When they talk about remakes, they don't mean the same thing as everyone else. FF7 REMAKE is not a remake of FF7, it's a continuation of the FF7 story where you are playing through a time frickery caused by sephirot. FF7 REMAKE is more like "FF7-2" than anything you'd consider a remake.

But the story (or lack off) and what they did to Spira (which was a fantastic world with a interesting lore and history) can only be described as abominations. I have an strange feeling. This game is 22 years old yet it still holds up quite well. It's from an era where we were still using VHS tapes, analog photo cameras and CRT TVs, and the internet was a thing but people really didn't use it that much. The reason why this feels uncanny is because this was considered cutting edge back then while still looking quite decent even today in a completely different era.

You'd have to be a soulless butthole to want to change FFX from turn base into an action game or any other genre. The game being dead rooted into turn base combat makes it impossible to see it in any other genre. That said, they'd probably go with a faster pace style turn base similar to X-2 and XIII. I figure something liked no random encounters and seeing enemies on the map while touching them to go into battle would be neat but then you'd ruin the fun of running into monsters like marlboro or tonberry. FFX's combat was just that damn interesting.

I would prefer if they work on FF8 Remake first, then move on to FF10. Both wouldn't need to be 3 games long, so I think the pipeline would be the following, assuming that ex-Luminous staff will be working on other things:

If they had any real talent they'd just update the PC version to support pathtracing, upgrade a lot of the materials to be PBR compliant, maybe change out some of the particle systems for magic and ambient environmental effects for volumetric effects and you'd have a remake essentially.
There's nothing that a remake could contribute to the series that would meaningfully enhance the experience of the story, I don't think it left anything left unsaid and the audio novella is an abomination.

One of the things I like about X is its almost experimental vibe. The camera's really weird and they use a lot of strange effects. They'll probably get rid of the turn-based combat, stuff the thing full of sidequest markers and maybe even replace the voice actors. Even if they keep them they'd probably sound too old these days. They might even replace the OST. Either way, I have no hope for this at all.
They'll also kill the southeast Asian vibe of the characters I imagine. They did it already in the remaster. Everyone looks more japanese and more "normal"
I don't know if I'd call it "more Japanese" but they definitely tried to make them look more "normal" or more anime style. That + the doll expressions makes the remaster so fricked. I always appreciates how FFX characters kinda looked flawed in a human way.
