I haven't heard of Balatro until today, torrented it, played a couple runs, what the frick that shit is like crack. I wanna buy it but I hate that they have a couple achievements that would literally take thousands of hours to get. Stupid reason to get annoyed at but for an indie 15 dollar game to have an achievement as absurd as Completionist++ is wild.
You don't literally complete every game in your library 100%, do you? You could just accept that you'll never get some achievements.
sure but I like to 100% games that don't take an insane amount of hours to beat and you can essentially carry over little bits of progression to make each subsequent playthrough more fun. For example RE4 Remake first playthrough on standard took me about 18-20 hours, getting every achievement took me like 6 more runs and rounded up at about 50 hours. I think this is fairly reasonable for such a game. Hell, you could get all achievements on Baldur's Gate 3 in like two-three runs if you save scummed a bit. But this is the type of game that's gonna take thousands of hours despite an average playthrough being about an hour long.
I'm starting to think palworld really did bot their players count, because it hasn't dropped below a certain number despite every one running out of shit to do weeks ago
I think its more that you can go to bed/AFK with the game running and your pals continue to collect resources

ESG funds are out of money, AAA must sell same amount of games for more to survive(and a lot more, 70$ is just a start, 120$ is a target), otherwise they will be back to "game is shit -> studio dies" routine and their games are shit. And they can't change their games to not shit because studios are populated with weak personel. The originators, ideas people are either gone or leftoided themselves and claim their games were "always woke"(forgetting that back then they had to be subtle and logical with their ideas and spamming nags and trannies would rip their game instantly). The developers that worked hard to make game run properly are long gone, the ones that stayed don't care about performance anymore, because clean code turned from a good practice that aimed to make code readable to "scaling = good, everything else = bad". New hires are half-infested with DEI quotas, the other half doesn't have people they could get knowledge from and are always pushed to do scalable code rather than optimised. With layoffs targeting management and DEI hires situation is going to get somewhat better, but you can't cancel all the damage done to industry over 10 years with 1 year of layoffs.
I'm not choosing cheaper games. Im choosing better games. Its just a coincidence that the cheaper games are also better.

Yea alot of the budget for AAA probably goes into models, cinematics and marketing but if it all went into gameplay it would probably be a hit
