Zoan fruits come in different models. Kaido has a fish fruit model azure dragon. Kaku and Dalton have different models of the cow fruit. Jabra, Yamato, Chaka and Katarina Devon all have different models of the dog fruit. Luffy, Chopper and Sengoku all have human fruits.

Honestly I prefer One Piece games that have original stories and locations than ones that just summarize the story again. I love One Piece and have reread it dozens of times, but I’d like to see the crew go somewhere new instead of retreading the same dozen locations or so.
That’s true, but One Piece is still an adventure story at its core, and it’s always at its most fun when you’re exploring and discovering stuff as the Straw Hats do, even if the underlying story is lackluster.

Yes, but my point is that the crew still goes to new places, even if their destinations aren’t totally random anymore. Dressrosa, Zou, Tottoland, and even Wano are new and distinct, and are visually striking regardless of the context for how the crew gets there. One Piece wouldn’t be nearly as fun if they were backtracking to the same islands all the time.

Because I remember him doing so in the manga and Oda having to come up with an excuse for it, so I wasn’t sure if they did the same in the game.
That reminded me that PW4 had a very, very specific restriction with Carrot.
If you tried to play in the Mirror World stage with her, then you aren't able to use the Sulong special attacks.
I guess the idea was that Mirror World was the only stage that was 100% “indoors”, so Carrot can’t use Sulong since there’s no “moon” for her to look at.
I mean just look at her, could you even call that thing a lady?
Yeah, I guess Oda thought the same thing at the moment, since he had to explain that Sanji was actually “blocking” Big Mom’s fist instead of counterattacking.

It ends up just making Sanji unviable in every game he appears in. What if a dungeon doesn't allow party swap and the end boss is a female for example.

Is One Piece still any good? I've always wanted to get into it, but I have a hard time diving into a series that's unfinished. Especially if everyone is saying the ending is gonna be shit.
It's been on a constant downhill since the timeskip and the recent arc is the worst of all. It has also absolutely tanked in sales after being the unquestioned juggernaut for years and years, so it's not just Ganker autists who have noticed it.

Wrong. Fishman Island is still the worst post-timeskip arc. Punk Hazard and Dressrosa weren't good, but were better than FI. Everything from Zou->Reverie has been great. Wano overstayed its welcome and I can't believe we're STILL not done with it.
It's good but the quality of it becomes very uneven after the timeskip. The current arc (that is just about to end thank god) is probably the worse there is.
It's the same tier of fruit as Sengoku has but Oda fricked up by not properly setting it up. The entire fricking arc is super bloated and rushed.

The problem with Nika is that it's a God Oda completely made up by himself and thus has no limits beyond what Oda decides. Luffy could be fighting Akainu ten years from now and get melted into a puddle only for Oda to go "oh yeah Nika can reform himself as long as he dies by magma, it never came up before but that's always a power he had" because there's no preset limit based on real life mythology.

I hate that Chopper only uses about three forms anymore. Doesn’t even really use run or heavy point anymore. Somehow he mastered his DF short of Monster Point but doesn’t do fricking anything creative with it
The anime isn’t all that bad if you’re just watching your favorite scenes/arcs. Watching the entire thing in one go is a bit of a drag, especially later on, since Toei becomes experts at padding down the most meaningless scenes.
Not worth it, just watch parts of your favorite arcs on Youtube. Pre-Wano sakuga is pretty rare as well so the few episodes that have really good direction throughout the whole thing are immediately noticeable (the episode where Luffy and Usopp argue and the one with Kuma on Sabaody are particular standouts among like 800 episodes).
I dont understand why Oda couldn't just be happy with regular rubber awakening. As it stands now gear 5 doesn't do anything combat wise rubber awakening couldn't but it also nips that possible hack moment before it can even happen.
That drum beat/rally thing couldn't have happened with a regular awakening. Although it's kind of weird that he got completely knocked the frick out by Kaido like 3 or 4 times and it only activated this last time. There's nothing majorly different about his last K.O. and the K.O. where he was knocked off of the island.

If I had to guess, King and Sasaki could only pull that off in hybrid form for whatever reason. At least in Queen's case you can chalk that up to the mad scientist stuff and we've seen characters play with their Devil Fruit capabilities before (Chopper) so it's not out of line for Queen to go snake mode from Brachiosaurus because he's on par with Judge, Caesar and Vegapunk in terms of crazy science shit. The other two, I'd just say because Oda willed it so.

Honestly I was worried about the Straw Hats being underleveled at this point in the story but most of their power-ups have been pretty cool. Definitely feel final arc-worthy.

Robin was nigh-untouchable before joining and now all that flash about not needing speed or power turned into fluff. The same is likely for Carrot and Yamato. Yamato could just be demoted to an oblivious fish out of water covering Nami's ass while Carrot becomes little more than Chopper's big sister figure that needs the full moon to live.

