No. It does mean you guys will pay for anything shelled out as early as possible though.
Quality isn't the issue, the fact you have that wallet opened immediately because of brand worship at any price is.

It's not early access but rather the full release.
For example Starfield, where you could play it like ~3 days early by buying the $100 dollar edition.

Thats the point, now even SINGLE PLAYER games are doing that. They're exploiting the FOMO and the fear of the player to get spoiled because he didnt buy the early access to sell "premium" edition of their games.

            Anonymous

No, Only online games did that in the past. Single player games did early access stuff but they did it like BG3, its not the full game and it didnt require a "premium edition" price tag for it. Shit like Starfield did is something that started happening just recently.

Anon even youtube will spoil it for you unless you use 3rd party applications to remove the ability for youtube to recommend anything and Ganker in particular spoils everything constantly. Any social media other than some obscure mastodon instance is going to have a risk of spoiling you. Plus that doesn't stop people in real life from spoiling it like with Harry Potter if it's a big enough deal. There is no defense for companies being so greedy that they charge for 3 days of early access for a single player game.

I'm not even buying into the paid early access you dumb frick, I hate the practice and use the aforementioned blockers along with GankerX. That's why I know they exist in the first place. I'm just giving the point of view why people fall for the FOMO. You can not decouple the social media addicts from their internet addiction, they will pay to avoid spoilers every time. Instead of going after dumb humans being unable to alter their behavior it's just better to take aim at the predatory practices designed solely to prey on them. You can actually change those.

I never got any spoilers for anything I didn't go out of my way to find it.

Are you moronic? FOMO is when the dev releases a time limited content/offers. Getting spoiled is not a time limited thing, its something that potentially ruins the whole player's experience. You're just doing mental gymnastics to justify your moronic opinion.

                >This doesn't affect me, this will never affect me
That's short sighted because this will end up with companies moving onto a new method to israelite you instead once this becomes standard so their profits can keep rising. Just how how MTX is now common and they opted to monetize this way on top of those. If you keep giving these companies the leeway to israelite everyone with no pushback, they're gonna keep thinking of ways to frick consumers over and those will effect you like the price increase from $60 to $70 for new games.

So even if it does not effect you because you're capable of being patient and staying off sites or using blockers, you should speak up loudly about what homosexuals these corporations are being so that the normalgays catch on and start pushing back more too. That's the only way to prevent further israeliteing because voting with our wallets does not work, there's way more morons with wallets.

We're left with 2 people left cracking Denuvo. 1 is a deranged troony and the other only cracks Football Manager, at some point you will feel the consequences of the push towards more egregious monetization. Even if it's in 10 years when games are now subscription service only because no one is paying $150 for a base game with early access and $100 more for all the DLC for it. At that point, piracy and modding both die and the industry will have been bought up by mega corporations, with each indie successful release having the corporations lining up like suitors to buy the developer out so they can pump and dump the IP.

Nvidia right now is overpricing the frick out of GPUs and trying to make cloud streaming take off. It's obvious that the future gaming is pushing towards is cloud based subscription services like what's happened with every other form of media and the more fricking ridiculous the pricing models for gaming become, the more likely people will be to put up with the latency from cloud gaming. The Series S being 70% of the Series market share despite being much worse than the Series X only proves that people will put up with more bullshit if it saves them a bunch of money. Hell, that's the entire reason subscription services took off when the 360 was so cheap and they made up with the cheap initial price with Xbox Live subs.

I didnt spend 100USD because i got the cracked version. Its not about self-control its about greedy corpos exploiting the spoiler culture to sell more expensive versions of their game, If you support this shit you're utterly moronic.

Do you REALLY not understand how the stock market works anon? You talk like a child.

Once a company becomes publicly traded it exists purely to increase profits in any and all ways possible, it's not greed, it's the purpose of the company to act this way if it's publicly traded/ The CEO will be replaced if he does not do this, infact he can be sued for not "being greedy" it is his fiduciary responsivity to investors. The point is continual returns on investment, so share price needs to be higher than last.

A private company is like a cat killing a mouse and taking it away to eat it, a publicly traded company is like a terrier that will kill every single mouse.

Mtx is also a stupid tax. You don't want a stupid tax. The devs will always put the stupid taxpayers on a pedestal and make things worse for people who refuse to pay

They will do it whether we like it or not, you have become confused with how much impact whining actually has on the wider audience.

Everywhere you post is a niche of a niche of the consoomer base of these titles.

The reason they force early access on those games is to prevent people from getting physical copies.
They earn more money from digital copies.

This way they don't give retailers any money (unless you buy from the key store)

How does this affect you in any way? If consoomers wanna consoom and pay to beta test the game for you then let them.

It affects me greatly because i end up needing to stay away from the internet for a week to not get spoiled by the morons who bought the "premium edition".

    >Microsoft has been doing this with their "ultimate editions" for years now
    >coincidentally they're also the ones making the biggest push for digital only consoles because of game pass
Another reason why Microsoft's continued existence has been detrimental for gaming.

Same with Valve honestly. Slowly making gaming worse for well a decade.

Why are you not buying our 100USD premium edition to prevent getting spoiled ? Are you poor? If you're poor, too bad... you WILL get spoiled and you WILL LIKE IT unless you're willing to leave the internet for a whole week 🙂

closer to 2 weeks with some games, switch games have it bad with how early they leak because of emulators allowing 1 person with an early copy to share it with the entire internet.

This is fine, because if you buy it on steam and play early access, you can refund the game anytime up until it actually releasing. Meaning you can put 5000 hours into a game that's in long term early access and then refund it the day before it comes out no questions asked.

      Anonymous

doesn't work because it's not really early access

That's up to the dev. Like, no joke, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS. The ONLY way this is good, is if it's like $10 for EA and that gives you EVERYTHING on retail release because you had to wait like 3 years on that 1 man dev team.

early access isn't really the correct term. the "early" release is just the release day. the game costs $80 instead of $60, but there's a price drop to $60 a week after release

In a roundabout way isnt this good? As it means you will have loads of amateur footage of the game up for the official regular day of release so you will know if the game is shit or not and wont have to rely on shills to tell you if the game is broken or not.

I cannot understand the mindset of somebody who feels the need to pay $30 to play a game a couple days early. It feels like you would need to be borderline disabled, like there's some kind of inability to understand the future or an impulse control issue.

    >indie early access
    >pay cheaper version of the game
    >help devs
    >can provide feedback to shape the future

Just about every game is early access now, they just don't tell you.

There is a difference between early access that doesnt give you the full game access and/or the dev doesnt charge extra for it ( Like BG3 did ) And of what Starfield did selling the full game early access and charging premium pricetag for it.

  46. 8 months ago
    Anonymous

This is good as you get the complete morons to play the game a week early like Starfield and let all the regular non moronic people know the game is shit so it can be avoided. Its actually shits on hype for a game.

If you can do delayed gratification then it's literally a non issue. When a game releases wait up to a year for the big update and then buy it for half the price.

I bought three games on release in my life, cyberpunk, payday 3 and fallout 76.

    I only regret 76.

I can't remember the last time I bought a game at full price, let alone the ~~*deluxe edition*~~
