms it.
I was lucky enough to get Leon in a few pulls and since I've been using him he's stronger than all of my other characters by far. He's not even A1 and It's like I'm using a cheat character.

Is this worth getting into at this point? Already play Another Eden, which seems similar. Thought Octopath 1 was mid but really liked 2 and know the battles in this are similar to 2's final fight (8 man party).

Then why release them early? They could wait until their corresponding chapters to release the characters. Instead you have Temenos and Agnea releasing on their 3rd Year Anniversary while Hikari and Cassti are releasing on New Years Eve.
Osvald should’ve been the 4th of the Sequel Travelers to release, instead he’s the last. I can’t help but feel like the storyline’s gonna shift away from the characters making cameo appearances and take a different direction.

So just started today, what's the suggested order of operations to unlock shit? Got Cyrus and a couple other 5*s from the step up banner going til the 3rd.
Cyrus is a good start, I'd say try to get through the Master of Wealth/Power/Fame storylines asap so you can unlock hunts. Hunts and the nut garden in the Nameless Town are the two most important things to unlock so you can get exp nuts and guidestones to uncap your travelers.
Dumb question, but do Rinyuu's prayer buffs count as active or passive?

I hate time-limited shit in this game, 1k guidestones down the drain. 3 attempts got him close to 60%, and then every new team dies within a few turns because all my good gear is banned. How do you get the quest "Kota the Smith's Forge" to proc? I've got Kota in town and have gone into the tower and done the scenes for Bonfires and Trials. Just beat Master of All 1.

Nevermind, got him. Used 11 teams so this bastard killed 80 of my travelers. Yeah, I would've had to have started yesterday if I was gonna get those stones, 1 hour definitely wasn't enough. I think I spent over 3 hours on this. I don't even feel like I accomplished anything since I missed out on the limited time mission and took 11 attempts instead of 3, so I missed out on the rubies and the accessory that pairs with the one I just got.

The cloak only allows you to dodge physical attacks 5 times. The BoA7 accessory allows you to dodge both physical and elemental attacks 5 times. They're separate too, so taking physical hits won't lower the amount of elemental dodges you get.

2024 started off just like 2023 went, a ten pull full of nothing but 3 stars. Fricking hell, this is still the worst gacha though I love the music/characters/world/story.
Veteran's seal was my first Kersjes dupe, so it's nice to have him at A1.

Fortune is fine, and not being able to boost the skills of 4-stars is nice since the soul shard exchange is already so long that it takes a few minutes to find the one you want.
I would say the free version is better in most aspects, though it does come with -HP in exchange for also adding 5 elemental dodges . Which I think is a worthwhile tradeoff (the Boa7 accessory actually sees more use).

None of the elite four-stars are particularly useful outside of 4-star only challenges, except maybe Cerna (if you have Roland). The important thing is the accessory, and hers gives +500 HP and some status ailment res.

This was true before since you needed to charge and use her ultimate to get a point, and reaching 6+ points took forever.
Then the TP system gave her a new passive that allows her to earn points by simply swapping rows. So now she can get it by swapping a bunch.

In long fights, yes. Anywhere else, meh.
Hammy is used more for tank support (like being paired with Serenoa/Gilderoy/H'aanit EX) than tome damage.
Quick summary:
1/10 - Tatloch, Champion of Memory. Paid step-up only. You can’t spark the other Champions but you CAN spook them. 50% chance of getting Tatloch on the last step.
1/17 - previous Champions of Memory (Herminia, Tytos & Auguste). Individual Paid Banner. 50% Chance of getting Herminia/Tytos/Auguste in their respective banners. Free banner which could get you any of the three.

New player - this game is pretty good but what concerns me is that the releases don't follow the Japanese banner orders. Every gacha I've seen that diverges widely from JP release order gets smothered by corporate in under three years.
Hope that doesn't happen because I loved OT2 and want the game to last long enough in english to frick around in the cozy night maps in Solistia.

No, they don't. One of the most (formerly the most) profitable and popular gacha games worldwide is is FGO whose Global version follow such a precise schedule that they're exactly two years (give or take a day) after the original JP releases, including banners.
Similarly, Another Eden, which COTC mimmicks very closely, has rarely swapped banner orders (only three or four times over five years). There have been GL first units but JP gets them a week or two later.

From what I understand the Solistia Travelers of Memory banner works the same way as the Orsterra Travelers of Memory. Only they’re considered two separate limited banners.

