Kind of sort of agree, calamity is pretty decent but its definitely over bloated. This is why I prefer thorium. Calamity has some great ideas but tries wayyyy too hard. Since the incoming damage control is some comment about my skill, no I've beaten it on every mode. It's just not the best, its only ok and I dont feel rewarded for "beating it".

Thanks for reminding me to install MLP gals in my modded Skyrim.
Yes and Yes.
The main guy behind the mod has a female MLP oc they use as an avatar and he's self-inserted it into the mod twice, technicallly 3 times.
Once as a recruit npc that has dialogue creeping on all the female NPCs. Sells alcohol, one of them being named after himself iirc
The second one being a mount which is just his OC. Funny thing is that
People complained about how ugly it was before, since it was blatantly a ripoff of Cadence. That's why it now has an ugly piss filter.
isn't even the same item, it's another MLP OC mount.
The third being a weapon named named after himself but it's up to you whether turning yourself into a weapon is a self-insert or not.
>Nerfing other mods
Didnt stop me from breaking his silly mod with thorium lol >All that dumb overpowered gear getting overshadowed by a fricking life stealing knife you can get pre moonlord
I never used mods on Terraria, ever.
Unless it enhances vanilla while not overshadow it, bonus if it readds all unused content like Consolaria, but I won't use "Quality of Life" mods because it's cringe, imagine being this jaded from mining 12 gold ores to use a mod that blasts entire blocks of ore by mining a single block and have a item that automatically makes a house for you rather building one for yourself. No wonder how you hate video games.
Every israelitetube vids about Terraria challenges or whatever is using DM Dokuno's Calamity OSTs.
Having played Calamity both alone and with a group of friends, I like the abyss, the basegame should've had some equivalent of it.
However, it's far too bloated, too many worm bosses and almost every upgrade in armor and ore just gets shat on by the next boss and/or enemies on the list.
The mod also exacerbates the original burnout problem with Terraria in its endgame, that it turns into a boss rush.
I'll admit some of the endgame weapons look and act pretty cool.
Oh yeah the bossfight with the gay jungle dragon and the lyrics was fricking cringekino.
Harassed the shit out of Dokuro. Irrc gaysol was also annoying him. I always forget the full details but that's why he left. CDmusic replaced him, and while CDmusic is very good, he isn't going to top Roar of the Jungle Dragon. I don't particularly care for calamity but Terraria mod music hits different. Some of the fan Draedon themes are really good.

Is that why most of his calamity videos' comment section is turned off? Because little jimmy and co wouldn't stop bothering him on creating calamitas ost? Lmao

He deserved it 100%. The moment I heard his homosexualy voice in one of the songs I instantly lost all respect for him. The Old Duke's theme is still the best though.
sounds nothing like the vanilla game's music. where are the alien sounding crunchy sine oscillators and changing tempos? practically every original terraria track contained one of the two or both. this is generic shit youd find on a royalty free site. it's like they didnt even try to be faithful to the theme of the game
i think it's overrated, it's a rather tepid electronic soundtrack with only a few standouts, it's only regarded so highly because terraria's a popular indie game
i can think of many more indie games that have better soundtracks

It's a mix bag.
There are some Terraria soundtrack that are even better than other indie games.
For example: Boss 1/2, Overworld Night, Plantera, Lunar Events, Moon Lord, Empress of Light, even it's Deerclops Remix is better than DS.
There are some that are not.

i'd disagree, honestly none of those songs except Plantera are noteworthy
personally my favorites in the soundtrack are Frost Moon and the Underground Desert

Underground is the best track simply because of how simple it is and how effective it is.
for me, it's roar of the jungle dragon. it's pure cringekino and a perfect mix between anime songs and MGR

not even dokuro would be able to top roar of the jungle dragon. it was a one time thing and he nailed it, but nothing will come close and it basically has its own fanbase outside calamity

