We recruited a pink/gold XIV parser in 9.0. He ended up destroying the guild because he quit after we got CE in CN and almost half of our roster followed him to XIV. I didn't even know that he was somehow in every M+ clique in the guild at the same time. I went too after a month of coping. Overall, 10/10 player though, carried the lantern on Shriekwing, took the hardest seed on Xy'mox, and did our DPS calls on Council and SLG.

Took more effort to play, TP being a thing by itself raised the skill ceiling by quite a bit. Tank stances were also a thing, MP management played more of a role. SHB started the current homogenisation cancer which lead to all jobs in a role feeling incredibly samey in EW, I personally don't like it but I don't disagree that some changes had to be made.

there was weird edge cases like PIE BLM for an extra F4 but otherwise everyone still just stacked the exact same substats
HW materia was the only thing slightly different, healers would have to meld accuracy to hit bosses in higher end content because they weren't accuracy capped by default and you needed to meld vit. if you were progging with a lower ilvl
TP management was trivialized in SB, though.

Here is the problem. The content in patches is too monotonous. It is always the fricking same. Trials, raid tiers and that's pretty much it. You can beat the entire patch content for most patches in a single day, or a week tops. The "you make your own endgame" shit works only for so many years until people actually farmed a handful of relic weapons, decorated their house 10 times over and got all the mounts they wanted. Look at fricking PoE with their seasonal shit or look at what a wow patch usually has. FF almost never gets new zones, and if it does it's shit like bozja or eureka which we didn't even get this expansion.

In Endwalker half of those people are no longer even subbed and a quarter of them login just to do MSQ. I like XIV but the biggest issue, with most current MMOs really, is the overworld being completely irrelevant. There's just nothing to do, I don't know why there aren't systems for overworld content that provide a progression option for people to engage with.

Just how it is. Race matters, gender matters, and age matters. And all of them can be potential requirements for your gear. But you can also change gender and age freely so it's not a big deal, just built into the rebirth system. Changing race is impossible and it's also the largest factor in what you can do. Elfs, Humans, and Giants can all use different weapons, get different transformations, wear different gear, and gain different skills. They all play entirely unique.

Every time theres new content i try playing SMN instead of BLM since its easier when you don't know a fight but immediately go back to BLM even if i have to end up constantly shitting the bed. SMN is so unbearably fricking boring to play.

They had something intresting with it but since they just can't fricking let go of their old dungeon design of "Corridors into corridors into circular arena" they are never actually going to create any good content with it and it will always just end up being "follow this corridor and click on random trash on the ground until you get to the end that you want" with very little actual puzzle solving involved

Anon, one of the worst aspects of DMC5 was its absolutely shit level design. Playable areas plays a huge role in gameplay but devs always try to weasle out of it since it isn't straight forward on how to achive "good" level design
i recall people saying they were glad DMC5 didn't have "THAT level" that drags the whole game down like 4's spinner puzzles or 3's huge floating platforms column
nobody actually wants dungeons more complex than that, they say they do and then they run the complex dungeons and then they're either complaining it's too complicated for repeatable content or they're speedrunning the most efficient straight line through it and all that complexity is left by the wayside
That is just a cope that A LOT of MMO designers use to gaslight players into allowing devs to do less work.
This shit is obviously designed as singleplayer content but with Coop thrown in to please friend groups as an afterthought, it's only MMOs that ever get away with making shit LESS COMPLEX as time goes one while if any other game on the market did it, the devs would be strung up by their entrails outside their offices.
This isn't to say that they should overdesign everything in the game like what happened in WoW, but that there is a middleground to be struck here

Yes, because mods modify the game files and the only reason they aren't autobanned by the anticheat is because it's not programmed to check said files. All they have to do is update the client with new anticheat that encompasses mods and boom, the scene is dead overnight.