Any other good JRPG gacha like this one? I tried Brown Dust 2 and Another Eden but didn't like them
this game is honestly an anomaly, japan sucks at gacha gameplay and mainly relies on name recognition to sell, but octopath translated very well to mobile and they're willing to maintain an EN version
I don't think so, at least not off the top of my head. The mobage I'm looking forward to in 2024 is Sword of Convallaria, has the potential to be really good if you like Tactics Ogre and if the devs become less stingy. Get the feeling it'll be similar to Octopath in that it'll have a terrible gacha with low currency handouts but excel everywhere else ie visuals, story, gameplay, music, etc. Global isn't set to launch until the spring, they delayed it for more polish and to have a good English translation.

i haven't tried it, but i'm not sure how much you can learn of the gacha system from a demo.
We already have info about the gacha, hope the devs lower pity to 100.
I've been playing the global demo and the pity is 100 so there's a good chance it'll be that in the full release. Though it isn't a guarantee because it just means you'll get one of the two (or more) featured legendaries on the banner chosen at random, and the pity resets as soon as you pull any legendary at any time, even if it's an off banner. The demo doesn't really let you interact with the gacha since progress won't carry over to the full release, it's just to let people play around with the roguelike main story mode that doesn't use stamina.
Based on the demo, my previous post stands: just like Octopath CotC, the game itself looks to be pretty great in all respects except for the gacha, which is terrible due to low rates and lack of summoning currency. At least it seems slow-paced with almost no powercreep and the second highest rarity is still viable and not completely forgotten after launch.

Congrats bros. Even with my bad luck, it only took 60 pulls for Tatloch. Even got my final Lynette copy to A4 her (already u10) and a 4.5* Cyrus dupe to bring him to A3 so he's not squishy any more. Got 1800 left, back to saving for Bargello which'll likely be the 1.5Y anni banner.

Just took out Valkyn. Anything that is weak to sword/spear/staff pretty much instant dies. I've already got a few of soul weapons - the fact that you can savescum the board game makes it pretty easy to cheese at low preparedness, but I got really lucky with my early game rolls so have a pretty good generalist team that I barely swap.
Using Cyrus/Leon/Lars/Primrose - Nicola/[Scarecrow or Aedel/Serenoa]/Heathecote/Soleil.
Have absolutely no 5* or even 4.5* clerics so my healing lags.

Yep, they balanced him around your damage dealers all having hell weapons for that damage boost. You're not meant to spend much time in that last phase.

KEK no. Plenty of units already self cap the damage category like Z’aanta, Olberic, and a ton of scholars. Cornelia’s A4 is nice for units like Cyrus/Cecily who for some reason only reach 20% damage for everything they hit, and you hate having to switch fire/ice/lightning runes but even then it’s more of a convenience than an actual upgrade.
Levan/Lolo/Jorn A4s are actually must haves on the other hand.

Elite shop gets new travelers when the devs feel like it. Their awakening stones are added randomly to either the memory shard exchange, the historic frag exchange or the three power/wealth/fame medal exchanges. Note: 4 stars only use awakening stones for A4, so you gotta feed them silver guidestones to get them to A3 first plus you need to complete their traveler stories.
We’ve been getting two every month now. Cornelia and Levan are coming on Wednesday.
Next month we get the last of the Elite Eleven, Narr and Lolo. Both Hunters.
I advise going for Levan first, damage accessories are really common so missing out on Cornelia’s accessory isn’t too much of a loss, light res down on the other hand… It’s good for Cyrus/Cecily I guess.

Okay, I feel dumb. Damage up refers to weakness damage up. I always thought there was a separate modifier for pure damage...as opposed to sword damage or fire damage.
So then Cornelia’s damage increases for whatever weakness is being exploited then. Like if it’s light, then Light damage up. Or if it’s sword then Sword damage goes up.
Giving it to someone like Cyrus or Cecily does make sense since they hit multiple weaknesses.

It’s from a passive or equipment, it’s a passive buff. If it’s from a skill, it’s an active buff.
Regardless of conditions, a passive ability will always provide a passive effect. This is the reason why combustion from Frederica's A4 accessory works independently of any other active combustion source, such as Fiore EX. Therefore, we can achieve two broken shields in one turn due to combustion alone, simply by casting two different ones.
In fact, this is the main value of A4 accessories: passive abilities are much less common than active ones and often require conditions to maintain them (health level, breaking an enemy with a specific character, etc.)

