What gets carried over if you import a save from 1 to 2?
I forgot the patapon games did this, I remember I imported a save from the patapon 2 demo to the full game once I bought it and got this hair helmet thing.
I remember that fight being a pain in the ass, don't know how I beat it but I remember it taking hours.

The vast majority of the equipment you gained with few exceptions including the demo spear, but I can't remember if you get the immediately or you have to do a stage to get them back.
A massive amount of materials that you had in your inventory.
If you're on PSP you should also play it in the order of >Demo 1 >1 >Demo 2 >2 >3
I don't think 3 carries over anything but does give you an exclusive equip, and then there's the DLC helmets.

Having PvP meant Toripons would've been much harder to balance, so the devs just didn't bother and took them out.

I'm emulating it on a psvita so the lag isn't too bad. The herogate missions are a real pain but they're manageable.
