i started as nomad. i arrived in night city within 30 minutes of starting the game. are all the backgrounds such a fricking nothing burger?
It barely has an impact, depending on your background you occasionally get additional dialogue choices. As a nomad for example you can comment on someone's motorcycle and tell him how to tune it, and when you get the bike later on it'll be better than if you were a street rat/corpo.
You get the car you start with as well.

Hard disagree? Or maybe you mean cringe dialogue cause yeah it can be cringe. But the story overall is pretty solid and feels like witcher 3 where dlc story was superb to main story imo. Also can someone tell me where did Reed lie / betray anyone? I just finished it and he seemed to be autistic but solid guy.

I don't have any mods but even so, it would disable all achievements not make them weirdly inconsistent

Achievement stats are always bugged for the first few weeks. I remember around launch of Elden Ring it said 1% of people had killed margit.
Seems accurate, considering that /vee/ was still walled at Margrit after 2 days.

i haven't bought the DLC and I am presumably counted in that percentage based on how steam achievements work

i keep wanting to do the dlc but i get distracted doing some random shit or finishing up side jobs

some dickhead rebooted my optics and now i have a permanent glitch effect stuck both sound and vision so I can't play the game at all. My last save was 4 hours before and the quicksaves won't load. I either have to lose progress or wait for cdpr to fix this issue. the mod that used to clear up the visual issues doesn't work on this.
this is a day 1 issue how do they not have a fix for this?

Probably not easy to consistently replicate. That's pretty much step 1 when it comes to bug fixing. I've had my optics hacked like 3 times so far and haven't had any issues so for their guys to fix your shit they'd need to learn why yours bugged out while others like mine didn't, and see if they can make that happen on demand.

Like me, was excited for PL and even had it on my wishlist but 2.0 broke a lot of stuff and shows that CDPR doesn’t care about this game anymore
Loot and monetary rewards don’t make sense since they never bothered adjusting the numbers while upping the sell price of guns, and then some side missions getting their narrative and game balance fricked because of the level scaling, to name a few issues

i havent even beaten the main story yet.
me and the friends i have that are playing through the game, are starting from scratch. the changes were so large that i was worth a fresh take, rather than just loading up a save, respeccing, and finishing said dlc.
I see so many end game stats at 3% or lower for basic stuff you don't even have to try for, it's like very few people finish games period.