This is why I hated Lebrant. In the very first chapter of MoA, he kills an Edoran defector out of duty. Not justice or personal righteousness, duty to Edoras.
After MoA 8, every memoir and flashback was about how devoted Lebrant was to Alaune and Elrica despite how blatantly evil Pardis III was. Even after their mom got iced, he still served Pardis III for the sake of protecting Alaune and Elrica. He was consciously aware of how bad and evil Pardis III is, but had to continue serving him to protect the people he cared about.
Yet in MoA 1 he fricking kill the defectors that oppose Pardis' cruelty and tried to leave the army. Alaune wasn't there to witness it, so there's no excuse for him maintaining a front for the royalty. He just fricking killed people he could have spared because they didn't want to serve a king he (supposedly) doesn't want to serve either.
His backstory contradicts his actions in the present. It's even worse when he dies and Alaune makes him out to be some saintly martyr that did nothing wrong. At least with Krauser everyone acknowledges that he was on the wrong side of history before the Bestower Arc. Not with Lebrant. He's a good boy who never did anything bad! Just forget when he punished deserters outside the view of anyone that could judge him!
The deserters could have leaked about lebrant letting them go you know? And pardis is not a guy who would let that go unpunished. Of course, this is assuming that the deserters recognized lebrant which I don't remember enough from MoA to be sure about.
Dunno if Lebrandt could have done the same Richard did with Gimel (sparing him and giving him a second chance). Mesara told him if he don't kill him, he wouldn't stop being a bandit, 'cause that the life he choosed and he wasn't interested in changing for the better.
Are Tatloch's magic vampire powers ever explained? I assumed it was from the ring but after she loses it she can keep on using them (in cutscenes in story, not in just in battle which can be forgiven as a gameplay concession).

Is any part of the castle better than the others for this drop?

That's exactly why they didn't, despite it being 1.5 anni. They likely knew that these awakening stones are perceived as more valuable than others by the playerbase, so no way would they offer a deal on a single one.
It's funny. I've seen in multiple videos people saying that the Bargello+Sonia banner JP got is THE best banner in the history of the game to spend on, mostly because both Bargello and Sonia apparently get more bang for their buck for every single awakening stone than most other characters in the game. Whales were advised to spend as much money as they can on this banner but in an effort to outgreed JP, global split the banner and will likely end up making even less money than JP did from this banner in the end because of it, which of course leads into SE looking at global's lower profits and thinking "gaijin don't like game! shut it down over there! jp onry!" The endless cycle of SE gacha failure continues. I heard they shuttered another one last night come to think of it.

You can also spark them with 200 memory fragments. Those are the ones you get with the paid step-ups and they’re permanently available.
And chances are there’s gonna be a future banner similar to the 1.5 Anniversary Banner that will bet you a selector fragment that can get you any Chance Encounter, Sacred Blaze, Traveler of Memory and later, any Solistia Traveler of Memory.

Dagger/wind damage has more limited use case and falco already does a passive dagger buff, but the broken patk/eatk passive sounds promising. Does it buff himself? the front row? the whole team?

There is not a single A4 that's a must have. It's very good if seeing big numbers makes you hard, but if you're just a casual player you're unlikely to see huge gains from it because it relies entirely on sweaty setups to setup absolutely ideal conditions for one character to do frickhuge damage. If you need to ask whether it's a must have, you're already not the type of player for whom it would be a must have.

Short answer: Maafa is the best pet in global until Alaune EX comes out since she's a far superior BP battery. Best pet that costs 6k shards is Airy, the fairy from Bravely Default, but she's not out yet on global.
Shoutout to my lucklet brother who sent me well wishes last thread hoping 2024 would be better for me than last year...it is! Today was the best day I've had in this game since installing it at launch 1.5 years ago.
I was at 2.2k rubies before logging in, and after claiming the insane amount of gibs we got, I shot up right to 4.6k for doing nothing, enough to secure Bargello. I did the final battle of BoA Ch6 and damn, what a fight. I went in blind with my favourite story mode team and it pushed me to my limits, one last Swift Trifold Thrust from Tressa killing the boss' last pixel of health when everyone was on their last legs and would've died to an aoe later that turn. I'm glad to be caught up after half a year and ready to dive into new content, and it was nice to see the devs respond and improve things appropriately. These 12k awakening shards are wild, now even f2poors like me can get TWO of the most expensive premium pets! I think I'll get Maafa 'cause I have Tatloch, and save the other 6k for Airy, the most busted pet in the game (did she come with the second Bravely Default collab in JP?).
My pulls were better than I could ever imagined.
I went all in with every ruby I had on Bargello's free banner, the full 4500 rubies.
I got a Cyrus dupe (A4 BABY!), Lumis dupe (A1), Cecily dupe (A1), BOTH PRIMROSE AND TRESSA EX (BOTH NEW!!!) and THREE Bargellos! I traded in my frags for Sonia. My Veteran Seals gave me Ophilia dupe (A2), Nicola dupe (A2) and Therion dupe (A2). My 40 normal seals gave me an Ophila dupe (A3) and Aedelgard and Eleonora, both new!!!

Heya, lucklet anon from last thread. My pulling experience was pretty terrible up to 130 pulls, but on my 14th multi I got 2 Bargellos, and I pitied him getting him to A2. I should have enough awakening shards to get his A4 accessory months later when that arrives in the exchange.
I know Bargello's A4 is priority over his U10 because it's probably the most busted accessory in the game, but since I'm not a whale, I'll never have an A4 Bargello. So it's worth it to spend a stone getting his ultimate to level 10 so I can use it twice, right?

