If they're poorly implemented, bloated beyond reason, also impossible to avoid like ship combat in PoE 2: Deadfire. Josh Sawyer regrets the amount of dev time they spent of something universally reviled after release and wished they had cut that entire system early on. I like kingdom management in Pathfinder.

This is true. I fricking failed the Varnhold Quest for finding the dude's lost brother because I did the main quest TOO early. I rushed the MQ, thinking I'd still have 100+ days to myself like my quest journal said, so imagine my surprise, when upon coming completing Varnhold, the quest instantly failed, all of my "free time" disappeared, and I was pushed into the Aldori-Barbarian conflict. Unbelievable bullshit. Don't tell me I have "x" amount of time and then fricking take that time away from me.

I personally used the Kingdom Resolution mod to make all events instantly succeed, and only take one day to complete.
I still had to burn days training advisors, claiming land, and ranking up stats, but I had a lot more time fo myself, which greatly increased my enjoyment of the game

If you romance her, she could get territorial and downright capable of murder, which she could actually carry out. Instead of finding her murdering some literal who, you could find her standing over a body of a some cute girl who spoke to the KC a few times over the course the campaign.
There would be only one murder, max. two murders. How you handle that reality and whenever you try to stabilize Cam or lead her to becoming a psycho yandere would change her ending and how the romance pans out.
She's just too plain as a murderhobo and their entire "reveal" of her being evil can be seen from miles away.
If she was to start as CG, N, or CN and suddenly jump to CE after such a traumatic event, that would make for a far better narrative.

This is wrong. There are lots of evidences that suggest otherwise and with all sorts of abyss creatures, not just demons. Isn't it curious that interplanar crossbreeding is possible despite the huge ancestry gap between species across the planes? Normally crossbreeding between creatures from the same plane is easily stopped due to a bit of genetic, physical or distant ancestry blockade, but we have live examples of things like qlippoths and succubi succesfully breeding true with humanoids from another world entirely!

Daeran has many venues of dealing constant unblockable damage, good for clearing undead, buffs and healing, other characters are better at dealing damage (Nenio, Ember) or buffing (Sosiel, Camelia) but they end up lacking in either damage or utility. Daeran brings a loaded kit on his own that is hard to dismiss him entirely and can fit on almost any team

How do you build one of those dodge tank Sword Saints? Heavy armor tanks really fall off after the middle of the campaign
There's three ingredients to dodge sauce.
One is a scaled fist dip to get cha to ac and qualify for crane style.
Two is nature oracle dip to acquire nature's whispers to get cha to ac again. You can skip this if you're doing a morph build like getting dragonkind.
Three is archmage armor, because for some reason the only way to get mythic rank to ac is a single arcane spell, and owlcat haven't simply added mythic armor specialization or some equivalent.
Then you just crank cha using every boost you can find, including court poet.
Something to note is that if you ever get caught flat footed, you explode. So win initiative, get the surprise round, or use foresight or something like it.
So why are Sword Saint dodge builds so popular for the toughest content? Why CHA and not WIS?
Because endgame enemies on high difficulties have like 60 attack bonus, and you can't get your ac to 80 any other way.

Whether you go scaled fist or any other monk variant is down to whether you prefer cha or wis as a secondary stat (whether you prefer better demoralisation or saves pretty much).

Pretty much any frontliner can be made to work if you stack cha as high as possible and then have adequate strength which is then boosted through buffs.

Dex and str sword saints are both perfectly fine up to hard. You lose out on a couple of feats and a grand total of like +6 str from legendary proportions. In return you don't need to both with an oracle dip, you've got a higher initiative and a higher reflex save.
Unfair builds have really warped people's minds about what's necessary in this game.
I'm not playing on Unfair, but I do want to try a Sword Saint as my primary tank. So far my tanks have been basic heavy armored Fighters/Paladins, or Cavaliers where the mount soaks up damage.

Yeah, I figured. In which case there's no need to worry about stacking charisma multiple times like that anon suggested.
Dipping a level in monk isn't necessary either tbh but I recommend it. It gives you a second mental stat to AC and with how generous the game is with headbands that boost two mental stats that's a pretty good deal. It also gives you improved unarmed strike and either dodge or crane style as bonus feats. The crane style feat chain is pretty crucial for a dodge tank, by the end of the chain it essentially lets you trade -1 attack bonus for +7 AC when fighting defensively. If you don't want to dip monk then there's a background that gives improved unarmed strike. Remember to get at least 3 ranks in mobility for the extra +1 AC.
Grab archmage armour early.
Dex builds can't wield polearms and don't benefit from size-boosting spells as much as str builds so you may want to pick up the lunge feat.

That's one of the two downsides of a dex build. You're down a minimum of 1 feat for weapon finesse and a couple more (or a mythic feat) for fencing grace/slashing grace/mythic weapon finesse. The other downside being you can't get a size bonus to dex using enlarge person/legendary proportions/frightful aspect.
In return your attack/damage/AC/reflex save/initiative all key off a single stat.