calamity is a MGR-esque mod. the boss tracks even play the same way
Calamity is good if you hit moon lord and thought "this game ends too early". Astrum Deus and providence are really fun fights, and the Abyss and sunken sea are also cool biomes. Some of you Black folk need to lighten up, but its understandable that it's not going to fit everyones taste of course. Also Moon lord himself has always been a shit fricking fight. he's an unfun little wienersucker.
Calamity is fun, and the base game is also fun. It just depends on the experience you want.
Personally I've played a ton of Terraria, so much so that the base game is very repetitive for me and I don't enjoy it as much anymore. The sheer amount of content calamity adds is really cool for me, especially since I really like the boss fights in Terraria. It gives the game a lot more longevity. It seems to be the opinion of a lot of people here that pre hardmode is the best part of the game but I couldn't disagree more. I think it's just slow and monotonous, the weapons and tools you have at your disposal are really low power and lame, they don't feel very fun to use. I've explored caves for hundreds of hours, I'm not that attached to spamming torches, mining ore, placing ropes, etc. If I wanted that experience I'd just go play Minecraft since it does it better.
Agreed, especially with how slow you move. If I have to go kill the brain of cthulu, I have to haul my slow ass all the way over there, bomb the hearts, climb back up to the arena, and use my shitty low damage single target weapon to take him down. Then if I manage to die I have to repeat it all over again. It would be more fun if I was faster and had more interesting weapons
Agreed, even with the mod community sucking ass and most of it being unbalanced with better huge mods out there like Spirit, Shadows of Abadon, StarsAbove and of course Thorium (most know as Terraria 2), Calamity still changed Terraria comunity and no one can deny this but they're right when whips suck and it's braindead gameplay.
And to be honest, most of the fun i had playing Calamity was more because DM Dokuro made absolute frickin bangers to the 2183932189 worm fight in the mod than anything else.
I like calamity but I am sure half of Calamity's power is in the music. Got me to look for all of DM Dokuro's stuff but too bad the autistic fanbase drove him away lmao
do you play with any other mods or just calamity by itself? i want magicstorage for sure, but there's a ton of other stuff too like different vendors that sell infinite potions and shit, which seems kinda cheaty. but if calamity is balanced around having that stuff then maybe it's ok?
For QoL magic storage, ore excavator and Fargo’s mutant. I like the biome fountains since it means I don’t have to set up an artificial biome, and the hellevators and instabridges are also nice.
what the frick happened to the mod
i last checked out the wiki when they added the endgame mech bosses but now there is basically double the amount of bosses since then with some of them being nothing more than dogshit paint .pngs
Basically my experience trying to use Stars Above and calamity at the same time, especially when the recipes get changed to need gay calamity endgame bars
>also nerfs vanilla items, including the Zenith, because nothing is allowed to surpass his gay power leveled garbage
why pick on the mod for this when regular terraria is just as much of a gay about this kind of thing?
you will do progression in the intended linear order
you will fight every boss in an arena or the sky by circle strafing and holding down the mouse button till one of you dies
you will not build 1 large base with everyone in it
Going to start my second modded playthrough. Is Calamity + Thorium a good idea? Thorium only? I'm thinking i'll play as summoner.
Calamity and Thorium are both modpack-sized mods and have a lot of balancing differences. It's best to play them separately imo.
And don't let anons dissuade you from trying out Calamity. Tastes are vary varied.
Isn't the only thing you really lose building a big town with everyone in it the convenient teleport network you didn't even have access to before they wanted you to build several houses in different biomes?
I don't consider the slight increase in item prices an issue.
What is stopping you from building like you used to?
I like Fargo's souls with a mod that adds accessory slots so I can equip the million trinkets before getting crucible.
Also needs some difficulty mod on top since equipping so many accessories is pretty op though.
If you never used overhaul mods with hugely increased difficulties they offer, you didn't beat the game. What you beat is only 10% of the game. What you beat is the babies first vanilla steps.
>adds a pre-boss mount that lets you drill at the speed of sound, making pickaxes pointless >adds an item that gives an infinite spelunker potion effect at all times >adds an easily obtainable pre-eoc item that gives you random fishing equipment and potions, also adds fishing poles that cast 30 lines at once, only because the lead dev has a hateboner for fishing and wants to trivialize it as much as possible >adds an overpowered as frick lategame sword that can be obtained pre-hardmode as long as you have a le meme reference in your name >makes defense almost completely useless because the lead dev has a hardon for turning the game into a bullet hell where only dodging matters >nerfs damage reduction for the same reasons >gives bosses cringy "nothin personnel, kid" tier dialogue >self inserts the lead dev as both a trans oversexualized female npc that spews memes and references, and a pony fursona mount with the best stats for its tier >adds a million worm bosses >nerfs random things from the base game for no reason whatsoever, like the soaring insignia or magiluminescence >the lead dev and his askissers sperg out at anyone giving out any criticism >same lead dev also spergs out at smaller modders that are trying to remove the asinine additions and nerfs from his mod, intentionally making such mods not work in the next update >half of the mod doesn't work in multiplayer
calameme is a joke
>adds an easily obtainable pre-eoc item that gives you random fishing equipment and potions, also adds fishing poles that cast 30 lines at once, only because the lead dev has a hateboner for fishing and wants to trivialize it as much as possible
Actually, if I'm correct, he did this because he was REALLY pissed off at another fishing mod, Unusacies Battle Rods, and it was because the mod added a fishing class for combat. Their gimmick was that fishing rod weapons could completely trivialize worm bosses.
Now guess what 90% of calamity bosses are considered?
>infinite spelunker potion effect at all times
Based, potion stockpiling and ingredient farming are a waste of time. >make fishing faster and less necessary because the lead dev has a hateboner for fishing
BASED BASED BASED >muh useless defenses
Calamity literally boosts vanilla defense by nearly x3 by Moonlord.
defense almost completely useless because the lead dev has a hardon for turning the game into a bullet hell where only dodging matters
damage reduction for the same reasons
Anon... Tank builds are moronicly powerful in keklamity
Yeah, the game is pretty much un-loseable if you go full tank and regen; even on death mode. I feel like the people complaining about this have never actually played it.
It adds content of some quality to the game, thorium did it too but it tried to remain close to the terraria format, calameme went balls to the wall for better or worse
people can winge on how bad it is but its really mostly people following the herd of hating on the big thing, it has a lot of pros to go with the con
now if only the dev stopped being such an egotistical homosexual and make it easier to play with other mods it would be grand >muh balance
winging is just an excuse, let people enjoy the game how they want it
the hate for calamity seems pretty artificial, and it seems like Ganker just hates it because it's popular.
it's like going up to a minecraft factory modpack and complaining that it isn't like vanilla minecraft. no shit, it's supposed to change things up. there's no rule that says everything has to be like the base game.
it isn't that sacred.

