Wolf's VA, Ulf Andersson, has been confirmed to be changed for the upcoming game. Nicklas Berglund, who mostly seems to have worked on Swedish dubs of children's shows, is taking over the role. >https://vimeo.com/235307499
Most of the examples of his work he's posted on his website/vimeo are him singing, and he has none where he is speaking in English, but going off of his Swedish speaking voice he doesn't sound bad.
im glad hes pretty much unknown
means he was almost certainly casted based on how close he could sound to ulf
but i guess we dont know untill we get more gameplay
I was disappointed and still am but I’m looking forward to see what he can do. He has some nice singing pipes so hopefully that can translate well to yelling and screaming. If Wolf’s physical appearance is actually different in a bad way I might not even buy the game, but I find it weird how he looks different in that one scene from the trailer where you can see the side of his face (and hair) but in another scene where he’s putting his mask on in-game you can see the hair on the back of his neck is shaved like it is in the first two games.
looks last gen despite being on UE4 which would make it look at least current gen
considering Overkill track record, especially with recent shit echoing crimefest 2015, wait for a year or two until game actually has some content and goes on sale so you dont get nickel and dimed throughout its lifetime
>devs want EOS and steam crossplay >updates payday 2 so it just uses EOS >requires both EOS and Steam to be online to matchmake >update removes distance filters for high ping lobbies since steam had it and epic doesn't >update breaks steam friend invites >update makes coop connection more unstable in general >update breaks a bunch of payday 2 mods >update wipes the side-job progress of ALL FRICKING USERS >devs drop Linux support
unironically looks like they took new PD2 assets and ported them over to UE4 and called it a day. It's like PD2 with a bit of polish and fresh paint, but overall looks VERY similar to how PD2 looks, making it look terrible.
What a absolute fricking shit show, holy fricking shit
I trust that Overkill is currently try to fix the problem, its pretty cringe how the community instantly jumping to conclusion that PD2 is dead and abandoned after this epic crossplay update.
to be fair it was partially the communities fault for the H3H3 shit >makes a joke ethan trailer for april fools >LMAO WOULDNT IT BE FUNNY IF IT WAS REAL ID BY THAT
it is funny how that was at peak awful for overkill though

h3h3 was contractually forced upon them after their impulse decision to do it, by they time they could actually work on it the community had full on turned against it and they couldn't back out.

it shouldnt have been made in the first place
a lot of people dont seem to know about a lot of the extra dumb shit surrounding it like the fact that 50% of the profits went to help ethan's court fees
or the fact that it came with the airbow which was brokenly overpowered since it had really good concealment, was a crossbow (which by default had insane damage) and had a fast reloading clip that held multiple shots
which then got nerfed hard very quickly after people BOUGHT IT WITH MONEY adding more fuel to the fire
that dlc was a shitshow for everyone

