It seems to me to be more of a half-hearted attempt by the corporation behind the Funkos to create a new "brand" like the Lego games. They even hired the Traveller's Tale wizard who worked on the Lego game (perhaps this explains why the game seems surprisingly high quality for clearly being a corporate product forced by suits who have no idea what they're doing).