Sword saint already has int to ac, there's no point going Oracle. Monk dip still works just to get crane style but isn't 100% necessary. I played kingmaker on hard as sword saint with no dip and it worked great.
Wow, Owlcat are so shit they allow adding a stat twice. Doesn't function that way in tabletop, nor should any GM allow it. For all Paizo's moronation and mind-boggling rulings they'd sometimes errata things correctly.
I guess for Wrath's mythic frickery though it might be ok.

The perfect pathfinder game would be a short campaign with lots of replayability so you could experience all the build autism the game has to offer. These games always start strong and then become a total slog by the end so owlcat would probably benefit from making a shorter game.

How much of this game can you go through without combat? I made a very non-combat bard character as my first for some reason and I'm not sure how much combat can either be left to companions, or avoided entirely.
You can skip a lot if you play solo and go invis/stealth but that's probably not what you mean, the game is very combat heavy but you can rely on your companions to do everything for you, there's almost no solo fights I can think of, I went bard Trickster and was useless for 80% of the game

I like character planning and the story but goddamn the combat is so fricking boring because they toss you a lot of pokemon mob battles and they always take too fricking long because everyone has crazy AC, plus the asinine balancing of random encounters and practically no loot from them.
I'm genuinely considering just puttin on story mode difficulty just to see the end but then i would waste the mental work for my builds.

Hard, this is my first crpg but i've played DnD, tried normal and it's the same.
AC changes by difficulty, I think normal is a +6 or something, no clue how high Hard must be. It's bullshit really, putting an enemy in front of you that requires a nat20 simply to hit and giving them a frickton of buffs is just bad design. And it's always stacked against you. I'm in the prologue and Seelah has a +2 attack bonus and a cultist has +5 meaning he hits every attack and me, Seelah and Cam risk missing all three of us each round and that's with flanking +2.

Seelah has a low attack bonus meaning she needs to roll high to hit the cultist's bloated AC. The cultist has a high attack bonus meaning he doesn't need to roll high to hit Seelah's non-bloated AC.
Your seelah should have at least 20 AC in the prologue, so the cultist having +5 attack bonus means he will hit her about 25% of the time, which is hardly "hits every attack"
I never said the cultist only has +5, he obviously has other things too.
If you're not on Hard then Seelah should have higher attack and AC than the cultists, she should be at +6 attack by default from Strength and BAB

Go normal, and check all the buffs available to you: anything that raises attack (separate from "damage") is important, since that's what gets you through AC, spellcasters can target "touch AC" which is usually lower on enemies, and spellcasters can cast stuff like Grease, which has been a godsend since Kingmaker.
Still, normal is plenty difficult when you're new.
Start stacking buffs. Im on normal and so far every fight has been a breeze

I'm not saying there can't be a ring that could make you harder to hit, e.g. blurring/mirroring you in combat automatically and thus making it harder to hit you, or a """magical ring""" that makes you appear more appealing/irresistible. Even a bell that for some reason makes you more dexterous would be fine I guess even though it'd make little sense as how dexterous a person is is not that simple that it could be affected by a belt, no matter what kind of magic you have, but whatever.
Also such items are hardly special as they are literally everywhere in the world. Everyone and the last street urchin behind the block in sewers should have them.

If it was purely gameplay focused game I wouldn't give a shit about it. But it's a narrative heavy game with a complex lore intertwined into it. You can't expect people to not question stuff in a universe which one should take seriously (most of the time at least).

Ring of Protection +X is literally sold by most vendors in the world. If it's a magic item that actually makes you harder to hit then most soldiers would have it.
You can argue that it's actually a rare item and it's only common for the player, but then I'll call it a bad game design because the game shouldn't be balanced around you equipping your whole party with items which are supposed to be rare.
I mean the reason you find so many is that they're being equipped by regular enemies in the first place and you really are autistic if you think this is meant to be some realistic simulation, who the frick doesn't want to equip as many different items as possible in an RPG

Problem with DnD and most magic worlds is that they feel like they were written and designed by children who pretend to be strong wizard and dashing knights with powerful artifacts and superb armor that do everything while each kid tries to one up one another.
Take that, multiply it a hundred times over a period of +10 years and you got yourself most tabletop/DnD settings.
As someone who hasn't played DnD or the Tabletop Pathfinder game, I can see the logic behind it with the whole flatfooted and touch attacks, but it comes across as poorly balanced. I think armour should give more AC than it currently does
I'm fine with touch since it's usually magic like Frigid Touch should obviously counter armor since metal gets cold too but a naked guy waving his hands around winning against a knight in heavy armor with a tower shield just rubs me the wrong way. The knight is clearly devoted to not taking/tanking damage and isn't good for anything else while the monk/naked guy can tank, do damage and a million other things. In fact if you go tower shield and stack +con it's detrimental because it nukes your attack rolls making you almost completely worthless as a character.
That's mainly only in a 1v1 setting. If a dodge focused character gets caught with low initiative, or in a 2v1 they usually explode. I think the real issue comes from a dodge focused character shouldn't be able to stack regular AC higher than the best armour in the game, to the point wearing said armour would give them worse AC due to the dex (dodge? I's been a while I can't remember the terms) debuff on armour.

