My original party composition was Ochette, Partitio, Castti, and Hikari. I swapped out Castti and Partitio to do the other's chapters.
This was my team too and I never felt the need to switch after I gave Casiti a magic license
I'm playing the first game for the first time and have decided to tackle it by focusing on one party of four throughout the entirety of their storylines, and starting from scratch with the remaining four so I don't have to keep juggling around a full team of eight. And my team of Alfyn/Ophilia/Therion/H'aanit isn't really clicking the way my Primrose/Olberic/Cyrus/Tressa team did. Maybe it's just me but I'm just having a lot less fun with them despite liking their stories just as much as my original four.

My original party comp was literally unironically Castti solo until I unlocked most of the map then I grabbed everyone's homie Partitio. I don't really remember the order I got the rest of the characters.
Am I the only motherfricker that swapped my party regularly throughout the game? Everyone seems to have just done 4 and 4. I can kinda understand if people wanted to finish their main's story and wanted to get them of the team to stop being overpowered for a bit, but you can still swap throughout your main's story no problem.
I don't really see a need to. Hikari pretty much carried my ass and he could solo every last boss of each path if he wanted to. I only had to grind for Osvald and Throne due to mandatory path actions.
how much of the game would you say is individual chapters and how much is when everyone is together?
I just picked it up on sale but haven't dug into it yet. I started hikari's story but was getting raped by everything out in the first open area you get to when it is still night time
I started with Hikari, and my main team for the game was him, Osvald and Throne. Fourth slot was either Agnea or whoever's chapter I was doing.

I think they handled her wrong in the ending. What should have happened was She chickens out because Partitio taught her that not all people are bad, only for her brother to come in and kill her

I got filtered by the dog guarding the factory in Act 2. Does the game get better? I found the fight tough and overly long. Just not feeling it like the first one.

Of course I could just over level but somethings off. Loved the first, disappointed by the second, not sure why.

Game is way too easy until the superboss
it's all about getting out damage when the enemy is vulnerable
for example, using all your boost whenever available each turn and just throwing skills at an unbroken boss accomplishes jack, if you instead buff up like mad and attack a vulnerable boss it just melts
I also struggled initially with this.
Use the healer character's skill to push the boss' turn to the end of turn queue as much as possible.
If the skele's spawn use their weakness ( lightening and dagger, from memory ) to wipe them, priority one, if they spawn.
Defend and buff levels, execute max level skills as much as possible.
I was using level 25 characters and it took me about 20 tries so I obviously suck but succeeded ultimately.
Priest, merchant, thief, and the "main character", was my party for what it's worth.

Youre lying, the game is piss easy. Only had problems ONCE with Trouseau because he was my first chapter 4 boss and I didnt have Hikari or Throne on my Team and my MC Osvald hadnt unlocked OTM yet
I literally accidently killed Vide with a 99k Thunders Brand from Hikari, I could have killed that mf in like 2 turns but i wanted Osvald to deal the final blow. Not even Galdera is hard once you figure out the first phase is basically a puzzle on how to quickly beat him

if you genuantly have problems with the difficulty, just pump your throne full with speed nuts and spam aebers reckoning, always run throne and temenos to get the buffs and debuffs at night and have hikari learn 2 skills named limb by limb and sentencing gavel. The first one can be found in the sacred guard hq where you immediatly turn left to the room guarded by one guy. Sentencing gavel can be found by the courthouse in timberain. Equip hikari with the battletested blade and the giants club and you have the highest damage dealer in the game(not hitting OT1 levels of damage, but hes close enough with 100k missing).
At that point, the only thing that should be trouble for you should be galdera. If youre still having problems, go catch minibosses with ochette and use her provoke beasts glitch to summon 6 bosses at once

even easier then this one, once you unlock runelord and you put it on tressa you basically beat the game. If thats not enough running alfyn(or haanit or olberic) with 1hp and amputate is enough to deal with most stuff.

Learn to buff and debuff. It makes the boss fights trivial.
This. I wasn't min maxing but Hikari with proper buffs was going like 300k damage per turn.
Ok, what happened to OT? The first game sold 1 million in like two weeks on the switch alone with the second one needed like 5 months to sell one million while being on fricking everything from the very start.
Probably because Nintendo advertised the first one a lot due to it being one of the first "big" 3rd party JRPGs on the Switch.
Second one didn't have that factor going for it, and it was mutliplat from the start, which meant Square was in charge of advertising this one, and they did an awful job at it.

It's objectively a better game than OT1 in every way.
OT2 selling slower makes sense. It didn't retain the players that played OT1 and couldn't really get into it very much. People who bought OT2 were mostly people who enjoyed 1 and then late adopters from word of mouth.
it lost nintendo exclusivity, that was the only reason anyone cared about the first one, it came out during the height of switch mania
It also introduced the HD2D aesthetic so it was a novelty back than. I still say it sold pretty good.
It got the NEO:TWEWY treatment by Square, so really it's a miracle it sold as much as it did.

Agnea did nothing wrong. Her role in the design narrative is one of the more important ones because of how dark most of the other stories get. I appreciate what she brings to the table.

She cute and her ability to spread single target to multi target makes her fine gameplay wise.
The middle of her story wasn't great, but her final chapter was the most kino moment of the game

Most of the characters have a decent enough plot hook, but keep in mind the game is mostly focused on the characters individual stories. It's not until the very end they come together, outside of some chapters that feature both characters.
Just finished ot1 last night and starting 2 now. What a coincidence.
Starting with ochette. Who is the better pet? I'm leaning towards owl, because I like owls. But I didn't know if one is better than the other.
Also I'm so excited that the pets don't have limits this time around.

Not really. Nothing in the game really requires any real thought to beat except for Galdera. It was the same thing as in the first game. You can steamroll the game in the most braindead way possible then suddenly the game is like "Skill check. Time to see what you've learned"
I think you can easily find challenge if you look for it, but the open ended nature of the game means it's easy to waltz your way into power and throw off the whole difficulty curve
And since the game expects you to level up all 8 guys your second party will have access to end game gear
Depends on what you mean by "playing normally". I defeated Phase 1 without Ochette and 1HP Hikari and instead just bruteforced it by breaking the souls with casttis wind concoct and Phase 2 by just spamming Aebers Reckoning

The caster ones are easier because you can nullify their offense by spreading reflect on your party. Armsmaster is probably the toughest one, but you can make it a little easier with Thief debuffs or Runelord cheese.
This is going to sound dumb, but what do I do?
I recruited about 4 characters and have a full party.
Should I go grab the rest of the characters? What then? I'm still nderleveled for the characters 2nd chapters...do I grind?
yes. recruit everyone else, go back to your original party and complete CH 2's. if you still need lvls just explore man. If this game's any like the first there's optional dungeons you can explore.

Use the sorcerer ultimate with aelfrics against the souls, break the eye in one turn by fully boosting an axe attack with double tomahawk equipped, go ham on it until its dead. Second phase just spam winnehildes and the fight is basically won

How the frick do you guys grind and gain xp in these games? I’m in the middle of the first game getting squashed by enemies and I barely get experience per battle. Great game but i feel stuck and like I’m an idiot
Have a main high level group and switch one lower level character so they get massive amounts of xp killing high level monsters. Still grinding but much easier.
Is there a point to changing jobs?

Magic seems a lot weaker than phys does so far, but I haven't beaten the game yet.

Main party was the western continent gang, which you pretty much have no reason to switch away from unless you want to trade Agnea for another damage dealer.
OT would be way better with XP shared amongst all 8 of your party members. Prove me wrong.
