Lawnmower Man was Flowers for Algernon but with VR. It's about a simple low-IQ/partially moronic man who's the subject of an experiment to increase his intelligence. It works, but also makes him disillusioned with modern society. Lawnmower Man takes it a step further into horror territory where he ultimately wants to become god of the internet because people are too stupid to manage themselves, or something. It was named something else in the script, but some exec decided to call it "Stephen King's Lawnmower man", but then Stephen King got pissed and demanded his name get taken off, but ultimately it's still called The Lawnmower man, and Stephen King gays are still bitter about it
