>paid the family >paid a VA to say the voice lines and altered them in post >family gave permission >voice actor had a good relationship with CDPR prior to death
am I supposed to be mad or something
It feels moronic for a studio to do common sense stuff like that, since alternative is to hire another VA who sounds wrong that they HAVE to have """permission""" in the accompanying article or the AI doomers would shitpost it to all hell.
>record your voice >create a perfect simulation of you shouting Black person Black person Black person >play it for your boss >you're fired
It's not your voice anon, it's fine.
In general Ganker needs a "any screenshot of an article must have a link to said article"
/misc/ is fricking moronic with misleading """articles"" getting 300 posts from troglodytes
>Multiple myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Healthy plasma cells help fight infections by making proteins called antibodies. Antibodies find and attack germs. In multiple myeloma, cancerous plasma cells build up in bone marrow.
sounds excruciating
rip dude
There's a few options.. rerecord the entire character, kill him off and swap him for a similar character, make him mute and pass you notes like a skyrim creation club quest, or hire someone who sounds similar
>light is coming from the right side >livia's head is shaded on the right
With sloppy shit like this I think an off screen sudden death would have been more respectful to the actress and affected Tony more, plus this last conversation added nothing to the story.
Reminds me of the pullstring toy zombie Leia from the last Star Wars movie too. It's so obvious when an actor is working with pre recorded lines.
The entire concern actors have with AI is companies owning their voices/likeness, using them without consent and profiting with them
with no residuals being paid. It's not about AI being evil inherently
CDPR also did use another VA (and paid him his due and shit) to record those new lines and then morphed the voice to sound like the dead actor. Everybody's happy.
>a handful of voice actors give their permission for anyone to use their voices >they die >companies just use dead peoples voices ad infinitum while regular people are never given a chance to voice act again
Epic
Alot of people seem to not understand the full story here, so
1. it was the Polish voice actor for Viktor Vektor. Unless you play the game in Polish, this doesn't affect you.
2. They didn't completely synthesize his voice. They had another actor read the lines, then altered it to sound more like him using software. Kind of like those AI singing videos you see.
It's really not that interesting, and it's been done before.
AI acting is bad when companies are doing it to replace humans.
But in this case it's fine, they got permission from the actor's family.
It's possible that the alternative would be to have another actor replace all of his lines akin to the Destiny Peter Dinklage — which would probably be worse for his legacy.
CDPR still used the new voice actor to record the new lines, they just morphed his voice to sound like the old VA afterwards. That's why you almost can't tell that this isn't the old VA.
how did they get the permission from a dead guy >b-b-but they got the permission from his family!
they dont have the right to exploit him like that
would you want your family to get your dead body stuffed and put on display naked in public because someone paid them a few bux
AI will unironically save the videogame industry. Can use it to fill in random npc dialogue with many more lines and can use it to build textures and low important assets to save the art team time. That way real voice actors and the art team can focus on the high importance areas that require a more personal touch.
>Can use it to fill in random NPC dialogue with many more lines
That's soulless as frick anon. If the creator didn't hand-pick that dialogue why would I want the game full of noise?
cool
cdproject kek is more cyberpunk than their game
Cant wait the ghoul polski having cybernetic shit in their next game presentation
pretty neat
Is this only for the dlc? How did man manage to croak that fast
>Cyberpunk 2077 was 50 years ago
gamers often send death threats to devs, it's not that unlikely that someone would die from stress
Maybe we should start charging Gankerners with murder then
he died in 2021 from covid, he was pretty old
in cyberpunk he played Viktor but in witcher he was Thaler to give you an idea
It was cole from Black personloop
why the blood looking like syrup?
I dunno ask rafael colantino from arkane
How is he supposed to go back to china after you've stabbed him to death???
Fricking moron writers
he'll go back to china in a body bag B)
Oh, I liked both characters. Rip
Idk if he died from having covid, but he had bone marrow cancer, so idk that might've done it
I mean, if he had cancer and was on chemo, then his immune system would basically not exist, making him extremely vulnerable to even mild diseases.
>but in witcher he was Thaler
sad, big F
And Vesemir.
covid vaccine*
He didn't die from covid, he died from cancer.
