That has the symptoms of insurance fraud. They pump up the value of items, and suddenly "lose" the high value items that they claim to masked looters of color. They must be very polite to keep all the things neatly on the shelves and only go for those high value items hidden from that picture.

I don't think Metal Jesus ever covered Steambot Chronicles. Games that CAN be solely attributed to his gay little scam videos are Blood Will Tell and Samurai Western. I was trying to buy Samurai Western at the time and then suddenly the price triples literally overnight after his video.

Also Magic Pengel, rare and still only $30, Flipnic Pinball, Radiata Stories, Ring of Red (price rising fast on this one), Everblue, Shinobido (PAL) and Kessen

to be fair though it is dead simple and affordable to run games off of original hardware without paying for the actual games through CFW
and of course emulation is getting better all the time

at the end of the day though, collecting and retro gaming are two separate hobbies that just run parallel to each other. Metal Jesus for example is way more of a collector than an actual retro gamer, he very clearly barely plays through the games he acquires. But conversely people need to embrace the philosophy that you absolutely don't need to hold onto the old disks and carts to consider yourself still a fan of those games.

Because now everything has gone crazy. When Mario Kart Double Dash, of which there are millions, costs $80 you've effectively been priced out of the hobby. Ten or fifteen years ago you had big money games but it was the oddball like Panzer Dragoon Saga and even then they tended to cap at around $400-$500 at most. Now several Sega CD and Saturn games are over a grand. And it's not like it happened organically over time. There was a distinct spike a couple years ago that's been pumped up by the influx of outside speculators, egged on by WATA and Heritage Auctions.

This, I play PS2 games on original hardware but I've never paid for one. PS2 is like the second easiest console to softmod next to the Wii, really simple stuff and load times are even better than off disc + you dont have to worry about your laser burning out so its way better that way if you don't care about collecting which I think most people don't.

For Shadow Hearts, a good option is to get the PAL version. All of them got good PAL conversions. They run fullscreen, are multilingual and I think Covenant has a 60 Hz mode. Also, Covenant at least was dirt cheap here last time I looked, you could get it for less than 20€. Only FTNW has a garbage PAL version, but no one cares about that anyway.

        Anonymous

Shadow Hearts is cool but Covenant and From the New World are better (those aren't cheap either but they're under $100)
Silent Hill you can get the better Xbox version for much cheaper
Kuon and Haunting Ground, I'll take your word for it, survival horror games aren't really my thing
Xenosaga 3, most people will never play it because they have to fight through the first two games beforehand.
Never really understood why people are so crazy for God Hand
Skygunner does look cool, forgot that one
Dual Hearts looks kinda interesting but the best Fatlus and platformers are again much cheaper and you shouldn't start pining for this game until you get to page two of your platformers checklist. That's kind of the theme for most of these games, you can get the top 100 best PS2 games without ever spending that kind of money and only then will you look at these. God Hand aside which is probably the biggest name

No you can't. There's at least one N64 game you can't emulate at all, PS2 games that require accessories which can't be emulated at all, Xbox games that aren't compatible with any current emulator.
There will always be exceptions for every emulator. Sure they'll all play the most popular games at least acceptably. But to claim perfection is misleading.

For someone like me, playing games is the fun part.
For normies "collecting" is the whole point. They waste hundreds and thousands on collections that are too large to ever be enjoyed (as in PLAYED AND COMPLETED) by a single person and act like it's some kind of flex when they grab some ok-ish game no one gave a frick about 20 years ago because it cost them a mint.

If you're emulating it seems like it isn't a big of an issue. In general, these physical copies issues can die and the ones that feed from this can kill themselves. But it would be a way way worse problem if this was keeping people from playing games (like is happening with the Board Games scalpers, where people has to play 500 dollars for a new game and have no way to play it otherwise).

Don't bother replying if its going to be pissy though.

I went through a PS2 buying phase around 2012-15 where I bought all kinds of games. Kuon, Forbidden Siren 1 & 2, Haunting Grounds, King's Field 4, I own the lot.

As far as PS2 goes, just get an HDD and OPL. That's the best way to do it. If you absolutely need to buy physical, just go to a flea market or something and dig around for cheap games but don't pay the exorbitant prices being demanded by scalpers.