It's one thing that a moron hates the mod due to a personality trait and another to hate because it's actually flawed.
>another to hate because it's actually flawed.
hate is a woman's emotion. there's a fine line between disliking something's flaws and hating something.
Thrower should've been a hybrid melee/ranged class whose weapons could benefit from both of their possible buffs while the armor set offers minor buffs to both types of weapons (increased for thrower specific weapons). Of course, that's only if they want to stick with the gay concept of classes in the first place
what other mods are notable besides calamity and thorium
stars above is pretty neat if you have a high tolerance for the animes, heard balance was hella wack even within the confines of the mod
fargo's adds a lot of cool shit but also borderline cheats
heard starlight river might become the next big thing too
fargo is just ultimate qol to the point its almost cheating yes but it also compensates by both making grinding easier and having said cheats require absurd amounts of grinding themselves that those grinding aids are must-haves if you want to go for the ridiculous post-moonlord accesories
I wish there was an accurate Megumin mod that lates you cast Explosion just once per day and leaves you defelensless on the ground until an in-game day passes, with a Kazuma mount that you can use to keep on moving afterwards while still being unable to cast more Explosions
>get tricked into trying a Calamity server with some acquaintances >just trying to learn what the frick is going on >majority of the people playing have already played before and are just saying "ready? ok go" and just fighting bosses back to back >this goes on for about three sessions before I just say 'frick it, i'll try this solo on my own time' >remember that's it's fricking Calamity and don't bother
Daily reminder there was a moronic drama between a autistic mariohomosexual named ShyGuyMask and the Calameme community. It's all about whatever Whips should have been melee or not. To the point where Whips is forbidden because of these Black folk.
Because there was shit like Flails, either the launched or chained variety. So the argument goes that Whips are a poor summoner style weapon, even on the idea that they were made in conjunction with the Tiger summon. I.E, Lion/Tiger tamer cracking the whip to get them to do certain things. They wanted more interesting summon weapons that actually did things or there was some goal to work towards. This is certainly a much better idea than whips as a base, but most of them can't seem to think of anything that actually has anything to do with "summoning" and just made another flavor of magic or ranged. >Create a fricking Plasma cannon that you can use yourself instead of as a turret
So really they sound pretty moronic. They also tried to argue that whips were both under powered and over powered. >Obsidian armor shouldn't allow you to kill boss almost as fast as Titanium armor as melee
When said instance was abusing being able to create shards from dummies and max speed attack against Plantera and Obsidian armor almost died to one attack and still had to use end game whips and summons.
I don't really understand personally, they could make minions that are worse under whips and deal less damage when you use whips on an enemy so there can be summons designed around using them, and those that aren't (if they really do have unique ideas for minion mechanics without whips). Because what they seem to have a problem with is that that the design space has changed significantly.
As for whips themselves, I think what the whip does could be different dependent on the creatures that you're summoning.
Having whips act more of a trigger for a summon's ability or having them interact with them differently would make you feel like you're working with a creature / multiple creatures more and potentially change the gameplay significantly.
>a summon that charges up an attack over time when attacking an enemy and when you whip, the attack gets released in the direction of the enemy (to make max DPS related to timing), with the strength of the attack depending on how much damage the minion has dealt to the enemy (up to a limit, naturally). >A summon that acts more frenetically when you whip an enemy for a short period of time, but if you whip too much it gets tired and requires you to hold off for a bit, requiring you to keep in mind the state of the minions. >One of those tiered minions that does drive by attacks in patterns, and if you hit the enemy with the whip at the same time as the minion, you deal significant extra damage.
Was removing Throwing damage from the game entirely the right choice? >the Journey's End update was 3 years ago
I'm still asking.
without a doubt
relogic, in their infinite wisdom, severely struggle to make classes do anything other than "hold m1 to spam projectile", keeping throwing damage (aka diet ranger) would only serve to exacerbate that problem
Thrower should've been a hybrid melee/ranged class whose weapons could benefit from both of their possible buffs while the armor set offers minor buffs to both types of weapons (increased for thrower specific weapons). Of course, that's only if they want to stick with the gay concept of classes in the first place
>Thrower should've been a hybrid melee/ranged class
so hardmode melee then
If they ever make a terraria 2 and keep the class system, then every class needs a serious overhaul, endgame ranger is pretty boring since you are literally just holding m1 you dont even need to aim with the chloro bullets, ranger should at least be able to switch quickly between ammo types or something, really anything other than just holding m1
can we at least agree infernum is even worse than calameme
im playing terraria, not touhou
if you want dificulty try fargo's eternity
the eternity wall of flesh is a way better designed terraria boss fight then those who try to turn it into a bullet hell
>anons complaining that calamity makes the vanilla part easier >anons complaining that the extra difficulty mod makes it too hard
you gays don't know what you want
people just want to hate anon
its not that complicated
i can assure you 70% of people who hate calamity never actually tried it and just watched someone else play it
Fargos idea of difficulty is fricking trash. yes its "hard" but its also hard because it covers the screen with 7 different colors of projectiles that make it difficult to tell what shots are yours and what are the bosses. At least in calamity it's easier to tell what attacks you need to avoid. Providence may be like a bullet hell but It's not hard to tell what I'm supposed to be doing in that fight.
After all, terraria is kinda shallow, and taking the same gameplay loop of mining new ore-crafting new weapons and armor-killing new boss-repeat x100, but with added "challenge" strictly for bosses (bullet hell mechanics for example) is not a good base for a mod. And somehow it's is even easier than the original game. I breezed through the game up to Providence, killed her and never touched the mod again.
I can't play this game without getting a permanent spelunker effect.
The mere thought of missing loot because i mined slightly away from it infuriates me.
Don't bother with an arena for him, just build a really large platform to use hook and dodge his warps and projectiles (in calamity mod, if it's vanilla or "vanilla-moded" then it doesn't need to be that large) LuiaAFK my belevoled building QoL stuff mod.
that homosexual skeletron is the game's filter on expert and i can guarantee he gets you with the head spin while you try to use the worm scarf to get out of there and just end up staggered until you die in three hits. you really need some buffs or a large arena rather than a tall one
Never played thorium but Calamity has some kind of cool summons that may be worth seeing. it doesn't officially have more whips but with how whips like kaleidoscope scale you dont necessarily need more.
The Thorium and Calamity content will clash design wise, you can look at an ore from Calamity and an ore from Thorium and instantly know which one is from which mod. The ocean biomes of both spawn on opposite ends of the world so you won't risk either the abyss or aquatic depths overriding each other. However, since Calamity does buff many of the vanilla items, using the Thorium items may feel a bit underwhelming in comparison, though I'm not sure if that's the case anymore. Also by using both mods you will have to build a shit ton of houses for your NPCs.
Different mods, different artists.
/tg/ had some anons make a series of these, then there is a big NPC mod that has a single style.
It's getting the whole game so the enemies are all titty monsters where it clashes. There's a few big mods where a heap of monsters are in the same style but they don't cover all the monsters and are still incomplete.
Just play vanilla master mode, difficulty is good enough it will force you engage with crafting consumables and rolling your gear which are not required in other difficulties.
Just play vanilla master mode, difficulty is good enough it will force you engage with crafting consumables and rolling your gear which are not required in other difficulties.
play vanilla. if you feel too overwhelmed just try downgrading. 1.2 and 1.3 are still enough for a random playthrough if you don't intend to use that world forever. don't use mods before playing vanilla
Yes give it a try again there's been a massive amount of content added since 1.0, Terraria's modding community kind of sucks though so don't start off with any mods. I would recommend playing on softcore expert mode on a large world. Softcore because the other two options are annoying, expert because you get extra stuff from boss kills, and large world for more loot. On your first day build a house with two rooms and explore your overworld, when night falls go into one of the caves you found and explore until you die/your inventory is full
calameme is actually fricking terrible we played it together on /vm/ like 2 months ago and it was the most broken jank dogshit where you become overpowered in like 5 minutes.
it seems like only the terraria fanbase has this problem for some godforsaken reason.
this is why minecraft will always have the best modding community.
No, it's because the base game is fine on its own, and most of the bigger mods are overtuned garbage, and this becomes more obvious when, for example, Calamity added an "anti-cheat" because people were figuring out how to kill the bosses faster than expected.
>No, it's because the base game is fine on its own,
believe it or not, minecraft is fine on its own as well. most minecraft modpacks are of the factorio automation type, which isn't even the same genre as base minecraft.
everybody who plays minecraft mods understands that mods will change how the game is played. i'm not sure why terraria autists just decided that mods should always be faithful to vanilla when that has never been a requirement for any modding community. >Calamity added an "anti-cheat" because people were figuring out how to kill the bosses faster than expected.

