its connected because its part of one game, but planescape and FF just set different expectations for the campaign.
They exist more next to each other than as one whole.
I played pic related and its 3 follow ups but nothing else until BG3 now. While i distinctly remember owning BG2 because it was that thick 3-4 cd box i dont think i ever played it for more than an hour.
Slopdur's Gate 3 chuds would get eaten alive in a single mage encounter in original Infinity Engine games. Just one mage. No need for multiples of them.
NOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO INSTALL SCS SO EVERY FIGHT REQUIRES 10 MINUTES OF BUFFING BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL DIDN'T JERK OFF MAGES HARD ENOUGH AND INQUISITOR AND DRUID HAVE TO BE NERFED BECAUSE ONLY MAGES SHOULD BE POWERFUL
Bg2/BG1 SCS true solo no reload on Insane was done (jk I died when exiting the fricking underdark and RQ)
Icewind dale is stupidly boring and I will never play this game eve again, do not play it.
Planescape torment is not my cup of tea, I really did not enjoy it.
Install Revised Battles v6.3. It's an underrated old mod that now works with EE. Makes tons of other less important fights in the game harder. Just don't install the Firkraag component with Stratagems dragons.
I've played with it before and it's alright. Honestly if I ever feel like playing BGII nowadays I just install the general AI, creature, and area improvements from the questpack mod. They're not hard games once you know what you're doing and I've always found SCS to just make the game become super tedious.
The funny part is that SCStards just get around the EPIC COMPLICATED MAGE DEBUFF SYSTEM by using aoe magic damage against everything, since the SCS devs are mage wienersuckers that intentionally gimp the AIs so that they never use protection from magical energy. Every SCS playthrough becomes skull trap and horrid wilting spamming unless you feel like dying of boredom.
Do I also finish Darksun and OG Dragonlance series too?
What about the beatem up or the fighting game that happens after Soth gets isekied? That one too?
I know next to nothing about dragonlance, but the cut out of lord soth art you posted is in my opinion best dnd villain art out there, it just captures the felling of menacing villain
They don't make fantasy art like they used to
He is pretty popular, and got some sort of Lord Vader treatment through the story.
Went from cool hero, to dick, to absolute mentally unwell villian.
Then he kindda got fricked over since he got a redemption arc after being put in a crossover with another DnD setting, and became good again before getting killed.
Kindda awesome thou.
If you want the evil Lawful Evil villian knight with some code of honor despite being a powerful sick frick, then Soth comes to the picture.
>Dark Sun
Absolutely. Shattered Lands is one of the best SI games they ever made. Wake of the Ravager is so and so, mostly due to bugs, but it's still a good one.
Should I buy the bundle with these games on humble bundle? I don't even really like reading books in my vidya so I'm not sure these will all be fun but icewind Dale always intrigued me and I could probably make use of bg2 and pathfinder righteous. The only experience I have with these games is I'm currently almost finished DOS2.
I did recently, and was taken aback by how underwhelming they are compared to 2000s and 2010s crpgs. After a decade of listening to homosexuals here hype them up as second coming of christ, I genuinely thought these would be solid 9/10s with the best writing, gameplay, combat, characters and rpg elements in the genre, but they turned out to rather basic and bare bones on every level. Don't get me wrong, they're decent rpgs, just nowhere as good as they're hyped up to be.
>IWD
Ez as frick game, just go fighter/mage/cleric munchkin since the level cap is the same regardless of number of classes. >baldur's gate
You can beat the game with wands and consumables. >BG2
Beat it when I was 8 with some random grug party where even the mages attacked in melee. >PST
By far the hardest IE game, ended up stealthing by all the combat encounters since I was somehow completely underleveled and undergeared for everything.
You will feel right at home as a BG player. Same graphics, mechanics, setting. Only it's like if someone had teleported you to a very distant and quiet corner of the world, as the events of BG1&2 take place.
place the names in the search bar of this page and read it. Then ignore half of it and cringe at the other half. And once you are done with it, build a paladin and smite your enemies to death.

