Open world maps are overrated.
Non linearity is overrated.
>b-but on SV you can go to a higher level gym first and then be overleveled for the other ones
Ok... and?

What do I gain from the game being linear?
You play the game the way you're supposed to.
But I can do that more with open world.
>enjoyment
Then why do I enjoy it less?
>because linear is the default in Pokemon
[citation needed]
enjoyment if you have to be told that you don't play or enjoy games
The question you're supposed to ask is what do you gain from the game being nonlinear, because linear is the default in Pokemon.
>Hear a certain Pokemon is available in a specific region
>Path your way to that region and catch it
>Get to use your cool new Pokemon for the entire game instead of just the endgame/postgame like what would happen if the game was linear
>go to that region
>you can't catch the Pokemon because you don't have enough badges
Do you even play Pokemon, moron? Badges have never precluded you from CATCHING Pokemon, save for story-mandated linear progression checkpoints.
If I want to go to Glaseado Mountain and catch a Frigibax as soon as possible, I can.
Yeah, you’re overleveled now. Stop talking.
>implying pokemon games are harder when not overleveling
pokemon will always be piss baby shit, the only way to make it "difficult" is to put autistic limitations on yourself
Oh no! I'm overleveled? In a Pokemon game? This is somehow open world's fault!
>Tighter game design
where
I’m not talking about a specific pokemon game, I’m just outlining the biggest weakness when it comes to open world game design.
For example, in BoTW the player could complete shrines in whichever order they wanted to, so there’s no real escalation in complexity or difficulty for 99% of the games’ shrines. The vast majority of them take like 2 minutes to complete. In a more linear game there would be a more natural difficulty curve.
Funny, since anti-togglegays like you (who actively want to be overleveled) want EXP Share forced onto everyone with zero choice to opt out, because they want to experience the game exactly how Gamefreak intended them to. A.K.A. The exact OPPOSITE of what an open-world does.
>Funny, since anti-togglegays like you (who [FANFIC]
Tighter game design for the most part. In an open world game the developers can’t account for all the tools/resources you could have at any given moment, since you could’ve gone anywhere.
a game with actual design that doesn't have the impression of being just one big randomly generated terrain with copy-pasted "points of interest" peppered meaninglessly across it
> a game with actual design
where
a recent linear game i played and enjoyed was Cocoon, excellent design is all over that game
S/Vgays sees pic related and loses their collective shit because they run and jump around in a "open world".
What do you gaon from shouting into nothingness? Just do something that you enjoy.
What do you Ganon?
I meant "gain". Sorry.
Open world is a fricking meme. I'm tired of every game doing this
troony op, shit opinion
just the usual
Non linear, open world is the future of the series.
There's things that should be improved on, like scaling trainers in accordance to your number of badges, but it's a step in the right direction.
SV is trash but I wanna frick Nemona so bad, I wish we get to see her in different cute outfits.
i liked how the pokemon fan included an erotic drawing of an 11 year old, just to really drive the point home
>it's another "open world le bad" thread where the unovagay who made it can't actually explain how linear hallway shit is better
every time
I love how open worlds filters npcs. They just can't wrap their heads around being able to go anywhere, they need to be given directilns, have clear objectives, like cattle.
Open world truly is the savant's choice. Midwits love corridors because it's basically a movie where you have no actual input to give. It's embarassing.
the games have a start and end, therefore linear.
>Pokemon falls for the open world meme
>gets even worse
Sasuga. Can’t wait to see how pokegays justify their brand slavery in Gen 10. Those games are going to be a hilarious mess.
Love how on day 1 of this game’s launch there were people spoiling everything mew in wonder trade. I really loved that.
Very easy to scale difficulty just ZOOPZOOPZOOP all the way to level 50 and then give them round 5 battle factory Ai
“Why can’t pokemon evolve in gen10?”Mega energy but play the game.
So this is the power of unparalleled freedom..
I will now catch all pokemon
