Based. I can’t take his Nuzlockes seriously (nor many others because of his influence) because of the rare candy shit. Like of course Nuzlockes become easier whenever you artificially level up your Pokémon to match every boss battle in the game. Plus it takes out all of the chances to get messed up by a bunch of wild encounters.

This crackdown has been the most entertaining thing to happen to pokemon in a while. It's now easier than ever to make a Pokémon with ideal EVs, IVs, Abilities, and Natures, and these homosexuals are still complaining about it. And if it's shiny Pokémon they're sore about, then maybe they just shouldn't use them if the time commitment is too much. I hope this encourages plenty of compgays to either never play again, or makes them spend the hour it takes to create a comp Pokémon gnashing their teeth and crying while they farm Tera Raids

They're still squeezing as much pity as they can out of 0 IV sets. 0 IV Enamorous is the one true obstacle they have left.

        Anonymous

And even then, trade bots for PLA can tell you its IVs without requiring saving, still allowing you to soft reset for it.
Also a fact: Enamorus can have up to 7 speed IVs and still outslow Iron Hands and Ursaluna in Trick Room. The only real reason for 0IVs would be TR Enamorus mirror and minimum speed Ting-Lu speedtie, which would be insanely autistic and rare edge cases considering Enamorus doesn't have a high usage to begin with.

This. You can make the case that it’s too much of a hassle to change sets on the fly with the developing meta, but Showdown has covered that gap for a long time. SV, flawed as they are, make training easier than ever before and essentially remove the need for breeding.

What’s funny is a guy that got caught with a genned Ursaluna was able to avoid being DQ’d if he played without it cause the rest of his team checked out and made top eight with only 5 mons. Meaning it’d have to be entire or almost the entire tea getting genned in to get DQ’d.

They're still squeezing as much pity as they can out of 0 IV sets. 0 IV Enamorous is the one true obstacle they have left.

It's pleasing to me that enough people can see through their rhetoric. They're increasingly just going straight to insults and "Stop whining about where we got them and just play."

I understood their position back when breeding was an absolute chore.

But now? I got a 6iv and 0 speed/5iv Ditto during the Ditto event. All items and vitamins are purchasable. Bottle caps. Nature Mints. Ability patches. All reasonably farmable through normal, pretty fun gameplay.

I'm able to get things exactly as good as the hackers, so they're just taking shortcuts and allowing themselves to constantly tweak their EVs for little edges. I hope Game Freak continues to tighten the hack checks and impose penalties for bringing them to both tournaments and ladder play.

When I mean all of them, I even mean shit I will probably never use like Smoliv or Shroodle.

Only competitive-related reason to hatch an egg is to get a 0 IV and you can accomplish that in less than an hour, 2 at most if RNG hates you
    >Egg moves can be "tutored" since gen 8, even easier to do in gen 9
    >EVs can be maxed without stepping on a single battle since gen 8
Natures can be changed since gen 8, can buy the mints in gen 9
    >IVs can be maxed at lv100 since gen 7, requirement lowered to lv50 in gen 9
    >Leveling is trivial as well since xp candies were introduced in gen 8
The switch regions serve as an online lobby rather than a single player campaign. If they couldn't be bothered to play a few hours to build a legal competitive team, they souldn't compete legally

      Anonymous

I didn’t know the mint even did anything since the nature doesn’t change in status. I thought maybe you needed like 50 or something to make it visibly change.

moronic take. Exercise directly translates to any sport. You use the same muscles for all of them.
“Raising” a Pokémon involves little to no battling. And the the battling is against npcs.
The actual practice takes place when you battle against a real person.

          Anonymous

You can't battle if you don't raise your pokemon. It's not about translating to a sport, it's about you needing pokemon to battle. Unlike training for a boxing match, catching and raising your pokemon is the bare fricking minimum you need to compete. Practice on showdown and make your team ffs.
          Why pretend to be illiterate?

Exercise translated into the ABILITY to compete better with other people that EXERCISED in what is a soft physical barrier. You are not practicing the sport when you exercise, it's a mindless grind that many people would love to skip.