I fr don't even know what those games are, were they on that really old console the Xbox Original?
I ain't bussin with buying an ancient wooden console like that when my PS5 is fire on god no cap
I beat bg and icewind dale 2 decades ago. I tried torment much later but i was having compatibility issues. I tried bg2 but droped it for whatever reason shortly after leaving the sewers. I got the recent humble bundle that has all of them so I'll get to them eventually though I'll need to find some mods to remove the ~~*enhanced*~~ cancer
rtwp is meant to be a compromise between RTS and turn based. There’s too many spells in d&d for it to be rts, and turn based is boring/pointless when a computer can automate all that for you.
I played all of those, Goldbox games, Divine Divinity, Pillars of Eternity, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights 1, 2 and Mask of the Betrayer, Driftmoon, Lionheart. I love these kinds of games and wish BG3 let me have RtwP in single-player.
I loved Planescape Torment but I just can't get into BG2 for some reason. I guess I don't like the combat in any of these games after all, and it was pretty shit in PS:T as well
Planescape is not DnD based.
You're right, but Forgotten Realms is part of Planescape
Its DnD but not forgotten realms
Why do people keep saying that?
>muh campaign
>muh setting
It's clearly connected
its connected because its part of one game, but planescape and FF just set different expectations for the campaign.
They exist more next to each other than as one whole.
It runs on D&D 2e (or ADND, ain't sure) and Planescape is an official setting of D&D.
You know you don't have to say things if you don't know them to be correct right?
AD&D 2nd Edition is where the setting is from and Planescape Torment uses the rules from that edition as well.
i invented liking infinity engine crpgs
I love DnD games, i played only planescape, and never touched crpg again.
It was unfun, but i had fun playing it, what am i?
moronic
>he hasn't played Icewind Dale 2
I have but I don't like 3rd edition.
don't worry it's 95% 2nd
>no toee
POSER!
neverwinter nights 2 is the only good dnd crpg
D&D 3.5e in general is the only version of D&D that is worth translating into a video game.
Black folk tongue my anus
Videogame DnD is for the losers that make shitty characters and get kicked out of tables, or losers too scared to join a table.
>If youre going to spend a friday knight pretending to be an elf, at least do it with some friends
Real life DnD is only worth it for getting laid with nerd chicks
I don't do that. I like Pathfinder.
I dropped planescape because it was a book, not a game.
I'm 30 y/o and read many fantasy and scifi books on my free time.
I played pic related and its 3 follow ups but nothing else until BG3 now. While i distinctly remember owning BG2 because it was that thick 3-4 cd box i dont think i ever played it for more than an hour.
I already beat all those games when they originally released. However, I don't like D&D. Also, Dark Sun is better than all of those settings.
I liked Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment, but I didn't like Baldur's Gate.
where them patches come from, anon?
Funny how all of those games are better than BG3. Zoomers really overhype the shittiest games.
Slopdur's Gate 3 chuds would get eaten alive in a single mage encounter in original Infinity Engine games. Just one mage. No need for multiples of them.
>cast breach
>mage folds as quickly as a kobold
Woah, crazy.

Whenever I'm done soloing tactician bg3, I'll probably go back to it. Thanks
Soloing bg3 feels like it requires waaay more cheesing that bg2 though...
I've played with it before and it's alright. Honestly if I ever feel like playing BGII nowadays I just install the general AI, creature, and area improvements from the questpack mod. Why don't you use Carsomyr? What's wrong with you?
>spell immunity: abjuration
heh... time for a bit of rough and tumble... kid...
I actually hate SCS for this exact reason. It's caster wank to the extreme and I already don't like how much of a caster wank BG2 was.
>It's caster wank to the extreme
As soon as I saw the nerf inquisitor and insect plague options I knew what SCS was really about
Do I also finish Darksun and OG Dragonlance series too?

They will feel very overwhelming in the beginning, but when you get used to it they're all fantastic, especially BG2
is it worth playing them?
I did recently, and was taken aback by how underwhelming they are compared to 2000s and 2010s crpgs. And you call others zoomers and plebs.
Only one of those I haven't played yet are the Icewind Dale games because I hear it's mostly just combat. I'll get to it someday.
You will feel right at home as a BG player. Same graphics, mechanics, setting. Only it's like if someone had teleported you to a very distant and quiet corner of the world, as the events of BG1&2 take place.
You're weak.
All of you.
There is a gay in that game.
There is a gay in your chair.
I want to play a haunted suit of armor. What build would be best for this in the TT?
sorry but I don't play RPGs without gay romance options
I played Planescape Torment and loved it, then I played BG1 and I found it boring as frick.
Whats the difference between
>Eberron
>Dragonlance
>Forgotten Realms
>Greyhawk
Mostly different overarching stories. All the way to the gods typically
the fundamental rules of the settings are all different
place the names in the search bar of this page and read it. Then ignore half of it and cringe at the other half. And once you are done with it, build a paladin and smite your enemies to death.

I play real d&d.
>implying the not-Divinity 3 players could finish Icewind Dale
I did. Torment was the only one I actually enjoyed, and Arcanum beats all 4.
only played BG1, it was neat
me and a few friends are playing NWN1
I'm not into DnD at all
now that the dust has settled:
Icewind dale 2: kino or cringe?
Not as good as the first one
Need more Mystara games.
And how is the modesty filter for BG3?
I fr don't even know what those games are, were they on that really old console the Xbox Original?
I ain't bussin with buying an ancient wooden console like that when my PS5 is fire on god no cap
90% of people would be filtered by the ancient gameplay mechanics of those games - and for a good reason. Those games aged like milk, anon.
>casts cloudkill
>rests
For me it's Warhammer. All of the autism, none of the social interaction past dick-measuring lore fights on /tg/
I beat bg and icewind dale 2 decades ago. I tried torment much later but i was having compatibility issues. I tried bg2 but droped it for whatever reason shortly after leaving the sewers. I'm trying baldur's gate 1, first hours and I feel playing a single character age of empires more than an rpg itself
rtwp is meant to be a compromise between RTS and turn based. There’s too many spells in d&d for it to be rts, and turn based is boring/pointless when a computer can automate all that for you.
rtwp is shit for adhd morons
seethe
Also, Neverwinter Nights 1 (play Swordflight and Aielund)
How is Icewind?
Dungeon crawler BG without the RPG but you can take your party to level 30 in HOF.
Played all those. BG1 was great. BG2 is not very good.
Only homosexual boomers are playing BG3. There's not gunna be any RPGs made after this unironically.
I loved Planescape Torment but I just can't get into BG2 for some reason. I guess I don't like the combat in any of these games after all, and it was pretty shit in PS:T as well
