The first game had decent art and match 3 gameplay with some funny dialogue here and there. HunieCam Studio was ok I guess, the gameplay didn't appeal to me and there was no porn. Huniepop 2 was a step down compared to the first game and had a strange selection of girls, like a literal weaboo whose cooch smells like fish or an Arabian nympho working in airport security (lel) whose hobby is watching porn. IDK what HuniePot was smoking when making this game

Kickstarter for the first game was more of a visual novel / dating sim. Halfway through development he felt it was too much into incel territory and fired his writer turning the game more into a standard bejeweled clone. It was still good game and became an overnight success so he let it get to his head thinking people didn't like the dating / visual novel aspect.
Second game turned all the girls into prostitutes only made for meet and frick (dev is a "pick up artist" btw). He removed normal dates so you can only do double dates, shifting the focus completely to puzzle gameplay instead of dating. Obviously this alienated the crowd that only came for the dating sim and girlfriend aspects. Second game sold like shit accordingly and the franchise is probably dead for good.

take polly for example. he got the birght idea of incorporating a "futa" into the game, without even knowing what frick one actually is, or how ACTUALLY popular the fetish is (it isnt that big). like "cat girl" or "alien" might be considered a "fetish" to some people, but even people that dont thirst for it can just overlook it and take the person for what it is. a "futa" is a lot harder to do that with, especially when the creator doesnt understand what it fricking means. then he put it in anyway, in the dumbest fence sitter way possible, and missed the point completely.

The dev either didn't recognize this, or hated his fans for it, because Huniecam Studio felt grody and in poor taste, while Huniepop 2 was a total shitpost with zero intention of appealing to people.

Pretty much the one porn game I've played and enjoyed. The dialogue is fun and the characters are all distinct and (almost) all of them are interesting to interact with. Match-3 shit is fun and can be genuinely hard at points. Nikki and Jessie are my faves. The sequel sucked because the gimmick got old. I liked when the Audrey VA called everyone on Ganker homosexuals

Audrey is a fan favorite because of her aggressive b***hiness. She's unapologetic, true to herself, and assertive. I think some of It's a sense of taming the beast or indulging in the challenge. Her high standards make you feel special when she decides you're not so worthless after all
But I would say Nikki isn't so bad. She was made for people who like the idea of a pure virgin loser gamer girl. The reason she's abrasive to begin with is because she's outside her element at the club and thinks you're a loser douchebag coming to hit on her.

At most, we'd just need more cross-girl scenes of them just hanging out, to flesh out their character, similar to the intro of 1. But we don't need double dates.

its funny, everybody hates "baggage" with shit opinions like "why am i PUNISHED for getting to the know the girls better? wtf?", but baggage actually makes the puzzles more nuanced and engaging. they often change how you approach the puzzle entirely. this girl LIKES broken hearts instead of regular hearts? changes how you see the puzzle, and maybe you have a different toy for that. this girl HATES sentiment matches? better factor that into my strategy. the double date thing worked really well for that, and let you work with some interesting combos. it was a lot better than the "one strategy wins all" from the first game.
