The game babies you on every step. I also wanna punch whoever decided that monsters dont respawn after a set amount of days. The overworld feels so lifeless and empty because of that. Plus monsters are a legit rarity at times. Huge fricking areas and you have like what; 15-20 monsters roaming around, max.

They outsource a lot of their stuff, even Pikmin 4 was partly made by Eighting. Nothing wrong with that, but there are going to be games they want to keep fully internal and for example making a new open world Zelda with graphical fidelity on par with a PS4/PS4 Pro would be pretty daunting without more staff.

TOTK is probably the best game ever created for talent development and onboarding fresh eyes. Caves, shrines and environmental puzzles are all crafted by hand so junior game designers got the opportunity to make some. A *ton* of people at Nintendo got their shot at being a designing what's essentially a microlevel. I expect Nintendo's output in the upcoming years to increase a lot now that tons of new people and standbys that never got a shot proved themselves on TOTK. We're probably going to see a flood of low budget games like Meteos
