played snes games on emulator when i was 12. Had more fun than most modern shit. If you care about gameplay a lot still holds up. And there is a lot more comfort to it with no bullshit like bugs, loading screes and other wait time.
You can just click instantly play a bit and exit without delays.

If that was the case zoomers wouldn't swarm every single rerelease of a retro game and obsess over it.
It's not that the retro games aren't great. It's that the games are from before their time, so it doesn't feel like it's theirs.
This unironically means a lot to normalgays. And it's the same reason for why Skyrim is so frickhuge fricking larger than Oblivion or Morrowind. Oblivion was when the TES games grew appealing towards normalgays, but the games still had the perception of being for the nerds. So it wasn't until the launch of Skyrim when they had an opportunity to get into the game from day 0, that they jumped and made it theirs.
Retro games are like this too. Young people fricking love retro games. But they need context and circumstances that allows the products to be associated with them instead of the older generations.

i'm not anon, but most zoomers just spend 100% of their time watching tiktok or youtube, and fortnite (if it's not blocked by the school wifi) on their phones.
if fortnite is blocked by the school wifi, they could just play snes games or unity games in a browser, but I don't think the sites work on phones, but most schools have computers at the library.
depends what you consider retro.
technically gamecube and xbox is considered retro by some people, and halo 2, and mario galaxy are pretty good.
nes / snes / etc are difficult to swallow when you look at most of the games. but a few games stand out, like the super mario bros series is good, pokemon, and there are plenty of cool arcade games like metal slug.
