Do the hedgehog grenades go off instantly? I was disappointed that the craftable grenades exploded on a timer and hear a lot of people talk about Galeclaw as a glider but not much about the others.
I'd think the status effect would help a bit for catching too, maybe one of the few cases where a lower attack passive would be helpful as to not to KO the pal you're trying to catch
Killamari as a glider has the unique property of gaining a little lift, so even if it's slower it has a niche, especially since grapple boosting will get you a lot of speed at any rate
i got a shiny Celeray at the very start of my playthrough and i've been using him almost the whole way through the game.

Vanwym has been pretty useful for punching above my weight. I've had a gazillion scorching eggs so a Kelsea Ignis and my two star vanwym was lighting up certain bosses way above my level like the Wumpo Botan and Vaelet. Dogfighting around the boss was kinda fun too.
There's lots of Pals I've seen that I expected to have more furry art of, but I'm also not a furry so I guess I can't really call what they pick.
Melpaca was my first mount and I have a swift Kingpaca. It was nice super early on having like 800 carrying to move bases or just turbo mine a dungeon
Killamari is really great because it has 2 transporting skill and nothing else and it's small. Extremely reliable transporter, although I wish it was cute since I used so many.
Hootcrates main issue is that it’s slow as frick and although it has a really long back step and small profile most attacks are projectiles that will hit it anyways
Hoocrates is the obligatory early game element buffer, in the same vein as Rooby/Sparkit/Dumud/Cremis/Bristla/Kelpsea (Dragon doesn't have one though). Viable enough, but there are just better options.
Groirat gets +50% Atk with his skill which puts him 2nd only to Necromus in raw Atk.
Killamari is a solid glider that takes forever to run out of stamina with, though I'll agree Celeray is kinda dogwater.
Warsect is badass.

There really needs to be more insects in the game, the fact we only have Cinnamoth/Bees/Warsect/Menasting is kinda lame. Give me a swarm of tiny bugs as a single pal (stats vary based on current HP), a small earlygame Dragon-type dragonfly, a Ground-type sandworm, a big Electric centipede, and a butterfly with huge fukken wings.

Gorirat gets +200% attack with his ability at 4 stars, making him flat out the strongest ability damager in the game while the effect lasts, even stronger than a maxed out Sweepa which will only get a 104% attack boost. You COULD stack Cremis to bring that attack bonus even higher, but 4 4 star cremis would only bring you from 300% attack total to 380% which probably isn't worth 4 pal slots (even worse when you stack attack traits as well)
Let's see, with perfect IVs a Necromus + 4 Hootcrates (all maxed out) will have 3143 attack (with Lord of the Underworld as 4th trait for max damage). WITHOUT Cremis, a perfect Gorirat will have 3249 attack during berserk. With 4 Cremis it would be 3951
So the numbers are fairly close, but the Necromus needs the 4 buffers while Gorirat can pretty much do without them. Without buffers Necromus only has 2137 attack.
You can actually do more ability damage with a Frostallion while mounted than either of those though.
Frostallion will have 2073 attack by itself, or 3048 with buffers. However, while mounted it gains +100% ice damage. Assuming that stacks additively with Ice Emperor, you are dealing 6706 attack-equivalent in damage, compared to 3899 equivalent with Gorirat. Not even in the same league.

Felbat is good for the same reason, used her as a tank for higher level fights when my other pals were recovering and I'd never die, only get timed out.

I'm personally fond of rebalanced mount speeds, force feeder + both stuck rescuers, capture count display, and 25% condensor costs. No way am I catching 116 dupes per pal especially when it's necessary for rare pals like Jormuntide Ignis to do their jobs fast.