That's a good point. Also, I see a lot of people saying they're going to wait the 6 months for Bargello's awakening stones to be in the exchange so they can A4 him. If I don't spend any of the 12k awakening shards we got today, I'd be able to afford that, but since you can only buy one stone per month, I'd be waiting 7 months for that A4. Guess I'll be sitting on this spare stone then, thanks.
Also, totally unrelated, but I was watching a review on Tatloch and the video said her atk/spd buff affects the entire party, not just the front row. Since when have we been getting skills that buff the back row too? I must be outta the loop.

Both his passive buffs will apply to the entire front row even if he's in the back, same as Richard's passive buffs. If the character needs to be in the front row, that will be listed at the start of the passive's description as a condition. For example, here's Eltrix's buffing passive for comparison:
"When in front row and at full HP: Raise Phys. Atk. and Elem. Atk. of Entire Front Row by 15% and lower SP consumption by 20%. (Effects do not stack)."

I don't really see the appeal of Bargello, yeah he's strong but there are stronger characters coming that will be even more useful than him. Average player who isn't min-maxing would benefit more from picking up Elrica and Alaune EX which should be coming soon, probably on the same banner too
15% passive attack and elemental attack up and a sizeable damage limit up boost just for existing is already insanely good. Even if you don't need his actual abilities in a fight, as long as you've got one character who wants to stay in the front row for the entire fight Bargello can just sit in the back and make your entire party stronger. Aside from that, he's also an offensive buffer and debuffer in one meaning he's always going to have something to do in a fight even if you're not fighting something with a dagger or wind weakness and allows you to double up on your best ultimates with characters who don't have their U10.
I don't know what you're smoking if you don't think having Rinyuu's Crusader's Prayer on a passive on top of all the offensive utility you could want is absolutely insane. The A4 isn't what makes him good, it's just the cherry on top.
Remember the overworld caits? They finally have a use again. Each one gives a decent chunk of affinity for pets every time you beat it.

Seems sweaty, just putting it out there. The caits give 10 affinity per fight and hunts give 5 to 15 per hunt apparently, so you'll max them eventually.
How are pet buffs counted in the damage cap limits? Are they considered active? passive? a completely separate stack???
Pet buffs are a fourth buff category, completely separate from active, passive and ultimate caps, which makes them awesome. And get this: divine beast buffs are a FIFTH buff category, separate from pet buffs and all the rest!

Chomper, also from Bravely Default so it should arrive the same time as Airy (whenever that is). And Chomper only costs 3000 awakening shards, not 6k, but is still OP. H'agan's good but there's a free pet that has a skill similar to his iirc, so like most 6k pets, he's a big stat stick.

Good news if you're a Bravely fan: there's been a second Bravely collab in JP adding more characters that weren't in the first one like Ringabel. And the first one will likely rerun again sometime in the future so you can make your Edea stronger with dupes if ya want.
at max level 100, you can afford all of a traveler's skills, but it takes some time to reach 100
just skip the skills and other stat nodes that you don't plan on using for now

Did the math and buying every guidestone + wisdom orb + void dust each month is 170.05k medals. 169k if you neglect Bronze guidestones.
Considering that I had 41/47 5*s at lvl 100 before 1.5 anniversay (not counting arena Champs, Serenoa or Elvis) and never spent a single medal on guidestones, that seems a bit much. Especially for playing each Master board around 6 times (assuming an average take of 30k medals each run) a month. Frick that.
117.5k for every wisdom orb + void dust is far more reasonable if you really, REALLY like fortune boards. Or you can except that your Harley and Lionel will have to wait a bit to hit level 100.

MY BOY FINALLY CAME HOME!
We got 20 traveler seals today so I spent 'em and got Millard at last! You'll never see someone so excited to pull him. He was my starter from the tutorial guaranteed 5* in the closed beta test for global almost 2 years ago and yet despite playing and pulling since day 1, I couldn't get him until today. I've gotten all of the other launch 5 stars multiple times and even have multiple of them at A4+U10 but zero Millards...until now!
Useless as he is, I still keep him as my favorite. Feels wrong not to have one of the Chosen 8 as the leader. Scarecrow had Gilderoy had their own stories happen and Theo didn't seem to click with me. That Cedric side quest also made it apparent SQEX would assume you have a male lead if any (seeing Viola get flustered by desert bawds didn't jive.) Millard setting off on a quest while not-so-subtly stating he can resist the influences of power and wealth just feels most apt. It's also Aelfric's ring that dictates our rolls so Millard probably gets some favoritism from the stingy bastard.
Maybe I'll pick up his EX someday so that I can actually use him in a team. Assuming I don't end up making Odio my lead instead when LaL hits.

Just accept the quest, go to the dark flame thing next to where the barrier used to be (ie the quest indicator) talk to it again by selecting the Mayor quest, and you'll automatically complete it. Same with the other ones.