Big reason why it's infamous in the first place is because of mods.
Let's be real here, Minecraft is a unfinished placeholder with incompetent devs since Notch left the project for $$$ to shitpost eternally on the Internet. Adds pointless features that nobody asked for while removing/cancelling ones who already gained positive reactions (taming ocelots and turns into cats, many mobs at MobVote who didn't get in, fireflies, etc). There were some updates that should have been the end of 1.8 like the Nether and Cave Update, especially that time when they got bought by Microsoft, so there's no excuse to go minimalistic until 1.16 then splitiing Caves and Cliffs into 2 fricking versions, 1.12.2 should had Villagers, animals, more mobs and whatnot rather than each version. >village and pillage update >colors update >caves and cliffs part 1 >cac part 2
That's why modding is part of the Minecraft's DNA to the point it's even part of the canon, even Bedrock has modding capabilities that Micro$hit profits it.

i disagree. a large part of the playerbase does not know how to install mods and the most popular form of "modding" is just server-side plugins.
you can end up still doing a ton just with serverside stuff, so it's not necessarily the conventional mods that keeps minecraft popular.
and on the other hand, you have completely vanilla servers (with stability and modding plugins) like 2b2t and that are still insanely popular despite not having any content mods. i'm pretty sure fandom servers from vtubers and youtubers are a big thing because of the community building aspect as well.
the point being, clientside minecraft modding isn't as much of a force as you think it is. it's only massive because minecraft is massive.
>he doesn't know
people shitting on calamity (with legitimate reasons) for years on end is nothing compared to the petty bullshit that goes on the minecraft modding community, especially the discourse around modpacks
naw, minecraft discussion here isn't that bad. it's mostly because minecraft has a frickton of modpacks to play, so autists don't have to get buttmad by hyperfocusing on the most popular one.
>get tricked by the /vg/ general into thinking Calamity was bad >decide to test it after playing Thorium and liking it >it's a million times more fun
If you don't play a mod because it's "cringe" you have to grow up or improve upon your self esteem. Personally I don't even read whatever stupid shit the bosses say because who the frick cares, the gameplay is good and the progression is entertaining.
>fandom wiki for calamity is so thoroughly vandalized there are entire wiki articles and spritework for bosses and npcs that don’t exist
pic related
goozmarie is cute though
>final boss is a player sprite
normally player-sized bosses are great, but this one doesn't feel the same to me. am i just retrad? maybe it's because it's basically a bullet hell game where you have to his this tiny target dancing around the screen. her brothers get cool humanoid sprites too, so what gives?
moon lord is the end of the game in vanilla. you get some toys from him to mess around with, like the portal gun, but aside from making the luminite armors, you've reached the end of progression
Elaborate.
One word:
Calamity
Nobody cares about those shit bloated mods
that does not appear to be true

ever tought youre the outlier?
Kind of sort of agree, calamity is pretty decent but its definitely over bloated. This is why I prefer thorium. Calamity has some great ideas but tries wayyyy too hard. Tried calamity once, just seemed like a really autistic version of Thorium. I've never heard anyone say anything nice about calamity.
>dickymity
Calamity is the name of a mod for the video game terraria.

