On a scale from 1 to 10, how big of a disaster do you think it'll be?
Let's say on PC, a week after release, what user rating will it have on Steam? I'm thinking <40% mostly negative
>Inb4 ur crying PS5 gay!
No I'm a PC gay, I have quite literally never played a single game on the consoles that was also available on pc at that time
bump
It’s not going to be a financial disaster at least
If you're actually a PCgay, what's your excuse for being this delusional?
Snoys always make threads like this kek
>OOH I SWEAR I HAVE LE GOOD PC, MY FELLOW RIG GAMERS
This reeks of tendie malding over GOTY actually. Those filthy sewer rats are far more numerous. Add Scam Shitizen freaks in the mix and here we are.
Do not spread misinformation about our lord and savoir Chris Roberts.
I've noticed an uptick in scam citizen threads ever since the direct. If these "people" really think they can convince gamers to play some moronic larping sandbox tech demo over todds masterpiece they are delusional. Can't wait to see the meltdown when backers realize what happened with their money.
There are so many ways this good be so bad, and just a hand full of ways it could be good.
Sad thing is, most npc's don't like what's good, but what's bad.
I don’t much care for space shit I guess I’ll just keep modding Skyrim until TES6 comes out
Only Fallout 76 was a disaster, Starfield should go smoothly it's a traditional Bethesda game and the nexus will be flooded with mods in no time.
Saying it's going to flop is equally as moronic as saying it's going to be some massive paradigm shift in gaming. It'll just be another average, 'wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle' Bethesda Open World Experience™. Nothing more, nothing less.
how can you honestly say bethesda games are as deep as a puddle? the faction quests alone make skyrim and oblivion deeper than most games
weak bait, try harder next time
He's not fricking wrong though. Bethesda games have more depth to them than 99% of other titles and I have no idea where the "deep as a puddle" meme came from.
I love how the aggressive delusions of Beth drones are getting worse and worse with the each week on this board.
From: >No Mans Sky.
Cuz the game is shit i cant believe i brought that shit 6 months ago. 8 hours of playing i have.
it could easily "flop". Every other Bethesda game released on all systems while this one wont and on top of that gamepass will kill sales on Xbox
it will be the highest rated game of all time if todd adds aliens
Lyrans would be so fricking cash, but the suits likely pressured Howard to just not include them or aliens at all.
She really is pretty
There is a 0 % you will like it.
There is a 100% chance it will be a success.
I believe there is a very good chance you will get the big mad about the latter.
Don't give a frick and didn't read your gay post

dude xbox x cpu's equiualent to 5800 x and the game runs on it at 30 fps
i dont think you'll be able to run the game on a 5800x considering the lack of directstorage and the optimization tax leveraged on pc
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
you don't seriously believe this do you
YES
THANK YOU FOR RESTORING MY FAITH
73 DAYS TO GO, BROTHERS
Both of those replies are stupid.
X's cpu is excellent. I wouldn't exactly say it's identitcal to 5800x3d, it's closer to being halway between 3700 and 5800 (but 8 core), but the problem is that CPU's dont evolve nearly as fast as gpus do so the difference there wouldn't be massive.
Maybe the console's 10% slower than 5800, maybe it's 20%, that only translated to 3-6 frames when you're locked to 30
the real question is that we don't know how well the game runs on xbox really, 30 fps lock doesn't mean it runs at 30, it could be capable of running it at 50 but they just decided that 30 will feel more smooth
also directstorage decreasing cpu requirements and games being horribly optimized for pcs on the cpus side of things are both very legit points, I still would say you'll probably be able to run the game at least at 30 fps on 5800X3D but we reaelly just dont know for now
Todd actually mentioned that the game could run higher but they deliberately chose to cap it for smoothness.
>"Fortunately in this one, we've got it running great. It's often running way above that. Sometimes it's 60," he continued, referring to the game's performance on PC. "But on the consoles, we do lock it because we prefer the consistency, where you're not even thinking about it."

lol never mind, just saw it says on PC
I fricked up
That's headcanon on the article writer's part. The interview is just what he says there. He's not saying it doesn't reach 60 on consoles, but that it can and is simply locked at 30 for consistency.
>Sometimes it's 60," he continued, referring to the game's performance on PC
>Be running the game on a 3000$ PC with 13900k and 4090
>Sometimes be able to hit 60