I'm starting to understand why there are so many "Pokémon fans" that give these unfinished nightmares a pass - these motherfrickers don't actually play them.

I hope whatever anti-gen tools TCPI are using continue to get more sophisticated, maybe then it will force more of these drones to actually play these kusoges and then they'll realize what the rest of us have been talking about and start complaining to Game Freak, too.

I don't really engage with competitive Pokémon at all, can someone explain why it's considered an issue to cheat in your Pokémon? I can maybe get that officially it'd be disapproved but do actual players/fans care? Isn't the point of the VGC the actual skill of outplaying your opponent with superior strategy as opposed to grinding a lot?

It’s the same as people getting pissed at Nintendo not allowing Slippy for a Melee tournament. The company wants you to use their method. If you don’t agree to this, you don’t play.

        These analogies are fricking terrible
If Smash Bros had a tournament, and the entire point of the tournament was to celebrate the release of a handful of DLC characters, don't get mad when asked if you bought the characters you're playing as.

That makes some sense I suppose. I guess if what

there is very little skill involved in VGC past the teambuilding stage.
it's all just hoping random chance works out in your favor, with parahax, flinching, ally switch, etc.

says is correct then its perhaps understandable, though intuitively it seems like a weird thing to build competitions on at that point.

It's the fact there's no real reason to cheat anymore. You can catch a wild Dondonzo and have it be VGC ready in less than half an hour if you actually play the games because of how easy GF has made it with shit like mints and bottle caps, but most VGC players don't actually play the main games beyond having them to be able to compete. I remember seeing one of the big players during 7th gen complaining on twitter that they weren't far enough in the game to have the Z crystal they needed right before a big tournament.
In fact, there's no doubt in my mind that TPC wouldn't give a shit if Worlds wasn't being hosted in Japan this year but nips are super autistic about modifying game data.

Yeah, I haven't played the newer titles but I have heard that they've streamlined the process significantly. Thanks bros.

dont be moronic. the full sentence didn't need to be said because "in your pokemon" is just a nondescript topic for the subject of cheating. it can be replaced by anything.
          >in chess
          >in sports
          >in any game
et cetera. asking why it's an issue to cheat in anything, much less pokemon, shows a blatant disregard of the rules entirely, and proof of someone who does not belong in a competitive setting whatsoever.

            Anonymous

It's not a nondescript topic, and you know that, which is why you cut it out. You're dishonest because you know the truth isn't enough to condemn on its own, and you don't believe in your prescribed positions.

    >reward is bragging rights about a game for toddlers and enough money to maybe cover the trip expenses
    >is shocked that people are not in fact treating this game like their job because they have other things to do
Cheating is absolutely wrong and you shouldn't be doing it, but TPC made this bed with the way the VGC is ran in the first place. It's genuinely not a shock that this is the environment they've fostered.

This isn't even me dismissing the QoL we've gotten. It's genuinely nice that we've gotten things like Bottlecaps or the Vitamin rework. But it still all takes time to do your research, plan a team, raise a team most likely from scratch, and then get used to using that team and possibly having to tweak it which may fall back to raising even more Pokemon from scratch. When you only have a few months to get all this set up, even spending 20 hours is a good chunk of time you could instead be spending doing something else.

inb4 some tard misreads my post and thinks I'm saying cheating is okay or something.

It is 100% TPCI'a fault. They need to either outright ban people who even have a whiff of hacked mons from ever competing again, or make an official Pokemon showdown simulator.

I dont know why morons are whining about time and money though. If you compare an esport to a regular sport, then you're doing the same thing (spending time, money and resources to perfect your game). The comparison only goes so far before it falls apart.

Either people admit they don't care about playing the games and spending time making the team and want to basically just play battle simulator or they shut up about it.

Why is it ok for some rich e-celeb to recruit crazed followers to do grunt work for them but it's wrong for an average joe to do the same thing but with a computer ? Both are just a means to get the "choose your fighter" part of the selection screen. Where the actual competition begins