>autistic self-insert mod that has MLP references everywhere, unironic tryhard music that doesn't fit Terraria, and has a dev that angrily nerfs all other mods so they don't overshadow his special snowflake mod
is this true? Especially the MLP and nerfing other shit
https://calamitymod.fandom.com/wiki/Discordian_Sigil#Trivia
People complained about how ugly it was before, since it was blatantly a ripoff of Cadence. That's why it now has an ugly piss filter.
>famdom that is full of shitpost edits
Pretty sure that's like one of two MLP references in the whole mod, the other being the Cadence potion or whatever it was called.
I'm going through this wiki and wondering if this guy is self-aware.
That is the most over-designed thing I've ever seen. Also:
>The item is most likely a reference to the popular Calamity mod for Terraria, with its name and black-and-red aesthetic, as well as mentioning "the Witch" in the tooltip, likely referring to the final boss of the mod, Supreme Calamitas.
>The item is most likely a reference to the popular Calamity mod for Terraria
I'm SHOCKED.
>the verboten one
MY EYES
THEY BURN
>this item is based on a terraria mod
>saying that on a terraria mod wiki
>>The item is most likely a reference to the popular Calamity mod for Terraria
this sentence is most likely a reference to that one autistic terraria wiki contributor who died
anon in charge of reading the first thing on the page
both items you posted are from community remix by the way, which is why the second has that trivia even though it is the most moronic thing to mention on the calamity fan wiki
>calamity defense force
lmao
i'm cool with all sorts of shitflinging thrown at gaysol but next time you wanna find dumb shit he crammed into calamity check https://calamitymod.wiki.gg/wiki/Calamity_Mod_Wiki and not https://calamitymod.fandom.com/wiki/Calamity_Mod_Wiki
the second one just contains all the bullshit 14 year old calamity fanboys decided to cram on top of it
here, I'm going back in, thanks Anon.
To be fair, most of those tinier fan-wikis very often just copy/paste the main wiki when needed and don't really proofread.
>using the fandom wiki
thats been abandoned and people keep making troll edits, official wiki is here

Thanks for reminding me to install MLP gals in my modded Skyrim.
>Name an item after a chimera noodle goat

Is pic related still true?
>Cadence
didn't know gaysol had shit taste too.
should've been sun horse.
Funny thing is that
isn't even the same item, it's another MLP OC mount.
The third being a weapon named named after himself but it's up to you whether turning yourself into a weapon is a self-insert or not.
>it's up to you whether turning yourself into a weapon is a self-insert or not.
He turned himself into a weapon. funniest shit I've ever seen.
God fab is such a fricking narcissist