Whole Cake Island was a dire scenario because Luffy was short on allies and the odds were against him. Wano, the powerscaling got weird but I guess they wanted to make it a point that Luffy and the Scabbards had to drive them out because there was more at stake than just being in enemy territory. Way too deep in the game for Oda to bide some time, have Luffy hit a wall and have to come back another time.
I think he only made Beast Pirates seem weaker for the sake making Wano a passion project rather than posing how much a threat an Emperor's crew could be which he handled well in Whole Cake Island.
Turnbased Combat is only good when there's some special supplemental mechanics in place to spice things up like one more, atb or other. Dragon Quest is literally the most boring fricking turn based combat there is. There is literally no mechanic that makes it interesting. It's literally what you got when you fired up rpg maker 2000 and left everything combat related at default.

The new form doesn't bother me, it's the ginormous downgrade in the quality of the art. The framing and scale is all over the place and it looks like a fricking scribble.
There's not a single person alive who would tell you that Oda's still at the top of his game. He's overworked himself for over 25 years and he's trying to get out as much content as possible, there's more going on in 16 pages of a modern One Piece chapter than there are in 1 or 2 19 page chapters from 20 years ago. And people can b***h about Nika all they want but Oda still hasn't shat the bed as badly as Kubo and Kishimoto did. Hell, Horikoshi shat the bed in one third of the time.
At least we still have fun color spreads, and the amount of content in each chapter has been good for the anime.

The art isn't nearly as amazing and mindblowing as it was back in the day like Enies Lobby, but I can still clearly follow everything and it's all conveyed in a clear manner. Never understood the people who get confused reading it. Even children can follow the page flow.

I think 9 party members is more than enough for a DQ style RPG. I’m just bummed Jinbei and Yamato won’t be in it but I think this has been in development hell for a pretty long while so I’m not surprised that even Jinbei got skipped. Looks like a lot of fun though. I like the multiple zones thing they’re doing. That might lead to some interesting combat

There can be diffrent models of zoan fruit, like that one marine leader has human-human Buddha model fruit.
Zoan fruits come in different models. Kaido has a fish fruit model azure dragon. Kaku and Dalton have different models of the cow fruit. Jabra, Yamato, Chaka and Katarina Devon all have different models of the dog fruit. Luffy, Chopper and Sengoku all have human fruits.
Luffy doesn't know the real name of his fruit so he's not going to stop using Gomu Gomu nor will Oda start changing the name of the attacks either

Yeah, I guess Oda thought the same thing at the moment, since he had to explain that Sanji was actually “blocking” Big Mom’s fist instead of counterattacking.

Luffy could be fighting Akainu ten years from now and get melted into a puddle only for Oda to go "oh yeah Nika can reform himself as long as he dies by magma, it never came up before but that's always a power he had" because there's no preset limit based on real life mythology.

Not worth it, just watch parts of your favorite arcs on Youtube. Pre-Wano sakuga is pretty rare as well so the few episodes that have really good direction throughout the whole thing are immediately noticeable (the episode where Luffy and Usopp argue and the one with Kuma on Sabaody are particular standouts among like 800 episodes).
That drum beat/rally thing couldn't have happened with a regular awakening. Although it's kind of weird that he got completely knocked the frick out by Kaido like 3 or 4 times and it only activated this last time. There's nothing majorly different about his last K.O. and the K.O. where he was knocked off of the island.

If I had to guess, King and Sasaki could only pull that off in hybrid form for whatever reason. At least in Queen's case you can chalk that up to the mad scientist stuff and we've seen characters play with their Devil Fruit capabilities before (Chopper) so it's not out of line for Queen to go snake mode from Brachiosaurus because he's on par with Judge, Caesar and Vegapunk in terms of crazy science shit. The other two, I'd just say because Oda willed it so.

Whole Cake Island was a dire scenario because Luffy was short on allies and the odds were against him. Wano, the powerscaling got weird but I guess they wanted to make it a point that Luffy and the Scabbards had to drive them out because there was more at stake than just being in enemy territory. Way too deep in the game for Oda to bide some time, have Luffy hit a wall and have to come back another time.
I think he only made Beast Pirates seem weaker for the sake making Wano a passion project rather than posing how much a threat an Emperor's crew could be which he handled well in Whole Cake Island.

Turnbased Combat is only good when there's some special supplemental mechanics in place to spice things up like one more, atb or other. Dragon Quest is literally the most boring fricking turn based combat there is. There is literally no mechanic that makes it interesting. The new form doesn't bother me, it's the ginormous downgrade in the quality of the art. The framing and scale is all over the place and it looks like a fricking scribble.
There's not a single person alive who would tell you that Oda's still at the top of his game. He's overworked himself for over 25 years and he's trying to get out as much content as possible, there's more going on in 16 pages of a modern One Piece chapter than there are in 1 or 2 19 page chapters from 20 years ago. And people can b***h about Nika all they want but Oda still hasn't shat the bed as badly as Kubo and Kishimoto did. Hell, Horikoshi shat the bed in one third of the time.
At least we still have fun color spreads, and the amount of content in each chapter has been good for the anime.