>>Be running the game on a 3000$ PC with 13900k and 4090
don't forget the 64 gigs of 12000 mhz ram and an overall power draw of 1500 watts
://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/starfield-will-be-locked-to-30-fps-on-xbox-todd-howard-explains-why
>We do lock it at 30, because we want that fidelity, we want all that stuff. We don't want to sacrifice any of it."
Yeah right it's not like you're locking it to 30 because you're trying to do procedurally generated worlds with custom user made content on an engine from 2004 that can only really use one cpu core which causes huge cpu bottlenecks making the gpu idle while the cpus trying to do all the work
Ok, that one is a fricking lie. If you could consistently hold 60 most of the time, you'd just lock it at 60 and deal with the occasional frame drops.
Paragraphs of console peasant cope
A gpu from 6 years ago still out performs modern consoles

Dude, it only has 4MB of L3 cache and runs at 3.4GHz when multithreading. Its weaker than ryzen 1600.
>equivalent
but it's not a 5800x, it's a scaled down mobile chip version of it and it's probably set to 30 fps because that's what it can do stable. I would expect 45-50 fps that's not stable

No need to lie Snoy, it's bloody obvious. Anyways the bar is set low enough with terrible PC games that all Bethesda really needs to do is make sure it's not any more buggy than Skyrim or Fallout 4 were.

>snoy trying to make a big brain post
I guarantee it's going to be riddled with Cyberpunk 2077 tier performance issues that will have people b***hing, youtubers screeching, and stocks tanking for months after. I can already tell they are incompetent with the moronic decisions they make like keeping around unnecessary features like physics enabled on every pointless item that you can't even interact with and procedurally generating planets (cells that are only a small region at best), shit that does nothing to make the game better or the gameplay. Devs like that are always moronic and end up tacking bullshit feature after feature, delaying production times, all at the behest of some stupid 'ideas guy' who has no idea what the tax on his boyish fantasies are.
Unbeliever. You and your ilk will be the laughing stock of the kingdom once the game comes out buttery smooth and
FRICKING
FLAWLESS
REPENT NOW b***h
People have played the Series X version of this game and had no problems with the performance.
cyberpunk didnt have any issues at all for me on PC at launch, it was just a shit game. Starfield wont be a shit game, so i dont see a problem
This. Even without the bugs, Cyberpunk would still be solidly a bottom of the barrel 1/10 game. There's a reason why many people call it one of the worst games ever made. Fallout 4 effortlessly did everything Cyberpunk was trying to do a hundred times better, and Fallout 4 was miles behind Skyrim.
It won’t deliver but shills will defend it anyway. So ratings will be high
It just needs to be decent and it'll win GOTY. If they manage to miraculously avoid a troonypunk/No Guy Buy/Fallout 69 shitshow tier launch, they're golden.
I like how they’re associated with 2 out of 3 failures you’ve mentioned. Chances are slim at best
>winning GOTY
TOTK is locked in already, "journalists" that aren't either nintendo or sony fanboys are the vast minority.
wtf is that real?
I think it'll do fine, it'll be Fallout 4 but with competent storytelling. Expectations are so low that one cool sci-fi idea or a basic functional plot will blow people away
It's more similar to oblivion, daggerfall, fnv and fallout 3 than Fallout 4 when it comes to rpg mechanics and questing
Not surprising since Todd has admitted that they went too far with Fallout 4 with the lack of RPG mechanics. So far what they've shown has more things going for it than what Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 4 had.
None of that shit matters to anyone but the first million or so buyers, beyond that in the territory that matters to Bethesda it's just GTA morons that don't know a good mechanic if it tears their wiener off
Its going to be NMS but with FO4 combat and that will be enough for GOTY.
90%+
No i dont like it, but that's reality.
They have literally nothing in common
they do tho
>, how big of a disaster do you think it'll be?
objection, leading question
>Morrowind: Overwhelmingly Positive
>Oblivion: Overwhelmingly Positive
>Skyrim: Overwhelmingly Positive
>Fallout 3: Overwhelmingly Positive
>Fallout 4: Very positive
I think you're just coping anon
replace overwhlemingly positive with mostly positive and you're correct
bump
honestly, it'll be a 3 or 4. it'll be the same buggy bethesda experience but not as bad as FO76, maybe slightly better than FO4's launch experience, but still buggy as frick. people will complain about it, but starfield will still sell a frickzillion dollars and be GOTY of 2023
Wrong, it'll be like 20% approved on Steam because it will be the worst triple A release in modern history with the vast majority of players not being able to play the game because it will require a 7800x3d+ to even run the thing at 30 fps
idk i'll be too busy playing it

You are a delusional idiot.
It will be a broken pile of shit, but it will be a huge financial success.
Such is the way of things
It won't be. I don't think any of their games bar 76 has ever been a certifiable disaster.
It will be less buggy than FO76
Bug compilations will dot israelitetube in less than 12 hours
1000 planets is a meme, realistically there's only 4-5
The main quest doesn't make sense and is open ended

i'll probably wait a week or two to buy it though, bethesda games are jank as frick week 1, hopefully the worst of it is patched within a week or two. plus sometimes you can pick it up on sale at that point.
You've made this thread already.

