There's a survey Jagex is hosting that asks players the question if they would like a rerelease of the game without any updates whatsoever.
There's insider information that a lot of Jagex moderators have left the company on what appears to be an addition of microtransactions added to the game.
Recently, Jagex decided to add a pride event ingame aswell, despite opposition from the playerbase and the failed event 5 years ago.
It should be no surprise here that the company has been recently bought by Carlyle. An "equity investment company" that even has links to 9/11.
It looks like after boosting their ESG score, they are looking towards adding MTX.

I recently came back and although it was fun doing motherlode mine, tempoross, wintertodt and seeing the drops and exp rake in, I felt empty inside afterwards because shit like this actually kills the game. There's no point in mining in the dwarven mine, or fishing at catherby anymore.
As silly as it sounds, the nostalgia factor also adds onto you competing with other people for resources, and that's just not a thing in OSRS because there's like 300 worlds to choose from if your spot is taken.

One thing I actively dislike about OSRS is this shit. The energy mechanic is as precious and delicate as the combat, only it's useful for literally 99% of the game. Now everyone is always walking around wearing Graceful by default. You barely get to see people's actual player model anymore.

There's no point to play a rerelease of it because all the cancerous stuff that makes the game unfun is still there. The ancient combat system, prayer flicking, tick manipulation, community for who the only important part of content is how much xp it gives, etc. One thing it might help with it is making skilling at least a little relevant for some time.

if OSRS wants to work, it has to do something to fix the social aspect of the game. Make MINIGAMES(not bosses) have the best rewards. Have rare fish that heal the msot health come out of fishing trawler. Crafting 2 or 3x xp for stealing creation. Create a funny wrestling miniquest for gnomeball that lets you chokeslam gnomes in gnomeball. Neat outfits for gnomes/characters in the gnome restauraunt. The game thrived because of its community, and since autists refuse to create a working economy again because they got coddled by the GE, they need to create danger and careful planning so you cant jsut teleport everywhere by capes or lodestones again. Selling laws in seers was a viable strategy because you could make 1k each since players didnt have a way back
and for fricks sake, give the game the run energy update, grinding agility to 55 for full gracefuls or having to bring half an inventory of stamina pots to do anything is moron
