Quake and CS are the epitome of skill based shooters. Arguably CS is more mechanical than Quake too.

Counter Strike is basic as frick, has almost NO mechanics to be talked about or creativity, and its as rigid as rock paper cissors. I really think the people that have 4000 hours on it is because they can't play anything else on their PCs back then, or can't now.

Cs is both mechanically challenging and the depth of tactical coordination is insane.
If you think it is just running into a position and shooting when you see the enemy, you’re not going to get far. You need to know where your enemy is coming from even before you see him. You need to calculate all the possible variables of what your enemies might be doing, with what utility and weapons. Only if you calculate their tactics on the fly, you will have a chance to not be in disadvantage. You need an advantage, be it through superior game sense or coordination with teammates, and only after that you need that superior AIM and movement, both which are simple as frick in theiry, but require years of training in practice.