The shit problems are about half because of all the pills she has to take.
As for dementia, it's partly genetics, but here's a quick rundown of some of the things I figure contributed to it:
1. Fairly early retirement, which isn't good for people if they don't go out and do shit.
2. No hobbies outside of low-tier knitting skills and low-tier painting skills, both of which she quit pretty quick because nobody born after the 80s gives a frick about basic landscape paintings and low-quality hats.
3. Her diet her whole life has been F-tier because she learned the basic shit like "boil potato" and "read instructions from box" and "put leftovers into a pot and boil it and call it 'goulash' for some reason" and that's it. Seriously though, I love cooking and I made actual goulash for once and she got into an argument with me about how "wrong" I was???
4. Never got much exercise, before or after retirement.
5. 95% of her time after retirement was spent watching TV. The other 5% is cleaning the house poorly and throwing leftover food into pots with water until it becomes a sludge.
6. Grew up in a poor household, and got all the hand-me-downs and the leftovers, leaving her with some malnutrition issues as a kid.
7. All that shit starchy garbage foods she cooked, plus an addiction to sweets, chips and potatoes gave her diabetes, which is bad enough to prevent them from actually going anywhere or doing anything.

Honestly, I feel like Astegon is in a bad spot in terms of the power creep. Most people just skip him and go straight for Jetragon or Shadowbeak and other legendaries and he gets left behind because the Pals before him have been breed to be just as good or even better so there's no need to "upgrade" to an Astegon when you're just a skip and a hop away from a Legendary.
Mossanda has been a permanent party member since I got his grenade launcher, he deletes raids and the ragdoll on hit gives free time to recover HP on bosses while it lasts.

Absolutely not, single traits kill efficiency: Anubis being able to carry ores, for example, ensures that having 4-5 of them not only clear all the coal/ore deposits but that they won't stay idle and clean up and do other jobs.
Too much variety does kill efficiency but handiwork, watering, kindling, planting and carrying are always useful abilities.
Watering/Planting/Kindling is always useful because it's a 1 task you do every now and then or in the case of kindling, something that must be done either with high kindling or by the best unit that can.
Handiwork/Carrying are things that always need to be done in a base for proper maintenance and flow of things.
Logging and mining meanwhile depend upon the base, as the pals may end up fixating over quarries or cutting random trees, clogging up the work for the carriers and ignoring other jobs.

If a base is not self sufficient then it's a shitty base.
At best I carry already finished ingots towards the main base to produce stuff en-masse, otherwise each of my base is self sufficient without needing me to be a slave in return.
The problem with alphas is even if you don't care about IV autism (like me) breeding 4 passives make a HUGE difference in stats.
My passive bred wixen has 1500 atk, while a normal/alpha has like 800.

The only saving grace is its passive, which I could see people actually making use of. But I imagine the majority of people just use helzephyr and frostallian noct for dark damage instead.
I used it for a long time from the start of the game. Cute looks, and decent in combat. But yeah, there's LOT of cool dark pals, so he doesn't really stand a chance.
On the other hand, I feel like there isn't enough cool Grass and Normal type.
Nox is too hard to find. The only time I manage to find one is from a dark trader. And I normally spend my time at night running around and trying to find it.

Game needs to allow you to adjust Pal movement in combat via a tactics options. For example a setting to make your pal run away from the enemy or circle it. One to stay close to the enemy or tamer.
Theyre in the final snow area of the game, nighttime only or sometimes underground.
They really need a buff, as they are slower than the fricking purple deer you can catch and ride at the start of the game.
Other anons idea of them getting a short fly would work, as other mounts like frostallion can do it so the code is already there. Just give maraith shit stamina to compensate.

I keep telling people about how Lyleen's "dress" is well designed, it's lilly petals with Lyleen's legs sticking out as the stamen. Noct has "stars" on it's dress to invoke the "Stargazer Lilly" which is common at funerals giving it connotations to death. It's just very well designed, more thought put into it then Gardevoir honestly.

I'm surprised incineram isn't talked more about. Probably one of the best early game offensive pals you can get. The burns also help with catching pals.
all my regular pals got absolutely fricked the first time i tried frostallion. had to run around kiting for ages and using my legendary AR to wittle it down until i could finally catch it

I kind of stop relying on burn aliment since my target keep dying from it when I try to catch them
burn doesn't do that much damage, just debuff them when they're at like 15% HP and start spamming balls, if you do it right it only ticks burn damage once per time they break out the ball before they're back in another, you'll catch it before it dies or the burn wears off if you keep failing
So what's the best watering pal? I don't mind going for a 4 star pal or two, but I'm over Jormuntide and Suzaku Aqua. My farming base also has three breeding pens and two ranches, so I'm in need of pals that can do their jobs efficiently and not get stuck.

