Ogerpon has different masks

In the trailer they show "oger ballons" with different types.
Watch as Ogerpon is revealed to be pure ghost type and it's grass, fire and water masks allow it to change types.

This even fits with types on the lanterns in the dlc's official art.

Do we genuinely care when the mask forms are just giant flat masks?
They could have done so much more

This was probably the most disappointing thing about the trailer honestly.
        >see it powering up
        >think it’ll either take off the mask or the mask will upgrade to a giant oni king suit
And we just end up getting this.

Fully agreed. First they showed those crystal horns so I thought it turned into a scary Japanese ogre with big horns or tusks or something, but it's literally just the same face/mask but bigger. Super disappointing.

    >Ogrepon's "Tera Form" is nothing but a gigantic sparkly mask still attached to the tiny body
    >Terpagos' "Tera Form" is the design that should have been used for the Pokemon itself
    >both of these will disappear the moment Scarlet and Violet are no longer the most current mainline games
Why did they bother with any of this. What an enormous waste. Most of the other Legendaries and Mythicals get to keep their form changes or fusions after the fact. These two get stripped down and left with nothing afterwards.

those guys are meta defying and loved by fans. Generic grass coombait with a digimon mask and neopet turtle are not.

besides, the DLC isn't even out yet, why are you pretending that you already know how it's gonna turn out?

They're gonna appear in Gen 10 games at least but after that yeah they're pretty much gone
I doubt we'll even be getting Legendary Raids since it'd be too much bloat from how many of them exist now

        >Cosmog's Line, Necrozma, and its forms were allowed into SwSh following the game's Home update
        >Hero Duo, Eternatus, Urshifu, Calyrex and its Steeds were all allowed into SV following its Home update
Gen IX Legendaries will most certainly not reappear in whatever mainline game comes next, but they will be available in Gen X's core games for sure.

I wouldn't be so sure. Game Freak absolutely LOVES cramming in Legendary marathons these days in order to make up for the lack of post-game content. By Legendary marathons, I don't refer to scenarios where the Legendaries have little side quests attached to them like some species have in The Crown Tundra or Legends: Arceus. More so referring to stuff like ORAS' Hoopa Rings, USUM's Ultra Wormholes, Crown Tundra's Dynamax Adventures, and BDSP's Ramanas Park.

How is this going to translate in the next game when they abandon Tera?

That's what I was saying. There is no way that Ogrepon and Terapagos emerge from this situation unscathed unless they have great parameters going for them. Good typings, powerful signature moves, strong Abilities, serviceable BST. Even those won't stop the fact that their designs will be lacking after the fact. Terapagos in particular.

They're going to end up worse than Dragapult. Which is why I can't really get hyped for any of this

          Anonymous

At least Dragapult is "complete" at the end of the day. It's a strong, fully-evolved Pseudo Legendary that sticks with its theme of being a stealth fighter jet... that also happens to be a dragon lol.
That aside though, I agree with you. My excitement for either Pokemon drained following the reveal of the stupid "Tera Forms", knowing that these two Pokemon will potentially lose so much of themselves after GF move on from this pair of games.

Dragapult really needs just one physical ghost move to be really good without dynamax. Then again Gamefreak refuses to do so, along with strong physical Fire and electric moves that don't take recoil. It's one of the reasons Flareon is so bad. poltergeist would be busted on Dragapult but they gave it to gengar who is mainly SpA lmao

I kept telling people these gimmicks are fricking moronic and having pokemon centered around gimmicks only hurts it in the long run. I'm not even a megasgay, but it's not hard to see why it was the best gimmick they had. They really fricked up by not having that as the standard. We would've have so many more megas right now if they didn't abandon it like they do with everything else. This fricking sucks.

Having Pokemon designed around gimmicks that do not pertain to held items, key items, or Abilities truly is a mistake of the franchise. Like, we will NEVER see Ultra Necrozma again, save for when Sun and Moon are remade a decade from now. Something like the Weather Trio’s Primal Reversions/Mega Evolutions or Urshifu’s G-Max forms I can sort of do without since the base Pokemon can still stand on their own in terms of design, gameplay, and lore. Still, not a fan of things being removed, and I dislike the current situation concerning the two DLC Legendaries.