Up to you, but you might end up never getting his A4.
Joshua's like Odette but Sword and not quite as good. Instead of element down on the enemy, he buffs himself. 2-hit buffs sword damage by 15%, 3-hit buffs Phy damage by 15%, and his buff skill allows him to reach Phy damage cap by himself. Ultimate isn't too bad either, 6-hit single-target and buffs both Phy damage and Sword damage.
His real potential is in his doublecast passive. Just like with Odette, he can go from mediocre to impressive on a 1-in-5 chance. It applies to all his skills, including the Spd+Phy buff. Without the double cast, he's a better breaker than Kouren, but can't get as much damage out as Fiore or 2B. With doublecast, he would be an excellent breaker. There's just far more reliable sources of more than 4-breaks in one action.
As far as Warriors go, I'd rank him below Lars in breaking ability and somewhere around Kouren's level in damage output. He's still completely outclassed by A2, but absolutely better than Lionel. Just a shame his full potential is locked behind pure chance. The only place he can really shine is Warrior tower, and that's if you haven't already beaten it already.
Save the stones until you have enough for A4.

Unit selector isn't as drastic as it sounds. During JP's 1st Bravely collab, they gave out free Agnes after 2 days of rollback and the game being inaccessible. While I wouldn't say no to a free Bargello, I doubt they would ever give him out for free. Unit selector seems more likely if GL follows the apology precedent from then. Not to mention the Band log and Levan/Cornelia glitches...

I finished making an Abyssal III weapon of each type and all the Abyssal armor, then I noticed I've cleared almost all the feats for collecting one of each piece of equipment. But I'm still missing two, pic related. I've crafted at least one of each piece of gear in every shop, am I missing something for helmet and armor? Or do you guys also have one missing for each of these two feats?

The actual boost is in pets. These little bastards can make your tanks tank better. Bune allows Gil/Serenoa to actually nullify Sweeping Storm so they can finally tank everything reliably and Bune/Shadow Cat allows FioreEX to nullify both elemental AND physical at the same time. Not to mention the stat boosts for extra damage and Arcanastones hitting weakness on Shadow Dragon. It's really nice. Still gotta do +8 or so at minimum to outpace Master Boards since they give better rewards now lol.
Board farming? I've never done that, I just play the boards when I need medals for a new weapon for someone. What should I be farming? Do we even get enough tickets each month for all the limited amount items?

Odio-S - collab unit, not great, not terrible. Dark DPS. Odio-O has priority on this banner.
Temenos - has a similar role to Solon (breaker, attack buffer, debuffer), but in addition he can heal, apply a shield, increase defense, remove status effects and deal decent damage, hitting all weaknesses.
Gloria - collab unit, takes a long time to explain, but like Temenos she does almost everything. But in contrast to the inquisitor, she has a more defensive role. The most interesting parts of her kit are the strong shields and an improved version of Alfyn's Pomegranate Panacea.
Perhaps a traveler from Solistia (a cleric in red robes) will appear in the general pool quite soon. If Square remembers what general pull is, of course.

That they don't know what fricked up and they don't know how to fix it. They'd either have to do a month worth of roll back at this point (which would kill the game forever) or trawl through every user's guidestone usage to refund them the amount wasted.
They could just redistribute the 100 character Guidestones for each character. Then try to fix the problem in the sidelines.
Or they could try to reset the completion rewards on the Band Log.

Neither of those fix the actual issue, which is that some guidestones cause the entire stack to glitch out.

If you pulled for Bargello and Sonia you can do this. The worst part about Largo when he came out was balancing your damage down to the pixel so you didn't trigger his summon thresholds and skipping some of them.

That makes two of us. My plan was to eliminate each of the sentinels then go for Largo. He’s actually manageable until the final phase.
There’s just two problems:
1) After you kill the Crimson Sentinel, the Azure Sentinel starts covering him.
2) If you kill off ANY of the last Sentinels he puts on his pogo shoes and gets three actions per turn. You are pretty much fricked at that point.
Was on an arena roll yesterday and beat Gertrude, Yunnie, Yan Long and Largo. Feel like I finally understand the buff/debuff stacking mechanics.
What's the best way to beat Hammy? Slow and steady? Started recently so my unit pool is limited but I have the last few characters (Leon/breasts/Sophia/Bargello).
You want to nuke them as quickly as possible and together ideally. A wind team is nice but you might consider having Tatloch as a fan DPS instead.

Damn, I finally beat a tourney champ on/close to their debut.
I had no strategy except shaving shields and trying to shave Hammy herself while the bodyguards are down until the top eventually died. Then I let Hammy heal the wizard with her counter while shaving her shield directly. Hammy went down, then the wizard the turn after.
Preservation has no business being as cracked as it is. 3 units died easily-preventable deaths and Rinyuu just fixed it like nothing happened. It reduced my number of attempts by 1 but goddamn is reviving units after they die a moron-enabling skill.
Kind of a general question but also applicable to the Hammy fight: if I don't have U10 on my Prim EX, is my U10 A4 Lynette a better character to bring as a buffer, or is Prim EX so busted she's better than a maxed Lynette right out of the box?