Water got fricked over. You either use small low level water pals, or elp. Every other water pal are too big, too annoying, or is a flyer. Ganna wait until the +70 pal addition update and see if there a useful mid-size water pals or a bipedal waifumon
Penking is cool as frick, but yeah, I do kind of agree. I've been using Suzaku Aqua myself. Jormuntide looks cool, and doubles as a dragon, but big pals are really awkward in movement sometimes.

Loupmoon is a good battle buddy, and it doesn’t really fall off, there are just stronger endgame dark pals for combat. I put four stars on mine and gave it some high-end skill fruits, and it tears shit up. I just like pals with the more active skills, it’s nice being able to manually tell them to do something and see them kill shit.

tombat wrecks in the lower levels. pals are so evenly balanced and so are moves that they are really only separated by their base traits. I like floppia for beginner farms because they can do a lot, same with robinquill. The best non-legendary is Anubis. his intrinsic perk is nuts and he has level 4 handiwork

I haven't had a pal learn a new move at level 50 yet. Until it gets patched, you will still likely have to use the fruit even if you wait until level 50.
To minmax the pals you want?
You won't be able to minmax shit before beating legends and this would at least cut the breeding time and make legends be worth more to challenge

The first couple levels is usually the hardest because you're by yourself and you're doing all the work. Its only when your base becomes automated when you're free from doing the heavy lifting.
I like the early game more than any lategame when it comes to survival sims.
Something about being forced to craft by yourself is more appealing to me than fully automated bases. If I wanted a factory line I'd play Factorio. The game just feels souless when I don't have to go out of my way to get anything and I'm just farming specific bosses/dungeons for rare drops
Gonna be honest here. Most of the obvious waifu pals have top-tier designs, but a lot of the designated husbando pals look like absolute shit. Incineram is the only few decent ones with an all-around solid design. They need to go back to the drawing board and redesign some of their pals for sure. It also doesn't help that there's a frickton of shameless recycling going on with model assets. Pic-related is one obvious example. Literally recycling eikthydeer's horns. Depresso and Cawgnito also share the same tails as well, Wumpo botan and lyleen the same flowers, among other things.
And forgot the fricking pic. Same horns, its definitely a sign of rushed or lazy asset-recycling. Which is weird when Pocketpair put so much effort into their animations.
I caught all the legends and now I just have to hit level 50 so I can fight Victor without dealing reduced damage. Is he hard? Axel was much more difficult than Marcus or any of the legends.

I'd think the status effect would help a bit for catching too, maybe one of the few cases where a lower attack passive would be helpful as to not to KO the pal you're trying to catch
Killamari as a glider has the unique property of gaining a little lift, so even if it's slower it has a niche, especially since grapple boosting will get you a lot of speed at any rate

Vanwym has been pretty useful for punching above my weight. I've had a gazillion scorching eggs so a Kelsea Ignis and my two star vanwym was lighting up certain bosses way above my level like the Wumpo Botan and Vaelet. Dogfighting around the boss was kinda fun too.
There's lots of Pals I've seen that I expected to have more furry art of, but I'm also not a furry so I guess I can't really call what they pick.
Melpaca was my first mount and I have a swift Kingpaca. It was nice super early on having like 800 carrying to move bases or just turbo mine a dungeon
Killamari is really great because it has 2 transporting skill and nothing else and it's small. Extremely reliable transporter, although I wish it was cute since I used so many.