>it shouldnt have been made in the first place
No arguments there, they signed a contract on impulse and it bit them in the ass.
overkill also is autistic because of how silent they are. they can't come out and say "shut the frick up you sound moronic" to a moronic autistic 12 year old screeching on the forums. everything has to be coddled for them, noo you can't call that kid moronic
Only some of these things can be solved by overkill. Reminder EOS doesn't have the ability to filter servers according to latency. So now you will be unable to filter servers with above 90 ping for example. This is not something overkill can fix because its EPICS servers being used now instead of steam's.
it sounds easily remedied by showing the ping of the lobby on crime net
11 months ago
Anonymous
That's fricking annoying if they do that because the ping filter is just a more convenient feature. Either way it'll never happen. Epic is too fricking incompetent to make a BASIC FEATURE such as a ping filter like steam so they'll be too fricking incompetent to display ping for lobbies
I mean thats pretty much what people want, Im done with payday 2 but it would be nice to get a somewhat fresh experience with the 3rd one with some fresher graphics
The planned microtransaction bullshit I dont like even if its just $40 at launch
>but it would be nice to get a somewhat fresh experience with the 3rd one
Agreed. I didn't play Payday 1 until later in it's lifespan, and despite how barebones 2 was at launch it was still fun playing before all the power creep and character/difficulty bloat set in.
Feeling bad. Horrible, even. Actually very fricking depressed about it all. Especially about how I can't contain myself and preordered anyway. I know I'll just be disappointed, but I still need my fix. At least I never use anyone other than the original crew and their suits and masks so the microtransactions won't get me. Until they add in actual gameplay stuff in there, then it will, and I'll hate myself for it.
Cautiously optimistic
Starbreeze is full of morons with a terrible track record but payday is their golden goose, they are going under if it bombs so they have an incentive not to frick it up
I heard it has a new engine but can't confirm that
on the other hand i also heard that simon viklund is not doing the OST so thats already a bad omen, right now for me its like a 70% chance that it fricking sucks 20% that it will be a mediocre payday 2.5 that might get better over time and 10% that its actually good
and their tailor packs and weapon packs. did they ever upgrade the base version of payday 2, like all the game characters not clipping through physics or whatever, before slapping on cosmetic paint jobs for money?
The game is not even out they are leaving shit out to sell you again with already planned heists that a nasty way to do business. Its the same game three times and they are milking you this hard
Why would I give a shit about the game after how the last one turned out (unoptimized mess chocked-full of nickle-and-dime DLC)? They burned the bridge with me, but there are countless morons that'll buy anyway because they were addicted to the second one
>loved Payday 1 >go into 2 expecting the same but better >get it for a while >game suddenly takes a giant hard turn towards ancient aliens, skinwalkers, and indiana jones >miss the days when I was just robbing dollar bills and gold bars for a payday
Payday 3 still looks hero shootery, I'd look out for this guys 2nd payday the heist entry. It's Ulf Andersson who was part of making payday 1, who said he wanted to make another one few years back
Cautiously optimistic. PD2 feels terribly dated by now so Im hoping the models, textures, UI and gunplay will be revamped well with the 3rd entry by release. PD2 still somehow has some of the best gun customization in any game so I hope they keep the base and take it even further with things like letting me drop in .300 blk or .458 socom uppers on the AMCAR, change barrel profiles between pencil, A2 government, heavy, etc. but that's wishful thinking. Not autistic, just like guns. PD2 is my 3rd most played game with 700 hours.
You guys have any music (outside of Viklund’s stuff) that remind you of Payday? I honestly think he might have been inspired by the Prodigy for the OST
>no viklund >no wolf >heists in the trailer are small maps again >months away from release but they're already witholding content and shilling it as pre-purchaseable dlc
Payday 2 content is behind 40 paywalls. I already bought the game just to get cucked a few hours in. what gives? I'm sure 3 will have $400 worth of DLC too.
which also means that they spent 4 years releasing DLC out the ass and continued doing so after releasing a legacy edition to make it look less israeli
Looks a bit shit but i can live with that if there's an actual tradeoff for it aka better AI, more interactions, more mechanics, more approaches and escape options, etc. Hope using hostages as shields will actually have a purpose and not just get forgotten about 3 hours in. They also better make stealth fun and give me an actual use for my money. Shame about the even worse DLC system, now you'll be forced to buy all the garbage for 30-40 bucks everytime instead of just getting the heists or guns you want. Also the leaked payday coins.
The only characters I give a frick about are Wolf (above all others), Chains, Dallas, Hoxton, and Jacket (but to a lesser extent). I just want to know about the dynamics of the group and about them personally and shit.
Jacket is weird because payday's take on him is so iconic it has completely defined his character. If you ask someone about Jacket, they'll talk about how he is in Payday before they mention anything from HLM.
its the stupidest, most contrived thing. how the frick does somebody use it, use it ACCURATELY for any given situation, WHILE heisting and shit. gtfo. gayest fricking garbage. the only thing worse was h3h3.
>Payday gameplay >Oh you didn't invest half your skill points into saw skills and bring nothing but a saw and ammo packs? Enjoy picking locks for 30 minutes straight. >Yeah so there's like 50 bags of loot 3 miles from the getaway car and your teammates refuse to leave without grabbing all of them even though money is worthless in this game. >6 gorillion options for builds, everyone only uses like 3 meta ones because otherwise le epic super hard difficulty is impossible >45 minutes into a heist and some RNG bullshit kills you >Where the frick is that crowbar, god damn I've been searching for 20 minutes already and combed every inch of this map