Found a vid I can mostly copy that clears in 10 turns and uses two four stars for the Tier EX clear in the current cup race, so fingers crossed it works out when I try it tomorrow.

More like fights where you don't need a healer and a way to cap defense down on all enemies. I haven't touched Lynette ever since I got Primrose EX's U10. Lynette's 10% passive buff is just annoying to maintain and now I'd rather just slot in Bargello/Richard who give 15% just by existing (as well as other things). Saves me an accessory slot too as I don't have to equip Kota's Glove or Bloodsoaked Cup on my units anymore just to make Lynette's swapping a little more manageable.
It depends on your team comp and how fast you want to clear. Lynette is for buffing, PrimEX is more flexible.
Lynette buffs offense, Primrose buffs offense + heals + buffs defense + debuffs defenses + increases Ultimate gauge
Lynette can boost offenses by 30% in one turn (10% passive + either active or ultimate buffs) and bring it up to 50% either on the next turn or after switching again. Brave Fan gives you much more wiggle room by extending buff time.
Primrose can boost 35% by herself from active and Ultimate buffs. Can't do it in 1 turn. She can also grant the party 20% Ultimate gauge every time she has 3 BP (which is 1 turn faster than everyone else), boost defense with a burst heal (cheaper than Ophilia), AOE debuff defense by 15%, 3-hit break in a relevant element (axe, single target not random) and her ultimate's ability to increase Ultimate gauge by 50% allows her to make ultimate combos like the Solon one possible.
If you’re going fast and your party doesn't need more heals, use Lynette. Though, more passive buffers like Bargello and Tatloch are pulled hard, so she isn't the only reliable source of passive. If you need to fill in any gaps that PrimEX can possibly fill, use her. There are very few situations where she's useless, since her variety makes it hard for her to become redundant.
Personally I haven't used my Lynette since pulling Primrose, but there are absolutely situations where you'd rather have Lynette. Prim's main claim to fame is the insane role compression she offers (full party healing including backrow, offensive and defensive buffs and aoe offensive debuffs on both the magic and physical side). Lynette can still provide passive buffs along with extending your buffs (particularly nice for timed start of battle attack buffs like those from Kota's Right Glove) and at U10 can get you fully buffed on turn 2 which can be particularly useful for speed clears for arena farming and the like. For drawn out fights, Prim's realistically going to be better in the vast majority of cases but Lynette absolutely still has a place which is pretty insane considering she was a day 1 unit.

You mean in the codex? I'd imagine you unlock it by completing the Bravely collab which I think is tied to Elvis's traveler story. If that isn't enough, maybe you need to beat the Aventurer too?

I got Theo as my main 5 star. Managed to pull Therion, as well as Molu and Eliza both with 4 stars, and a 5th black star? I imagine that means I can at some point somehow turn them into 5 star characters.
My bad - didn't realize Barg/Sonia's banner ended. For the 4.5 stars, go to their Learn Skills tab and click on the 5th level - it will show what mats you need to 5* them.
Most can be bought from the Silver Guidestone exchange, you'll be swimming in those for a while due to the early game pulls. Not a bad investment to get a few more 5*s early but will delay your getting the 4*s awakening accessories, some of which are quite good.
Ah okay, that makes sense. I just pulled on the free ruby Haanit EX banner 8 times, and while I didn't get Haanit, I did happen to pull 5* Kouren and Chloe, so I have at least four 5*.
I think I'll hold off on boosting the 4.5s, since Eliza and Kouren are the same class. Thanks for the info, seems pretty daunting to get into the game this late.
Me again. So I've put maybe 3k free rubies into the Haanit Ex banner. I'm getting little to none rubies at this point. Should I keep trying whenever I scrounge up 30 rubies on her banner?
Also what does the general day to day game play look like? Should I be prioritizing main quest, side quests, traveler stories, or simply exploring the map?
This game has an odd gameplay loop for a gacha: Instead of a daily grind with limited time content, imagine it's a normal JRPG with episodic updates.
Dailies are easy to clear. At a certain point, you press one button and you clear all your daily goals. After 3 days, you clear your weekly goals. Once you unlock Hunts, there are two ways to go about them: Most people like to use all their hunt tickets up as soon as possible so that if they miss a day, they won't have to worry about wasting a ticket. Then, they'll wait until guidestones rates increase for a hot unit and hoard up tickets for a week. I and some others hoard tickets at max, using one a day, then dump when guides tone rates go up. Once it's over, it's back to hoarding.
Limited-time content is very rare: Only crossover events end, and even then that's only half of them: Bravely Fontent and Triangle Strategy gameboarda are still here, with Serenoa and Elvis being permanently characters. Just Nier:Automata and Live-a-Live will come and go. Besides that, some time-sensitive bonuses like Arena cups or milestones for clearing other difficult content will pop up. Nothing major.
Traveler stories and side stories can be tackled at any time. Main story is what allows you to upgrade your equipment and unlock more side stories to complete. Side stories and Traveler stories just give you more influence/rubies/Guidestones.
Memoirs are just cutscenes that give you minor rewards. Only a few of them have fights or are rematches.

