Nothing new. The tried to pull the same shit with Forbidden West but had to backtrack. They said only that one time so they kept their word in being greedy buttholes
I guess the PS5 version runs better, probably has a 60fps performance mode or something. So if you still bought the inferior PS4 version even though you have a PS5, you can pay to upgrade to the better version.
Nothing new. Standard practice to be honest. They might backtrack on this like they did with Horizon but maybe not. God of Walk fans are moronic enough that it might work this time.
The two consoles were too different and that is just one game.

Physical console games never gave you a digital code. How exactly you expect upgrading a WiiU disc to a Switch memory card? Unless the company offers to take your discs in and giving you a digital code in return (which no console company ever did) there is no solution even if they wanted to.
Meanwhile PS4-5 and Xbox One/Series is essentially the same ecosystem with the same games.

How are they so different? This isn't the 90s where everything is written in ASM/C and platform specific graphics code, today we use C++ and cross-platform graphics APIs and the compiler do all the heavy lifting

How do you exactly want Nintendo to validate your WiiU disc in your Switch?

I understand the disc/cart thing and that's a reasonable limitation, but at the very least if you digitally bought a game on Wii U you could be credited the digital remaster on Switch. But Nintendo doesn't do that out of greed. I'd have a very different tone about the lack of physical game upgrades if Nintendo was at least trying to give upgrades to digital owners, but they aren't even doing that

Yeah, sounds like that's Nintendo's fault for having ancient digital infrastructure. Remember a few years ago when we found out that Splatoon 2 has Windows 98 code? Fricking kek. People would STILL be shitposting about that today if Sony did something like that.

People still make fun of Sony for the PS3 PSN hack that took down the network for an entire month and leaked credit card info and usernames that were stored in plaintext files
>Standard practice to be honest
Where? No other company is doing this. They'd do a remaster or a port years down the line to sell you the game again but no one ever asked for more money on release date to get better graphics. I thought the whole point of backwards compatibility was to avoid exactly this situation but I guess Sony didn't plan to release every single one of their big titles on PS4 as well. Still, not standard practice, just Sony taking advantage of its moronic fans.
It doesn't matter for us Sonybros, unlike Xbox shitters we have loads of spare cash lying around so we're perfectly happy to give some of it to our favorite game devs to help support them.
If I buy a game on Wii U and it gets ported to Switch, I don't get the switch version for free. I don't see how this is any different. Seems like Ganker just wants to whine about sony again
>It's not a standard practice
Xbox does it, and PC does it (you don't have to pay for new graphics options added in updates). That's 50% of platforms. It's a standard practice
>noooo you can't just count PC even though it's just as big or bigger than the consoles!

Out of Xbox, Nintendo and Sony, only Xbox does it. So no, it's not a standard practice
I can't fathom why people still use consoles. They companies completely mug their users off and the users seem to love it. Don't they feel any shame for being milked like that?
>let go of the backwards compatibility
The PS5 is backwards compatible, it plays PS4 games. The Switch is the only current console that isn't backwards compatible
Switch, PC and Xbox all can run emulators, but the PS5 can't. PC and Xbox also automatically enhance old games with resolution, framerate and HDR boosts, PS5 does not.
PS5's back compat sucks dick
>Switch, PC and Xbox all can run emulators
Yeah, but the switch emulators only lets you play whatever shitty bargain bin games Nintendo decides to dripfeed to you. PS5 can play all PS4 games
>Yeah, but the switch emulators only lets you play whatever shitty bargain bin games Nintendo decides to dripfeed to you.
I'm not talking about NSO, I mean RetroArch. Switch has hax, Xbox has devmode and PC is PC. But no retroarch for psBlack folk
>Thread about Snoy and having to pay extra on digital games for BC >Whataboutism the wii u a console nobody liked or bought
Yeah it's a religious Snoy of course
There was, but you could only play them in Wii mode which didn't support the gamepad. You had to pay a fee to upgrade to the Wii U VC version with gamepad support