This is a MLP reference? Its not really a problem if you are not familiar with MLP to begin with.
It's pinkie pie. And her shimmer form is rainbow dash.
Well at least I can pwetend that's a Wawity.
>game already references MLP
lol
I don’t think it affected the community at all.
Every israelitetube vids about Terraria challenges or whatever is using DM Dokuno's Calamity OSTs.
you think most mods are about that?
Having played Calamity both alone and with a group of friends, I like the abyss, the basegame should've had some equivalent of it.
However, it's far too bloated, too many worm bosses and almost every upgrade in armor and ore just gets shat on by the next boss and/or enemies on the list.
The mod also exacerbates the original burnout problem with Terraria in its endgame, that it turns into a boss rush.
I'll admit some of the endgame weapons look and act pretty cool.
Oh yeah the bossfight with the gay jungle dragon and the lyrics was fricking cringekino.
The OST is banging though, this track is especially godly
...and the community scared off the musician, losing the best thing about Calamameme.
What did they do?
Harassed the shit out of Dokuro. Irrc gaysol was also annoying him. I always forget the full details but that's why he left. CDmusic replaced him, and while CDmusic is very good, he isn't going to top Roar of the Jungle Dragon. I don't particularly care for calamity but Terraria mod music hits different. Some of the fan Draedon themes are really good.
Is that why most of his calamity videos' comment section is turned off? Because little jimmy and co wouldn't stop bothering him on creating calamitas ost? Lmao
t. gaysol
He deserved it 100%. The moment I heard his homosexualy voice in one of the songs I instantly lost all respect for him.
The Old Duke's theme is still the best though.
sounds nothing like the vanilla game's music. where are the alien sounding crunchy sine oscillators and changing tempos? practically every original terraria track contained one of the two or both. this is generic shit youd find on a royalty free site. it's like they didnt even try to be faithful to the theme of the game
terraria's ost is pretty underrated honestly
i think it's overrated, it's a rather tepid electronic soundtrack with only a few standouts, it's only regarded so highly because terraria's a popular indie game
i can think of many more indie games that have better soundtracks
It's a mix bag.
There are some Terraria soundtrack that are even better than other indie games.
For example: Boss 1/2, Overworld Night, Plantera, Lunar Events, Moon Lord, Empress of Light, even it's Deerclops Remix is better than DS.
There are some that are not.
i'd disagree, honestly none of those songs except Plantera are noteworthy
personally my favorites in the soundtrack are Frost Moon and the Underground Desert
the Otherworld OST included is also better on average than the base soundtrack, though it's still rather generic
you gotta listen to more indie vidya soundtracks though
For me it's the otherworldly corruption track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_JZiGst59w
Underground is the best track simply because of how simple it is and how effective it is.
for me, it's roar of the jungle dragon. it's pure cringekino and a perfect mix between anime songs and MGR
not even dokuro would be able to top roar of the jungle dragon. it was a one time thing and he nailed it, but nothing will come close and it basically has its own fanbase outside calamity
calamity is a MGR-esque mod. the boss tracks even play the same way
Calamity is dogshit though. Thorium is significantly better.
If Calamity begun after Moon Lord, then it would have been a great mod to blast through. I mean Slime God should have been Post-ML.
Slime god is pretty unfun to fight if you arent server host too. the stupid shits teleport happens without the animation i've noticed if I'm not host.
in response to that im going to call you a Black person, Black person.
If I wanted that experience I'd just go play Minecraft since it does it better.
for me pre-hardmode is the part I dread dealing with the most. Getting set up for wall of flesh for the 20th time no longer appeals to me.
SBPB
One word:
Infernum
They took the worst part of Terraria (being a wikia game) and made it a wikia universe.
I like the biome fountains since it means I don’t have to set up an artificial biome, and the hellevators and instabridges are also nice.
what the frick happened to the mod
i last checked out the wiki when they added the endgame mech bosses but now there is basically double the amount of bosses since then with some of them being nothing more than dogshit paint .pngs
https://calamitymod.wiki.gg/wiki/Bosses
The only bosses they added since the exo-mechs were joke bosses for the getfixedboi seed.
i dont give a shit about the creator as long as its fun
helps that i play with several mods and calameme is just one of them
True I like thorium too
test
calamity isnt working on the current version of tmod btw
>Check Calamity patchnotes
>Anything fun has been nerfed or removed
Many such cases!
>also nerfs vanilla items, including the Zenith, because nothing is allowed to surpass his gay power leveled garbage
Basically my experience trying to use Stars Above and calamity at the same time, especially when the recipes get changed to need gay calamity endgame bars
you can turn that off in the mod option methinks
why pick on the mod for this when regular terraria is just as much of a gay about this kind of thing?
you will do progression in the intended linear order
you will fight every boss in an arena or the sky by circle strafing and holding down the mouse button till one of you dies
you will not build 1 large base with everyone in it
>people play with mods to address the problems with vanilla
>Calamity echoes the problems with vanilla, making it a greenhouse of bad ideas
>making it a greenhouse of bad ideas
List them.
What is stopping you from building like you used to?
>modifies the code and adds them back
>that default dash thing in calamity
i know it's super minor but it fricks with me
for me, it's Fargo's Souls
I like Fargo's souls with a mod that adds accessory slots so I can equip the million trinkets before getting crucible.
Also needs some difficulty mod on top since equipping so many accessories is pretty op though.
If you use Mods you didn't beat the game. Pathetic Ganker has sunken this low.
cry about it
If you never used overhaul mods with hugely increased difficulties they offer, you didn't beat the game. What you beat is only 10% of the game. What you beat is the babies first vanilla steps.
i beat the game around 8 times and 2 times with mods. now cry about how using copper dagger isn't beating the game
>copper
>not tin
not my terraria
>adds a pre-boss mount that lets you drill at the speed of sound, making pickaxes pointless
>adds an item that gives an infinite spelunker potion effect at all times
>adds an easily obtainable pre-eoc item that gives you random fishing equipment and potions, also adds fishing poles that cast 30 lines at once, only because the lead dev has a hateboner for fishing and wants to trivialize it as much as possible
>adds an overpowered as frick lategame sword that can be obtained pre-hardmode as long as you have a le meme reference in your name
>makes defense almost completely useless because the lead dev has a hardon for turning the game into a bullet hell where only dodging matters
>nerfs damage reduction for the same reasons
>gives bosses cringy "nothin personnel, kid" tier dialogue
>self inserts the lead dev as both a trans oversexualized female npc that spews memes and references, and a pony fursona mount with the best stats for its tier
>adds a million worm bosses
>nerfs random things from the base game for no reason whatsoever, like the soaring insignia or magiluminescence
>the lead dev and his askissers sperg out at anyone giving out any criticism