I'm not at all familiar with gacha, rather just picked it up due to how much I enjoyed OT1 & 2. Glad to hear it's more akin to a jrpg.

Back in the day of early gacha games, you could pull on a banner as many times as you wanted and have guarantee of getting anything. Over time, more games started adopting an anti-frustraion method, colloquially called "sparking."
Haanit's fragments are used at the Guide Fragment exchange specifically for the Haanit EX banner. After 200 pulls, you can exchange 200 fragments to finally get Haanit EX or a copy of her if you pulled her during the banner. There are also lower rewards for if you get Haanit before 200 pulls or cut your losses and give up on pursuing her. For this reason, most people will save up 6000 rubies (200 pulls worth) for a highly anticipated unit. Do note that you CANNOT use Haanit EX fragments on any other banner, nor will you retain them for any future banners. The only exception for this rule applies to Memory Traveler fragments from paid pulls.
As for pumping free rubies, I would advise you to stop either once you pull Haanit EX or enough 5* characters to carry you through the Master of All arc. The Richard&Alaune banner isn't bad for new players either if they can get Richard or a Memory Traveler.
There is a banner called Sacred Blaze that comes around. It features some familiar faces like Lianna and Leon. They aren't available on every banner, only Sacred Blaze banners. Leon in particular is a powerful unit. So, decide when you've had enough of the Haanit banner and start hoarding.
Slight correction, it's 150 fragments for H'aanit EX.
Early on do the prologue of traveler stories as soon as you can so you get the wealth/power/fame exp which in turn gives you perks and more gems.
Bargello and Sonia were on a banner that ended almost a week ago (Feb. 7) These are limited-access units called Memory Travelers.
Memory Travelers aren't part of the "General" pool. Gen. pool units can be pulled on any banner. Memory Travelers can only be pulled on banners that explicitly include Memory Travelers. The same goes for "Sacred Blaze", "Champions of Memories", "Collaboration" (i.e characters from other games) and any other special grouping that may appear in the future.
All hope isn't lost, though. Of the limited units, Memory Travele banners pop up more frequently. A banner featuring Richard & Alaune, two previously released Memory Travelers, is expected to drop soon. While Memory Traveler banners are open, an exchange is available for guide fragments (This is the game's spark system). Usually, for 150 shards (gained from 150 pulls, or 4,500 rubies), the featured banner units can be sparked. However, all other released Memory Travelers can also be sparked for 200 shards (200 pulls, 6,000 rubies). If you pay money to pull on the paid banner, there is a permanent exchange with the same 200 shards per traveler rate that carries over between all Memory Traveler banners. Considering how powerful most Memory Travelers are (Rondo being one of the better ones due to his unique buffs and debuffs) and the amount of rubies available to you as a new player, it would be very beneficial for you to pull on the banner when it comes.
TL;DR - Bargello and Sonia are limited-time units that will be available again on banners with powerful units. 6,000 rubies are needed to guarantee pulling them.

Richard*. Rondo is a fine traveler that will get powercrept eventually by other MTs, his gimmick is hitting Light & Sword at the same time. Not the same as Richard. Imo it's not worth sparking Rondo when far more powerful Warriors are expected to come in the next 2 months. Richard is Warrior support, Rondo is Warrior DPS.
Trying to set souls in my weapons is maddening. I'm trying to get some weapons that look like the ones I saw in a video clear, but the dude somehow has perfect or near perfect souls. This must take literal thousands of rerolls.

Beat Hammy too - on a roll tonight. Stalled the hell out of them with Rinyuu casting her def prayer, Tatloch and Haanit spamming her stat down fan AOE. Extremely graceless but still worked.

