I mean I have a cousin who did all that and he's always played video games. My aunt and uncle were just very adamant about limiting the time he was able to do so during his teenage years and they forced him to do other stuff. I think that's the key to creating a healthy well-adapted adult while still allowing them to partake in passive hobbies the enjoy during their formative years.
My parents on the other hand just locked me in a room and told me to not bother them. They didn't really care what I was doing or how I was developing, so video games it was.