>same lead dev also spergs out at smaller modders that are trying to remove the asinine additions and nerfs from his mod, intentionally making such mods not work in the next update
>half of the mod doesn't work in multiplayer
calameme is a joke
>adds an easily obtainable pre-eoc item that gives you random fishing equipment and potions, also adds fishing poles that cast 30 lines at once, only because the lead dev has a hateboner for fishing and wants to trivialize it as much as possible
BASED BASED BASED
>muh useless defenses
Calamity literally boosts vanilla defense by nearly x3 by Moonlord.
Suck my uncircumcised wiener Fabsol.
Do it yourself, gayboy
Eat ass Black person.
Do it yourself, gayboy.
>repeating the same insult
Lmao, even.
Ask for something that's not gay sex and you might get a different answer.
I fricked many woman since 16, even tamed some, to have a harem session. Since the revelation that I have the best sex skills ever.
defense almost completely useless because the lead dev has a hardon for turning the game into a bullet hell where only dodging matters
damage reduction for the same reasons
Anon... Tank builds are moronicly powerful in keklamity
Yeah, the game is pretty much un-loseable if you go full tank and regen; even on death mode. I feel like the people complaining about this have never actually played it.
>leave fixing terraria to me
how do we stop this man? is he going to fix the clusterfrick that is the UI and inventory as well?
Why the frick is Calamity is so famous in the first place?
Is the ever first mod that adds bloated content?
it had a good ost(albeit unfitting) that went viral and then it snowballed from there.
It adds content of some quality to the game, thorium did it too but it tried to remain close to the terraria format, calameme went balls to the wall for better or worse
people can winge on how bad it is but its really mostly people following the herd of hating on the big thing, it has a lot of pros to go with the con
now if only the dev stopped being such an egotistical homosexual and make it easier to play with other mods it would be grand
>muh balance
winging is just an excuse, let people enjoy the game how they want it
the hate for calamity seems pretty artificial, and it seems like Ganker just hates it because it's popular.
it's like going up to a minecraft factory modpack and complaining that it isn't like vanilla minecraft. no shit, it's supposed to change things up. there's no rule that says everything has to be like the base game.
it isn't that sacred.
Because idiots mistake quantity for quality. So they see lots of bosses and think mod must be good.
terraria is a boss rush and calamity adds more bosses to the boss rush.
>terraria is a boss rush
It's one thing that a moron hates the mod due to a personality trait and another to hate because it's actually flawed.
>another to hate because it's actually flawed.
hate is a woman's emotion. there's a fine line between disliking something's flaws and hating something.
dm dokuro carried hard with a 12 minute rock opera
Literally because of MGR becoming a meme and Calamity being a MGR mod
Calamity was popular way before MGR became a mainstream meme
i'm going to make a modded slopparia world, which mods should i add? no calameme since it intentionally fricks with a lot of other mods
it seems kind of like the orespawn of terraria
Was removing Throwing damage from the game entirely the right choice?
>the Journey's End update was 3 years ago
I'm still asking.
it was either that or make support for a new class
>random class that existed for one (1) update cycle and had 2 armor sets
Yes
>classes
Thrower should've been a hybrid melee/ranged class whose weapons could benefit from both of their possible buffs while the armor set offers minor buffs to both types of weapons (increased for thrower specific weapons). Of course, that's only if they want to stick with the gay concept of classes in the first place
They should at least expand the throwing subclass like how there's many bows, and even subclasses of guns.
what other mods are notable besides calamity and thorium
stars above is pretty neat if you have a high tolerance for the animes, heard balance was hella wack even within the confines of the mod
fargo's adds a lot of cool shit but also borderline cheats
heard starlight river might become the next big thing too
I like Story of the Red Cloud but that’s an adventure mod so if you don’t like meteoidvanias it might not be good for you.
fargo is just ultimate qol to the point its almost cheating yes but it also compensates by both making grinding easier and having said cheats require absurd amounts of grinding themselves that those grinding aids are must-haves if you want to go for the ridiculous post-moonlord accesories
spirit mod
qwertys bosses
assorted crazy things
I wish there was an accurate Megumin mod that lates you cast Explosion just once per day and leaves you defelensless on the ground until an in-game day passes, with a Kazuma mount that you can use to keep on moving afterwards while still being unable to cast more Explosions
Terraria is boring and full of bloat.
t. Played at launch.
I really forgot how fricking tedious and boring Terraria early game is.
I bought this game years ago, but couldn't really get into it. Are there any essential QoL mods I should know about?
To be a quality of life the first thing it needs is to bother you, so yea you have to do a non modded playthrough and check what bothers you or not
Or rather ask yourself what bothers you when you play a videogame chances are it might bother you the same in Terraria. Keyword being might.
>Grinding bothers me
Look for mods that reduce grinding
Either way trying out an unmodded playthrough is the best way to figure what QoL mods you need
>get tricked into trying a Calamity server with some acquaintances
>just trying to learn what the frick is going on
>majority of the people playing have already played before and are just saying "ready? ok go" and just fighting bosses back to back
>this goes on for about three sessions before I just say 'frick it, i'll try this solo on my own time'
>remember that's it's fricking Calamity and don't bother
soloing calamity is piss easy tho
Thorium mod
Daily reminder there was a moronic drama between a autistic mariohomosexual named ShyGuyMask and the Calameme community. It's all about whatever Whips should have been melee or not. To the point where Whips is forbidden because of these Black folk.
Why wouldn't a whip be considered melee?
Why wouldn't summon weapons be considered magic?
I think there is a lot of potential for whips.
>ShyGuyMask
>troony enabler
>Youmugay
ewwwww
summonchads ww@
They keep nerfing the class unfortunately. However, they haven't ruined the blade staff yet.
is split on 1.4 yet
reporting in, best class in the game by far
without a doubt
relogic, in their infinite wisdom, severely struggle to make classes do anything other than "hold m1 to spam projectile", keeping throwing damage (aka diet ranger) would only serve to exacerbate that problem
>Thrower should've been a hybrid melee/ranged class
so hardmode melee then
If they ever make a terraria 2 and keep the class system, then every class needs a serious overhaul, endgame ranger is pretty boring since you are literally just holding m1 you dont even need to aim with the chloro bullets, ranger should at least be able to switch quickly between ammo types or something, really anything other than just holding m1
>why is this class so boring when I knowingly use the auto aim bullets instead of the ones that do higher damage but require me to aim
If you can cut out aiming from bosses, that lets you focus more on dodging.
can we at least agree infernum is even worse than calameme
im playing terraria, not touhou
if you want dificulty try fargo's eternity
the eternity wall of flesh is a way better designed terraria boss fight then those who try to turn it into a bullet hell