it will be the greatest vidya game of all time
>how big of a disaster do you think it'll be?
Every Bethesda game built on their archaic, heavily frankensteined, bug-filled, and severely limited NetImmerse engine has been a disaster upon release.
It doesn’t have enough hype to be a tortanic, nor does it have enough hype or appeal to normies to secure GOTY. It’s going to be a solid 7.5/10 and will be played for a couple months by Bethesda fanatics and a couple weeks by everyone else.
I haven't been following Starfields dev cycle super closely and I'm really not sure. It will be a buggy mess on release there's no denying that but it remains to be seen if anything will be game breakingly buggy. Textures not loading properly, cloth physics going janky, ai pathfinding being fricked, etc that people can forgive. But if there are broken quests worse yet if they are broken main quests that will put a big dent in the ratings. Besides that there's the issue of it being a new ip. I think the Bethesda formula will draw in a lot of die hard Bethesda fans. But I think a lot of the more casual people who may recognize the developer but are more familiar with the individual games will be turned off by a new ip. They want a new fallout or elder scrolls and I think that amount of people is greater than the amount of people who don't know anything and will get it just because it's a sci fi game. So If I had to make a prediction I'd say it'll have a somewhat rocky but mostly successful launch that will slowly peter out and not reach the level of a Fallout 4 or Skyrim.
What's got you worried?
>no fuel
I was really hoping that outposts were going to be important to beating the game by providing the infrastructure to go deeper and deeper into space. What even is the point of building outposts and mining resources?
The fuel sets a limit on how far you can travel. ie: if you have more fuel you can go further.
https://www.pcgamesn.com/starfield/ship-fuel
If I can play as digitigrade space khajiit with big breasts, aka lyrans, idc if I need a 6090 ti to play it at the lowest settings, Howard could have every paycheck I get.
not even fallout 76 got it that bad. it'll be between 70 and 75
The worst part of Bethesda is the people boycotting it. Like Cyberpunk or Halo Infinite, they'll break that boycott once it's "good". I will never fricking buy a game at launch, and if it's ever disastrous, I'll never buy or pirate it period. No matter how much "better" it gets. No matter how many bugs are patched. No matter what the cheaters do with their so called mods. No matter if they remake the whole fricking game. The devs have proven that they do not deserve my money or attention.
I think it will be like Cyberpunk but less bad. It'll be broken at launch and the people who like these games will ignore the bugs and everyone else will complain about them.
The way they're talking, it seems like Starfield will have millions of pointless things to do, but nothing actually worthwhile or memorable. It's classic Bethesda all quantity, no quality, except spread over star systems rather than a single country.
It just looks boring. I get they must be keeping a lot close to their chest but as far as a brand new IP space opera goes there seems to be a lack of creativity. I keep thinking back to Mass Effect and what a cool layered universe they populated with cool aliens and interstellar politics and setting defining technology and then compare it to "NASA punk" with a motley assortment of goofy looking humans straight out of downtown detroit and have to wonder what they were thinking. Here's your Omega equivalent bro
>here are your sexy ayyz
Mass effect was cool but slick, curvaceus and slippery.
I prefer Starfield art and style. It is more ... manly.
same it feels quite uninspired design and lore wise
maybe they're hiding something else for a hype boost when it comes out
>same it feels quite uninspired design and lore wise
Every game they made after Morrowind was insanely boring and uninspired design and lore-wise.
That is what they do. That is their brand. "Generic". "Safe". "Basic". Why would you ever expect Starfield to differ from a formula that has been making them billions for over a decade now?

going to be jank on release day, but going to be charming and fun
first few mods will fix the most serious issues and the ability to murder any npc would fix 90% of the problems
>I'm thinking <40% mostly negative
That's delusional. Even Fallout 76 is above 70% right now.
what was it a week after release moron
>I'm definitely a PC fan, haven't owned a Sony PlayStation product since the Sony PlayStation 2.
My dad and I are both looking forward to it 🙂
>No I'm a PC gay
If you have a good enough PC, whats the problem, Snoy?
9/10 Bethesda is going to be in big trouble with Zenimax so they will put every bit of effort into making the next Elder Scrolls a masterpiece to get their audience back.
It's easily GOTY and Action RPG of the Decade, if Todd manages to not make it worse than Skyrim or Fallou 3. Bethesda hasn't produced anything that wasn't a terrible garbage since Skyrim, yet entire AAA gaming market is not at all better. So if they at least manage to get the level of quality of games from 15 years ago, it'll be one of the best modern games.
its going to be buggy toddslop trash