>nobody knew
AI won
>Arisaka got his Engram
>oof
He deserves it for leting jackie corpse get dissecrated if you send it
>paid the family
>paid a VA to say the voice lines and altered them in post
>family gave permission
>voice actor had a good relationship with CDPR prior to death
am I supposed to be mad or something
AI is evil anon you're supposed ot get upset and complain on twitter.
Wasn't that a thing back before the game launched? I distinctly remember this being brought up.
When in the frick did that dude die??
After I killed his ass for working on that pozzslop troonygame
Wtf Cyberpunk dystopia is REAL??
I couldn't even tell. Good job. VAkeks will be out of job soon.
It wasn't the english voice actor
>with permission
I don’t see how this is a problem
You shouldn't even need permission. You can't "own" a timbre.
>t. Corporate bootlickers
Bootlicking corporations is based when they have gay pride flags and make really bad race swap movies because it owns the chudcel thoughbeit
Patents only benefit corporations, dumbass bootlicker.
It feels moronic for a studio to do common sense stuff like that, since alternative is to hire another VA who sounds wrong that they HAVE to have """permission""" in the accompanying article or the AI doomers would shitpost it to all hell.
>record your voice

It's not your voice anon, it's fine.
So?
safe and effective
Holy shit I didn't even realize
That is kinda the scary part, the new lines sound as normal as the basegame ones.
...the AI was used for the polish cut of the game
Ah, that explains a lot. Now I'm curious how much of a difference there is.
Which OP had clarified this
In general Ganker needs a "any screenshot of an article must have a link to said article"
/misc/ is fricking moronic with misleading """articles"" getting 300 posts from troglodytes
AI won, you lost. Simple as.
>Multiple myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Healthy plasma cells help fight infections by making proteins called antibodies. Antibodies find and attack germs. In multiple myeloma, cancerous plasma cells build up in bone marrow.
sounds excruciating
rip dude
>With Permission
What's the issue?
Its panam with permission to? Just saw her reactions if you talk to her at camp after the shit dlc and sounds like a phone call
Also how ironic given that vik in new ending is a ripperbitch
>ripperbitch
wat?
What else are you going to do when a character's actor dies and you still have shit planned for him?
There's a few options.. rerecord the entire character, kill him off and swap him for a similar character, make him mute and pass you notes like a skyrim creation club quest, or hire someone who sounds similar
>light is coming from the right side
>livia's head is shaded on the right

Need Trandalore to throw a b***hfit about it because AI is unethical PERIOD
>With permission
What a fricking butthole.
Ruining things for other voice actors else because he knew it wouldn't affect him.
Rot in hell, scumbag.
>game about an evil corporation
>by an evil corporation
>with permission
how?
did they call a necromancer
No a voodoo boy with kamionetmancing
Don't worry. Once you die everyone will just disregard your wishes and do what's best for them.
>with permission
Then it's fine
The entire concern actors have with AI is companies owning their voices/likeness, using them without consent and profiting with them
with no residuals being paid. It's not about AI being evil inherently
You don't own a voice performance though. No one does. They want something that isn't a legal concept.
Then the VA can bring a suit from hell.
CDPR also did use another VA (and paid him his due and shit) to record those new lines and then morphed the voice to sound like the dead actor. Everybody's happy.
>a handful of voice actors give their permission for anyone to use their voices
>they die
>companies just use dead peoples voices ad infinitum while regular people are never given a chance to voice act again
Epic
>Then it's fine
Its fine even without permission, moron.
someone warn the Abos!
It's really not that interesting, and it's been done before.
>with permission
why oof, OP? this is probably the best use case for the tech.
Yeah that's fine.
It's better that than retroactively replacing all of the OG voice actor's lines.
>done with permission
>paid the family for using AI to emulate his voice
>a literal proper use of AI technology
why is this bad?
how did they get the permission from a dead guy
>b-b-but they got the permission from his family!
they dont have the right to exploit him like that
would you want your family to get your dead body stuffed and put on display naked in public because someone paid them a few bux
Did you ask the dead guy if he has a problem with it?
im an ultracapitalist so I'm okay if my family gets paid to put me naked on display while dead
How did they get permission from a dead person
AI won and this is proof.
Also nobody needs to ask permission for using a dead man's voice, looks, or clothes.
The creator can handpick any dialog lines they want. Just hand the AI a script and it does the rest. You would never know the difference.
it makes sense in the context of cyberpunk because AI is used everywhere in the game lore.