>anons complaining that calamity makes the vanilla part easier
>anons complaining that the extra difficulty mod makes it too hard
you gays don't know what you want
people just want to hate anon
its not that complicated
i can assure you 70% of people who hate calamity never actually tried it and just watched someone else play it
its almost like those are two different people
a good reason to never listen to what Ganker says
Who's gonna set the fricking server? I want to play with some Black folk
Calameme is many a shit, but the OST is probably the worst thing about it.
I can't play this game without getting a permanent spelunker effect.
The mere thought of missing loot because i mined slightly away from it infuriates me.
>mod that makes everything in the base game irrelevant and feel easy
People actually play that shit?
It's been a decade since Terraria's release, if you've seen everything you don't mind trying something new even if it's extreme.
>he's not playing on infernum
If your mod needs its own wiki then it's fricking shit.
I want to stick my dick between brimstone elemental's fat breasts and play hide the stick with her butt, that is all.
I’m trying expert mode and already strugglin with skeleton on vanilla. Granted I didn’t make an arena
Skeleton is literally the hardest boss in the entire game if tou are playing on expert
Going to start my second modded playthrough. Is Calamity + Thorium a good idea? Thorium only? I'm thinking i'll play as summoner.
Never played thorium but Calamity has some kind of cool summons that may be worth seeing. it doesn't officially have more whips but with how whips like kaleidoscope scale you dont necessarily need more.
Go thorium only. If you want endgame crazy shit, then add in Fargo's mod alongside Thorium
Recs for adventure maps? I'm playing story of red cloud right now and it's solid.
yeah magic storage is a must have everyone agrees
...this one?
>no equivalent mod for males or a mod that makes them female
Makes the game look like shit
Is there any crime worse than a mod that only changes half the assets?
>clashing artstyles
This the same mod or multiple ones?
Different mods, different artists.
/tg/ had some anons make a series of these, then there is a big NPC mod that has a single style.
It's getting the whole game so the enemies are all titty monsters where it clashes. There's a few big mods where a heap of monsters are in the same style but they don't cover all the monsters and are still incomplete.
AWOOOGAA
The witch doctor is the only male npc that got a similar mod
I haven't played since 1.0, should I give it a try again? which mods should I get?
I wouldn't even bother with mods. Most of them are unbalanced turbotism. The game has gotten insanely huge all on its own.
For a twist maybe try the don't dig up special seed.
Just play vanilla master mode, difficulty is good enough it will force you engage with crafting consumables and rolling your gear which are not required in other difficulties.
play vanilla, then terraria overhaul
disregard
, mastermode is dogshit
play vanilla. if you feel too overwhelmed just try downgrading.
You ignore all these gays telling you to play vanilla because it's a horrible experience.
Wrong
calameme is actually fricking terrible we played it together on /vm/ like 2 months ago and it was the most broken jank dogshit where you become overpowered in like 5 minutes.
what items
calameme starts off real slow tho, the hell you on about?
>beat golem
>all will to continue playing leaves my body
same but i lose the will to play looking for plantera's bulb
similiar except I force myself through plantera hoping it gets better afterwards
speaking of starbound, did anything come from the source code leak yet?
Heard that one mod used the source leak for small QoL tweaks/additions but thats about it
>hating a mod (do I need to say you don't have to use it?) enough to make threads for years about it
Pretty embarrassing if you ask me.
it seems like only the terraria fanbase has this problem for some godforsaken reason.
this is why minecraft will always have the best modding community.
Minecraft doesn't have much of as an issue because it's a completely nontroversial opinion that Vanilla minecraft is ass.
So it's just your typical base game worship. No other forms of modification are allowed if they ruin the dev's sacred vision.
>Calamity added an "anti-cheat" because people were figuring out how to kill the bosses faster than expected.
like?
i'm aware of the worm bosses having insta-gib resistance. kill mitigation is effectively just an hp buff..
>minecraft is fine on its own as well.
No
yes. it's comfy, and good for people who want to build nice communities with their friends.
if you want a different gaming experience, you play a modpack. simple as.
and no, i don't want to hear you throw a tantrum about how the sevtech ages devs are making the modpack harder.
There were some updates that should have been the end of 1.8 like the Nether and Cave Update, especially that time when they got bought by Microsoft, so there's no excuse to go minimalistic until 1.16 then splitiing Caves and Cliffs into 2 fricking versions, 1.12.2 should had Villagers, animals, more mobs and whatnot rather than each version.
>village and pillage update
>colors update
>caves and cliffs part 1
>cac part 2
You're probably the Black person that searches for terraria threads all day just to post play calamity in the first 5 posts
Why do you hate Calamity?
Anyone play on the Legendary difficulty seed and actually beat it? I got bored of the monotony of everything 1 shotting you after beating Skeletron
The Abyss is easily the coolest part of Calamity. Are there any other mods (or games) that capture a similar feeling?
>get tricked by the /vg/ general into thinking Calamity was bad
>decide to test it after playing Thorium and liking it
>it's a million times more fun
If you don't play a mod because it's "cringe" you have to grow up or improve upon your self esteem. Personally I don't even read whatever stupid shit the bosses say because who the frick cares, the gameplay is good and the progression is entertaining.
>still no thorium update for the current game
I refuse to touch calamity for its soulstism, i wish thorium would get updated
Vanillachads > modgays, simple as.
>b-but what about more content!!
Like what, Calameme, Soirium, or Mod of Redeem? Kek.
>boss is invincible for half the fight
but why?
>fandom wiki for calamity is so thoroughly vandalized there are entire wiki articles and spritework for bosses and npcs that don’t exist
pic related
goozmarie is cute though
i think a few of those, like pic related, are scrapped boss ideas. a shame too, the wall of flesh is a fun fight, a souped up version would be cool
>anthro pony superboss
fabsol just can’t help himself
>final boss is a player sprite
normally player-sized bosses are great, but this one doesn't feel the same to me. am i just retrad? maybe it's because it's basically a bullet hell game where you have to his this tiny target dancing around the screen. her brothers get cool humanoid sprites too, so what gives?
terraria chars are too small compared to the screen size. doesn't help that her bullets are all larger than her too.
It's not even a good color either
What’s your favorite accessory equip? I love the guardian shield one
>Calameme
>ai-slop
is tmodloader updated yet
Been updated for a month now
just beat moon lord with some friends in vanilla, i mean game is fun but what is next, we've not touched any mods
moon lord is the end of the game in vanilla. you get some toys from him to mess around with, like the portal gun, but aside from making the luminite armors, you've reached the end of progression
i enjoy the gameplay of having 6 (strong) sentries so somehow the luminite armors dont even appeal to me
Are there porn mods with nice looking pixel art?
