I hate when fiction invents something new and then clumsily tries to tie it back to Earth-specific phenomena. Plants ARE green on Earth because they specifically do not use green light significantly; having more green light available would be useless to plants, so trying to relate the Supox to our native plants in this way is a mistake.

Sure, the theory may not be correct, but the explanation given is fundamentally baseless and shouldn't have reached theory level (within the setting) in the first place. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure our own sun technically peaks in green light as well, emphasizing my point.

It's a kind of iffy explanation, our suns' peak emission wavelength is indeed green, but our green plants actually reflect green light rather than absorb it.
Purple plants would be best adapted to absorb green, and fun fact, scientists think that early photosynthetic algae was actually purple, but was outcompeted by green chlorophyll based algae as the oxygen levels in the atmosphere increased