Well, I'm pretty frickin' worried right now.
I cannot for the life of me copy this clear. I have the same team. Same equipment. Some of my levels are higher since not everyone's level 100 in this vid while all of mine are. The only thing I don't have are identical near-perfect souls (for example, my Bargello's Raffica potency soul is only 8%, not a perfect 15%) and my pets are level 9 instead of 10. I can't see his pets' stats so I don't know which fruits he used on them, but I put 100 hp and 10 p.atk on the pets on Bargello, Tatloch and Glossom then I ran out of fruits for those stats. Also, I don't have Maafa so I put the orange cat on Tatty.
He is putting out WAY more damage than me. Everything falls apart on turn 7 because for him, Hammy herself is on a red pixel and triggers her low hp buff action. For me, she still has a huge yellow chunk of health and instead spends her priority coming-out-of-break turn putting evasion and cover back on her tank, so Hammy is still at 24 shields for meon the turn when the guy in the video is killing her.
Fricking hell, I've spent days tweaking to try and perfectly build this team to copy this turn 10 clear and now I can't even beat the stage. I gotta start looking for other options but I'm sure they'll use characters I don't have or awakenings and souls that are critical to hitting specific damage thresholds on certain turns.
Nevermind, I FRICKING DID IT!!!
Before scrapping the team, I decided to swap Alfyn for Rinyuu and ended up using my divine beast during the first Hammy break. This meant I didn't need Glossom to swap rows so he could use Stout Twofold Blow on broken Hammy. That, combined with the divine beast hitting her wind weakness pushed her into the red so things worked normally on turn 7 coming out of break.
But it was still a brutal battle that took the full 15 turns, not 10 like in the video I posted above. Tatloch died on the same turn as in the video and that was pretty rough, especially when Hammy died and I couldn't finish off her 2 minions, making them go into insane overdrive. Even with just the physical minion alive, she still nearly wiped me, and it came down to freaking Captain Tristan or whatever he's called, the first boss from MoW you can get as a summon now, coming in and hitting for a wimpy 310 damage to finish off the final minion before she came out of break and killed the rest of my party. A photo finish so to speak, but I was too on the edge of my seat to get a screenshot. I really should go unlock more of those boss summons; one that hit weakness would've taken the stress off me.
That's a tier EX clear for me, gonna enjoy those rubbish extra rewards.

Tier EX is 300 rubies, same as Tier 3 (no, they don't stack) but the difference is you get 20 gold wisdom orbs (not even enough to max one 5 star's ultimate) and 20 large exp fruit for pets. I actually currently have exactly 20 large exp fruit for pets in my inventory right now and I checked just this moment and discovered 20 of the largest exp fruit doesn't even move the exp bar a single pixel at level 9.
The prizes are listed in the game news in the announcement of the Hammy cup race beginning.
Tier EX is purely for bragging rights as the rewards are utterly worthless compared to just doing Tier 3. The only reason I went for it was I found that video with the exact characters I had and thought hey, I can do this.
The whole "having to post it on Youtube" thing is the dealbreaker for me. Too much effort for a single roll.
Yeah, it's bullshit. Only reason I bother is because I'm poor as frick and can't pay for even one ten roll on the regs. At least I haven't broken down and done offerwall stuff yet. That free2player youtuber guy swears by it, he must spends hours and hours on offerwall games every week but it lets him pull like a whale. I'd much rather spend that time actually playing CotC (or other games) though, even if it means far less pulls.

Oh wait, my bad. The notice says the Tier EX prize is 20 *tasty* large exp fruit. The ones I have that don't move the bar even one pixel are simply large ones. Presumably it works like nuts where the tasty ones are worth a lot more than the non-tasty ones. Tasty large exp nuts are worth around 2.5x the amount of exp as large exp nuts, so if it's the same for fruits, this reward will actually probably net you one pixel of experience on one level 9 pet! Man, what a ripoff.
How do you macro soul farming in this game?

Soul farming is a waste of time when you can get them from exchange more efficiently. What we need is a macro for rolling sould for the slots, that process is just pure hell
NTA but Can you get the +% damage to hellfiends from the exchange? Need a few more of those for the lvl 100 NPC pairs.
Managed to clear Hammy Rank 1 for the last limited mission in 12 turns, swapped out Wingate for Richard but otherwise tried that same strat as last night. Another very close call, I don't think I'll be trying Rank 2 for a long time.

Yep! So long as it's 15 turns or less, you get 300 rubies. Less rubies for 20 and 25 turn clears if you can't quite make 15. Use whoever you want.

well apparently i was both too weak and too strong at the same time

Hammy is way easier than Largo. If you're able to def buff and offense debuff you can safely survive the adds enrage until you take them out.
what speed do i need for hammy?
i beat hammy ex 1, i think ill wait until i get hannit ex, tithi, my harley to 100 or cygna to go for ex2 and 3
unless theres a aoe atk debuff i am missing
Out of curiosity what team did you use? I tried for Hammy EX 1! And was only able to whittle Milica and Petra’s HP to halfway.

The big guys are Richard/Krauser/Bargello/Rinyuu. If you have all of them, save it for Elrica, Solon, Sazantos or debuff e-girl. Eltrix/Rondo/Alaune aren't necessarily bad units, they're just easily replaceable. Especially Alaune being mutually-exclusive with her EX variant.

Oh, I didn't notice the watermark. I could never get mumuplayer to work properly to begin with, but I'd assume it's a regional thing. Supposedly the SEA version runs on emulator as well so I assume the same applies for the Taiwan version.

That's not how buffs and debuffs work. Accessories apply passive debuffs so you need another source of passive p.def down to extend the effect.
