Only played WoW in 2000's and it didn't last long. Got bored in 2 weeks.
But now would like to try MMORPG thing again. Looked into what is trendy and got interested with:
- Final Fantasy XIV — looks like modern upgraded WoW, also liked FF
- Elder Scrolls Online — the same TES (which is not great), but MMO
- RuneScape / OldSchool RuneScape — oldschool title promoted as golden classics
What should I try out of the list? Maybe, anything else?
It's your chance to shill your favorite titles, guys.
OSRS without doubt brother. It’s an amazing game that’s easy to get into but there is a lot of complexity when you reach the later stages. It caters perfectly to hardcore and casual players. And that OG aesthetic is the bomb; I just find modern graphics very ugly.
Edgy zoomer 'against the current thing' or just a poorgay who cannot afford a fine PC?
I have a good pc, I just like OSRS graphics. Is that wrong?
Ignore OP, are there any MMOs that are basically runescape wildy/ultima online nigmode as core gameplay?
Albion
>FFXIV
It is enjoyable if you are fine with final fantasy game first, mmo second, playerbase can be absolute fricking morons though, doubly so if you are on NA.
>ESO
The absolute worst combat to be ever conceived for an online game, a lot of questionable decisions even beyond that too, temper expectations greatly if you give it a try, but still it isn't all that bad overall, especially if you like tes lore.
>Runescape
Really fricking dated experience perpetuated by nostalgia goggles fanbase, i would honestly give something like swgemu or p99 try before dipping into runescape unless you played it when you were school grader.
>if you are fine with final fantasy game first, mmo second
I played only FF1 remake and I liked it. So, I guess, I'm good. Downloading FF14.
>especially if you like tes lore
Not a fan at all, TES world is so fricking generic and boooring. But if it had a free trial, could give it a try.
>Really fricking dated experience perpetuated by nostalgia goggles fanbase
Just as expected. I played WoW as a kid, discovered that RuneScape exists on boards recently.
Thanks for insight, fellow.
I'm gonna be the only moron in this thread but try regular runescape. I enjoy the quests. Once you get familiar with the combat system, the pve is enjoyable. The mining and smithing rework means you can craft your own gear and it's actually useful, unlike the old system still in osrs where you grind for hundreds of not thousands of hours to unlock the ability to craft level 40 gear (that you could have acquired for free faster from monster drops) the biggest argument against rs3 is the microtransactions, but I'm so desensitized to that shit the occasional popups asking me to buy some gaylord cosmetics or whale for xp boosters didn't even bother me
The problem with RS3 is the clutter on the screen. Too much is going on and I’ve asked RS3 vets and even they don’t know what’s happening lol. Game is convoluted. RS3 also has pay-to-win mechanics which suck imo. Finally, it just lacks the community OSRS has
if you like housing, check which of these suits you most
inaccurate. wow has garrisons
Garrison's costumization is linear and you don't have furniture nor option to place it. There is also no sense of personal property on it.
There are also MMOs with both garissons/keeps and player houses separately at the same time.
it's bad player housing and it sucks for the game as a whole but it should technically count
you are normie garbage
>garrisons
frick garrisons, I've been 12 years suggesting Blizzard to add player housing and instead we're stuck with a commie outpost
frick Blizzard slackers!
>garrisons
>player house
>sees ESO's housing pic
ESO basically has fallout 4-esque building mechanics so you can do some pretty crazy shit if youre creative.
are those mechas made of ingame furnishing by any chance?
yep
OP is here.
Downloaded FF14 demo and played for several hours. Shit's good. I like the fact I can play with gamepad, too. This will be my next toy.
FFXIV is a story game with a MMO tacked on.
ESO is great in most regards but the combat is dogshit and the equipment looks bad.
OSRS is a AFK cookie clicker. RS3 is OSRS on crack and with P2W.
Mortal Online 2
first person, full loot pvp, open world, no instances, player housing, sieges, territory control with taxes and shit(next big patch), castles you can siege, moronic magic spells like fire tornadoes and meteor showers, local voice chat, one server in EU but even australians on 200 ping can play just fine, especially non-melee builds
what about SWTOR?
Star Wars setting is normie garbage.
wotlk is the only good mmo
Go play it on a private server
Literally troony homosexuals LGBT the game.
have a nice day OP for making a thread on this homosexual game.
Literally love the fact that I'm surrounded by cute catgirl prostitute avatars, while playing a male androgynous character.
