>only playable on a failed gimmick
>an overpriced, expensive, niche, inaccessible gimmick at that
>one of the few triple AAA games that would’ve been unironically good had it been on anything else
>a fricking half life title, only available to a tiny portion of the population
>you need to make expensive upgrades just to be able to run VR games
>gets everyone motion sick quickly
>a flatscreen port has been shot down by developers, spitting in the face of half life fans
Why exactly is this game praised again?

THIS THREAD IS NOW FOR FUNNY GTA CLIPS
>never played the game
If you did you would know it would be a shit 'normal' game. It's saving grace is the gimmick. Even then the puzzles are laughable for a half-life game.
>the puzzles are laughable for a half-life game
is the implication here that half-life games have ever had good puzzles
I'm not praising half-life puzzles. Alyx's puzzles are just mobile time wasters but in 3 dimensions.
half life 1 and 2 puzzles were the barest minimum of effort to be called puzzles
Yeah I know. I'm saying they shouldn't have bothered and just kept the run of the mill seesaws and floating barrels.
considering how slow everything is in hl alyx it's possible they felt that players would get to flustered with jumping/swimming and all that, teleport works too i suppose
Yeah it makes sense since it was made to be everyone's first VR game. The connect the dots balls just didn't fit in with the world and took me out of it.
Yes yes you cant afford VR, we get it.
i ran out of clips. everything else are mp4 files.
FRICK.
>failed gimmick
VR is doing pretty well actually, despite what people expected with the Meta drama.
I am only able to play new games after like 10 years so this is inconsequential to me.
alyx and beat saber are the only two good games for vr
how long have vr headsets been out now?
2 games
All the best games are vr mods. Stop expecting devs to deliver. That's why even flat games suck now
Haven't played much for vr since the pandemic killed my LAN center but there is/was a pretty damn good list of VR games.
>Hotdogs, Horseshoes & Handgrenades
>Beat Saber
>HL: Alyx
>Audioshield (back when you could copy/paste any Youtube link into it)
>Space Pirate Trainer is a top tier gallery shooter
>Arizona Sunshine is great for coop
>Roiland's games were really popular
>Boneworks was HL before HL: Alyx released
>VRChat attracted furries who tried to yiff in public
>SUPERHOT is 11/10 on VR
>Sairento is cool when it isn't bugging out
>Job Simulator is fun to play through each job once or twice but excels as being an intro to VR for boomers
>Fallout 4 / Skyrim VR = Fallout 4 / Skyrim in VR
>Star Trek Bridge Crew is everything Artemis wanted to be and more.
>Raw Data, most fun co-op game we had. Each character was unique and impacted combat in different ways.
There's been a decent few strong releases since then. Ruins Magus and Hubris are both great, Into the Radius is a personal favorite of mine, Gun Club VR makes target shooting fun again, and No Man's Sky VR has the best woah moment I think I've had thus far in VR, breaking atmo from your starting planet and seeing the galaxy stretch for impossible distances in every direction, the controls under your fingers as you consider where to go next.
I tried the Next Fest demo of Ruins Magus and it seemed really bad, you just wandered around in empty hallways mindlessly throwing fireballs at golems or whatever. Did it actually turn out good somehow?
It cleaned up pretty well by release, yeah. I think not giving you a vertical slice was a mistake, because the game starts pretty slow.
i dont think this game would be same if without the VR capabilities. maybe youre just poor, i had no problem running this gaem on my 1060 and 11-year-old i7. which you can get less than 200 dollars now
>an overpriced, expensive, niche, inaccessible gimmick at that
I played it on a second hand Oculus Rift CV1 that I bought for £200
>200 dollars +gaming PC
>Inaccessible
Sounds like a neet gay problem
>expensive expensive expensive
Played Alyx on a RX580 on a $200 WMR headset.
Sorry you missed the window where they were practically giving VR away