Yeah, I completely agree. Magic items hardly feel magical when you're buying them by the bucket load.
That's all nice and fine, the problem in DnD games and that you meet all kind of adventurous parties that for some reason have mostly just magic armor, ring and maybe one or two other magical items. Only yours and truly yours party in the world was able to collect all kind of magical artifacts ensuring your victory. From world building point it is pretty jarring. Not that I think of it. This is pretty much case in all RPGs and the only enemy that was using the entire arsenal to kill you was Ebony Warrior from fricking Skyrim and the guy was super special late game encounter.
Game structure is the real issue. You can die incredibly easy in the older DnD and Pathfinder games, but you can load a save undoing your death. So while the "canon" playthrough is your party murdering an entire country's worth of enemies, the reality is 90% of the player based died on the first non-tutorial encounter. You collect a trove of magical bullshit, because every time you die, you just reload until you win and take the enemies stuff.
Really wish you could get to enjoy your final transformation for more than 3 hours of content

No, you can use the time limits fully to level the party and do quests. A lot of the character quests are worth it. Especially Jubilost, Nok-Nok and Harrim.

If you go down the lich mythic path then you can animate your enemies as semi-permanent minions (permanent duration but won't follow across area transitions) that retain the same stats they had when they were alive (probably higher with your undead-enhancing lich aura). Use it on some of the optional minibosses and your reanimated dragon or named demon can probably roll the rest of the map for you.
You're limited by the number of spell slots you have.
You can also use animate dead to summon a handful of skellies at once but even with your enhancement aura they're a speedbump at best.
Check out CRPG Bro's summoner build for summons that will actually help in a fight. He goes into his typical animal companion autism but it's kind of fitting for a summoner so you could stick with it in this case.
His guides are pretty good, but holy frick is he annoying with his shitty dogs and wolfs, yes homosexual, i know they're great, but i dont want them in every fricking build

This Scorched Earth tailwind run has been pretty fun except when there's an island with Arcane Underflow, then its a chore. At least I can nuke shit with Divine spells.

Yeah, two casters a Divine with Ascended Fire, and an Elemental Witch with Ascended Ice and Lightning. This made me realize the free elemental jolt Elemental Witch gets isn't nearly as useless as I thought. For one it's an ability, so it doesn't trigger anything caster, or arcane related. Its a free elemental Scorching Ray, my only problem with it is you can't get it as a Swift or Free action with Sorcerous Reflex since its an ability.
how is the roguelike mode?
pretty good, though after my first 5 or so runs the islands are starting to feel very samey, the encounters stay pretty difficult even with a higher level party. The bosses are ridiculous. Its my preferred way of playing the game.

speaking of Cavaliers, what can I multiclass my Beast Rider into? Like 20 straight levels of Beast Rider doesn't seem efficient. Been thinking maybe that Monk archetype for mounted characters
I just finished a sohei/sorcerer/eldritch knight legend playthrough and it was great. Would definitely recommend.
With hindsight though I think mad dog barbarian might be better. Pick the animal totem rage powers and at level 12 you get pounce. That's at least three attacks on the charge, all of which can benefit from spirited charge, longspear damage multiplier, mythic charge, etc.

Vital strike and vital force are a massive damage bonus at lower levels, iirc you can do 7d6 damage with a greatsword from level 1. Once you pick up cleaving finish anything within reach just explodes.

I just enjoy control casters. Being able to cast one spell and completely change the course of an encounter is fun. You also need to think a bit more than when playing martials, make sure you've picked the right spell and cast it at the right spot and shit.
I recommend sylvan sorc specifically because the animal companion makes early levels a lot more enjoyable. Rationing spell slots is less irritating when you have a sabretooth tiger mauling the demons for you.
Shifter if you got the dlc, strongly tuned and you can just take the gear "intended"for ulbrig. Ulbrig himself is solid because of overpowered pounce +charge.
Paladin is obviously good at killing demons.
In fact pretty much any martial if you go trickster.
Those trickster crit feats looked insane but I was veered away from it because story wise it's not that goof for a forst playthrough.

She might be archetypal as it gets, but her archetype is pretty rare, so I see no problem with it.
She's over 100 and is tall enough to not be even perceived as a child, and yet for some strange reason they passed on the option on giving her a romance, which is a waste.

there are not time sensitive quests, only if you want Ascension ending or you want the Queen to suck you off if you take Drezen in less than 3 weeks with not a lot of casualties. There's a quest in Leper smile, when you need to pick between soliders and equipment, but that's about it. To advance the story you need to do the important mission, from taking Drezen, Ivory Sanctum, assault on Fane, etc those will advance the story and if you didn't finished some X quest, they will fail, especially companions quests.
Act 1 has an imminent attack on the tavern that takes like 3 days, and you can miss some things like mythic paths or companions if you don't get them before the attack
Leper's smile in act 2 has a "time" limit which isn't a time limit actually you can take all the time you want, but you can't loot things because if you do you lose morale
Iz in act 5 has a choice between three objectives, you pick one and sacrifice the other two, there are ways of getting two of three or even all three though
Also retaking Drezen has a time limit, but all it does is affect Galfrey's reward at the end of the act, and it's pretty much impossible to fail unless you spam rest after every fight