Hoocrates was pretty useful early game for me . Good pal.
Hootcrates main issue is that it’s slow as frick and although it has a really long back step and small profile most attacks are projectiles that will hit it anyways
Hoocrates is the obligatory early game element buffer, in the same vein as Rooby/Sparkit/Dumud/Cremis/Bristla/Kelpsea (Dragon doesn't have one though). Viable enough, but there are just better options.
Groirat gets +50% Atk with his skill which puts him 2nd only to Necromus in raw Atk.
Killamari is a solid glider that takes forever to run out of stamina with, though I'll agree Celeray is kinda dogwater.
There really needs to be more insects in the game, the fact we only have Cinnamoth/Bees/Warsect/Menasting is kinda lame. Give me a swarm of tiny bugs as a single pal (stats vary based on current HP), a small earlygame Dragon-type dragonfly, a Ground-type sandworm, a big Electric centipede, and a butterfly with huge fukken wings.
I was thinking it would be kinda neat if Nox slightly increased the SAN regen of sleeping pals

Gorirat gets +200% attack with his ability at 4 stars, making him flat out the strongest ability damager in the game while the effect lasts, even stronger than a maxed out Sweepa which will only get a 104% attack boost. You COULD stack Cremis to bring that attack bonus even higher, but 4 4 star cremis would only bring you from 300% attack total to 380% which probably isn't worth 4 pal slots (even worse when you stack attack traits as well)

Let's see, with perfect IVs a Necromus + 4 Hootcrates (all maxed out) will have 3143 attack (with Lord of the Underworld as 4th trait for max damage). WITHOUT Cremis, a perfect Gorirat will have 3249 attack during berserk. With 4 Cremis it would be 3951
So the numbers are fairly close, but the Necromus needs the 4 buffers while Gorirat can pretty much do without them. Without buffers Necromus only has 2137 attack.
You can actually do more ability damage with a Frostallion while mounted than either of those though.
Frostallion will have 2073 attack by itself, or 3048 with buffers. However, while mounted it gains +100% ice damage. Assuming that stacks additively with Ice Emperor, you are dealing 6706 attack-equivalent in damage, compared to 3899 equivalent with Gorirat. Not even in the same league.

As for dementia, it's partly genetics, but here's a quick rundown of some of the things I figure contributed to it:
1. Fairly early retirement, which isn't good for people if they don't go out and do shit.
2. No hobbies outside of low-tier knitting skills and low-tier painting skills, both of which she quit pretty quick because nobody born after the 80s gives a frick about basic landscape paintings and low-quality hats.
3. Her diet her whole life has been F-tier because she learned the basic shit like "boil potato" and "read instructions from box" and "put leftovers into a pot and boil it and call it 'goulash' for some reason" and that's it. Seriously though, I love cooking and I made actual goulash for once and she got into an argument with me about how "wrong" I was???
4. Never got much exercise, before or after retirement.
5. 95% of her time after retirement was spent watching TV. The other 5% is cleaning the house poorly and throwing leftover food into pots with water until it becomes a sludge.
6. Grew up in a poor household, and got all the hand-me-downs and the leftovers, leaving her with some malnutrition issues as a kid.
7. All that shit starchy garbage foods she cooked, plus an addiction to sweets, chips and potatoes gave her diabetes, which is bad enough to prevent them from actually going anywhere or doing anything.
Serves her right for being a shit cook after doing nothing but cooking for 80 years straight.
I don't mind the elderly, but holy FRICK do you notice shit when you're living with them.
She could barely cook at all, even before the dementia, and thanks to being raised in a culture of "men work, women cook", my grandpa doesn't know jack SHIT about cooking.

Watering crops is a 1 in a while action, it doesn't occupy all of its time, meanwhile Digtoise cannot help growing its own crops.
You got 4 Dumuds mining, when watering is needed they all go and finish the job immediately, then continue mining/carrying.
You get 4 digtoises, then you need to add more water types to water the crops and more carries.
If I want to go with higher mining abilities, I'll just catch/breed Anubis or get Reptyro, who can also work the furnace the ore will be used in.
Dumud and Tombat are the true goats, having at least 2 of each in any mining settlement ensures great automation.