>but you could only play them in Wii mode
Are you sure? Been a while since I turned on my Wii U but I think the entire point of the transfer app was to move the stuff over from virtual Wii mode on the Wii U to the native OS
Also it's sort of a false equivalence because the Wii and Wii U apps provided the exact same performance and emulation accuracy, and the differences boiled down to a few controls being quick accessed on the gamepad instead of through a sub-menu
Just borrow snoy movie games from your local public library. They have everything, it's amazing. Otherwise literally wait a couple years to get it for free. There's no reason to pay for these titles.
Sony charged $10 to people for upgrades back during the PS3 to PS4 gen. The big problem is lack of PS5s leading to more people being aware of it and the fact we are still doing cross gen shit 2 years later.
The people that are ok with this in any way will also tell you PC is "irrelevant", now if only cuckvidia would stop doing the proprietary features shit which is the closest thing to this
Nothing new. The tried to pull the same shit with Forbidden West but had to backtrack. They said only that one time so they kept their word in being greedy buttholes
With Forbidden West they ended up LITERALLY scamming people.
T-these 2 are the same, right?
After upgrading, you can't download the PS4 version to a PS4
this is why digital is super cancer. there's is 3-4 different versions of the SAME EDITION.
I guess the PS5 version runs better, probably has a 60fps performance mode or something. So if you still bought the inferior PS4 version even though you have a PS5, you can pay to upgrade to the better version.

>Standard practice to be honest.
Only Sony and a few scummy publishers like EA does it.
And Nintendo.
Ports years later is not the same.
>I-its not the same!!!!
Cope
It literally isn’t though
>Ports years later
The Wii U and Switch versions of BOTW came out on the same day but you can't upgrade the Wii U version to the switch version.
The two consoles were too different and that is just one game.

No, EA gave you free upgrades on basically all their games, even they aren't that low to charge for graphics options
BF2042 and Fifa is sold separately as far s I know. There is a crossgen bundle of course but that costs more.
All EA sports games during the cross-gen period were eligible for a free upgrade to 9th gen consoles

When did EA do that?

The tried this numerous times. They know the players will get tired of it eventually and just accept it.
It doesn't matter for us Sonybros, unlike Xbox shitters we have loads of spare cash lying around so we're perfectly happy to give some of it to our favorite game devs to help support them.

Xbox gives you free upgrades on all their 1st party games, what is Sony's excuse?
It's not a standard practice. Xbox is the only one who does it.

you defend being ripped off?
PC doesn't count, the idea of generations dont really exist on PC.
Not only that, but MS developes Series games are STILL 60 bucks AND are available day one on gamepass.
Day one gamefly
Remember when they let you play all versions of a game if you bought only one of them?
No
Sly 4, PS All Stars and others. It ended with PS4 when they realized they could charge again.
I can't fathom why people still use consoles. They companies completely mug their users off and the users seem to love it. Don't they feel any shame for being milked like that?
Makes sense, i wouldn't give away a graphical update either, that shit cost money to make.
Yeah imagine if you didn't have to pay extra on PC for changing the resolution.
Meanwhile on PC you can play your old games without having to buy a new console or pay for a port.
How's that sega Saturn emulator coming along? Almost there son?
It's already been great for years, gramps. Get with the time, stop playing with 20 years old emulators.
What does emulation have to do with playing the PC games I own without having to buy them again?
Enjoying those Metal Gear games on your PS5?
You feel kinda bad for console players but they keep eating the shit served to them
Or you can just buy the PS5 version if you have a ps5.
I don’t see why this has to be a problem.
Kek snoys willing to let go of the backwards compatibility just so they can pay extra for the same game
>let go of the backwards compatibility
The PS5 is backwards compatible, it plays PS4 games. The Switch is the only current console that isn't backwards compatible

Oh cool I guess I'll just never play Smash or Mario Kart online again
>he plays Nintendo games online
Lol. Lmao, even.
Not the digital ones which make up for half of the market; you have to pay extra for that and some don't even let you go back and forth
On the Wii U if you bought a Wii VC game that later came to Wii U, you had to pay extra to upgrade it to the Wii U VC version.
>But Nintendo
Everytime

Everytime
>Thread about Snoy and having to pay extra on digital games for BC

Pretty sure there was an app that would transfer all your Wii saves and digital downloads/VC games to your Wii U
There was, but you could only play them in Wii mode which didn't support the gamepad. You had to pay a fee to upgrade to the Wii U VC version with gamepad support

They have to do it because if not everyone would just buy the PS4 version of games at $60 to play it on PS5 instead of paying $70 for the Ps5 version.
I have absolutely zero qualms about paying €10 for double the framerate.
You didn't get PS3 games for free on the PS4 did you? Go suck a dick.
nothing to explain, PS5 games are more expensive than the version running on decade old hardware. are you moronic or what?
Xcucks are coping so hard right now. How's it feel having no games, b***h?
The people that are ok with this in any way will also tell you PC is "irrelevant", now if only cuckvidia would stop doing the proprietary features shit which is the closest thing to this