Absolutely not, single traits kill efficiency: Anubis being able to carry ores, for example, ensures that having 4-5 of them not only clear all the coal/ore deposits but that they won't stay idle and clean up and do other jobs.
Too much variety does kill efficiency but handiwork, watering, kindling, planting and carrying are always useful abilities.
Watering/Planting/Kindling is always useful because it's a 1 task you do every now and then or in the case of kindling, something that must be done either with high kindling or by the best unit that can.
Handiwork/Carrying are things that always need to be done in a base for proper maintenance and flow of things.
Logging and mining meanwhile depend upon the base, as the pals may end up fixating over quarries or cutting random trees, clogging up the work for the carriers and ignoring other jobs.

If a base is not self sufficient then it's a shitty base.
At best I carry already finished ingots towards the main base to produce stuff en-masse, otherwise each of my base is self sufficient without needing me to be a slave in return.

The only saving grace is its passive, which I could see people actually making use of. But I imagine the majority of people just use helzephyr and frostallian noct for dark damage instead.
I used it for a long time from the start of the game. Cute looks, and decent in combat. But yeah, there's LOT of cool dark pals, so he doesn't really stand a chance.
On the other hand, I feel like there isn't enough cool Grass and Normal type.
Nox is too hard to find. The only time I manage to find one is from a dark trader. And I normally spend my time at night running around and trying to find it.
I found all of mine from caves, they're a moderately common spawn there even in the lower level ones.

Game needs to allow you to adjust Pal movement in combat via a tactics options. For example a setting to make your pal run away from the enemy or circle it. One to stay close to the enemy or tamer.

burn doesn't do that much damage, just debuff them when they're at like 15% HP and start spamming balls, if you do it right it only ticks burn damage once per time they break out the ball before they're back in another, you'll catch it before it dies or the burn wears off if you keep failing
Try ice status from pals? Wet status still applies a catch rate increase. What other statuses exist for you to use?

So what's the best watering pal? I don't mind going for a 4 star pal or two, but I'm over Jormuntide and Suzaku Aqua. My farming base also has three breeding pens and two ranches, so I'm in need of pals that can do their jobs efficiently and not get stuck.

Water got fricked over. You either use small low level water pals, or elp. Every other water pal are too big, too annoying, or is a flyer. Ganna wait until the +70 pal addition update and see if there a useful mid-size water pals or a bipedal waifumon
Penking is cool as frick, but yeah, I do kind of agree. I've been using Suzaku Aqua myself. Jormuntide looks cool, and doubles as a dragon, but big pals are really awkward in movement sometimes.

Loupmoon is a good battle buddy, and it doesn’t really fall off, there are just stronger endgame dark pals for combat. I put four stars on mine and gave it some high-end skill fruits, and it tears shit up. I just like pals with the more active skills, it’s nice being able to manually tell them to do something and see them kill shit.

Assault rifle needs refined metal, also you can turn some coal into fiber. Basically you need both refined metal and palmetal.
Coal is needed for Refined Ingot and youre going to need lots of it. Don't use it to make charcoal, that is what wood is for.

The first couple levels is usually the hardest because you're by yourself and you're doing all the work. Its only when your base becomes automated when you're free from doing the heavy lifting.
I like the early game more than any lategame when it comes to survival sims.
Something about being forced to craft by yourself is more appealing to me than fully automated bases. If I wanted a factory line I'd play Factorio. The game just feels souless when I don't have to go out of my way to get anything and I'm just farming specific bosses/dungeons for rare drops

Gonna be honest here. Most of the obvious waifu pals have top-tier designs, but a lot of the designated husbando pals look like absolute shit. Incineram is the only few decent ones with an all-around solid design. They need to go back to the drawing board and redesign some of their pals for sure. It also doesn't help that there's a frickton of shameless recycling going on with model assets. Pic-related is one obvious example. Literally recycling eikthydeer's horns. Depresso and Cawgnito also share the same tails as well, Wumpo botan and lyleen the same flowers, among other things.
And forgot the fricking pic. Same horns, its definitely a sign of rushed or lazy asset-recycling. Which is weird when Pocketpair put so much effort into their animations.
I mean, it's a pallet swap in a game that's already copping a shit ton of ideas from other games.