Bro just get some friends
I fricked around like 150 hours with a 21 bullet deagle with an sniper scope and high rof lmgs paired with the perk that makes you not consume ammo after you put an ammo bag
I stopped playing 2 the patch they introduced the Overkill difficulty. At that point, I realized the difference between a fully silent bank job and a loud one was 100% dependent on the RNG placements of rooms and NPCs. That, and the special forces guys that jumps on you from a hallway away and instantly downs you.
Have they made changes that addresses these issues over the years?
>RNG placements of rooms and NPCs
That's what made stealth missions fun though, having to adapt to those changes. The only bullshit RNG I can think of regarding stealth was the random impervious cameras in the Nightclub mission.
I forgot about that. In hindsight I suppose the stealth missions I liked the most were those that you could fully control once you got to a certain point like the small banks or israeliteelry stores.
Hopefully with PD3 players will have more options to help with stealth indirectly like being able to distract guards with gadgets.
Its never going to be realistic because there's no world where cop hordes of 1k+ men are taken down by 4 dudes over a couple thousand dollars worth of israeliteelry.
They fricked the ludonarrative of the last game by adding wacky playable chatacters with stupid voice lines and destroyed the challange of all special enemies by adding big explody weapons dlc. This game so be the same from the get-go.
It has the same reused assets as the last game. It's a cash grab.
Got 200 hours in Raid, it was exactly what I was looking for at the time of its release. Unbalanced and some weapons and classes suffered hard on the higher difficulties, but luckily not too much until the modifiers came into play.

I put about 100 hours into the game and feel about the same way. Raid felt more like Payday 1 in terms of challenge than Payday 2 did at the time, it was nice.

The original devs are gone and all that's left are morons who sold out to Epic. I can't imagine a day would come when I didn't want Payday 3, but it did.
How do you go back to simple ass bank robbing after raising the stakes to amogus aliens level? I mean what the frick is the gang going back to small corner bank robbing for at this point?
right? especially after the GORILLIONS of dollars they made in the process? fricking drop in the bucket to rob corner stores and banks again. why keep risking your life when you're full pardoned and rich beyond reason?
the only thing i can think of is take the fast and furious route, where they get recruited by the government to steal specific items and shit. but even that feels weak, and half of the fun is trying to get your haul as big as possible.
The game is probably not going to be that great but I will buy it anyway. It's still going to be good for ~50+ hours with my buddies so I don't think it's that bad for 40$. Also considering that there's like 0 other games that I care about this year... I really wish they'd keep Jacket or at least add him later
Is the pic from the 3rd game? Can't really tell

thats why the highest difficulty is pretty popular because they will one shot you easily if you really don't try
I cant wait to spend 2000$ worth of DLC again
Game looks exactly the same. Only thing that looks new is you can slide now lol
Can’t wait for more quality content
free game from epic store in a year or so

So is Payday better as a dumb hero shooter with aliens and shit or is it better as a gritty semi-realistic crime action game?
Gritty realistic crime action, with some aliens and demons on halloween
Its never going to be realistic because there's no world where cop hordes of 1k+ men are taken down by 4 dudes over a couple thousand dollars worth of israeliteelry.

BLAMMO
Got 200 hours in Raid, it was exactly what I was looking for at the time of its release. Unbalanced and some weapons and classes suffered hard on the higher difficulties, but luckily not too much until the modifiers came into play.
The marketing was too misleading and reliant on riding Payday's coattails, it should have just been sold as an inglorious basterds simulator, not a WWII payday.
I put about 100 hours into the game and feel about the same way. Raid felt more like Payday 1 in terms of challenge than Payday 2 did at the time, it was nice.
Payday 1 was a nice attempt at a different style of horde mode gameplay.
Payday 2 was empty promises and $900 of dlc
I give zero fricks about 3.
leaked premium currency killed most of my hype, will see how it shapes up before buying.
anyone else think that they nuked pd2 so that the only option for a good payday experience would be to buy 3?
The problem with that tactic is that there's no way to know if they nuked it on purpose or not, and the public will always assume malice rather than incompetence, so doing such a thing would only ever impact PD3 negatively.
I don't care how much I liked the first payday game, I will never play another payday game after I seen they fricking added h3h3 to one of them.
>two other heisters besides the core four will be playable at launch
Place your bets. Original? Returning? One of each?
How popular even was Houston as a Hoxton replacement? Do people even play him at all over Hoxton now that he's back?
I enjoy playing him. Granted I was left with him as my mates played the other three but I never stopped playing him even when more heisters got added.
>Essex
She's in
Can't wait to buy it 2 years after the release, when it gets some good content.
The original devs are gone and all that's left are morons who sold out to Epic. I can't imagine a day would come when I didn't want Payday 3, but it did.
The original devs have been working on Payday 3 for years, which is why they've been completely absent from 2's development.
I hope PD3 is more gritty and less clown show. PD2 went so completely off the rails with shit like the H3H3 characters.

Alright gang, show me your favorite song and heister
I haven't played Payday 2 in years, but at the time it was But Big Bank and Dragan.
It's a tie between Dallas, Scarface and Jacket. As for the song it's Full Force Forward https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwT3mF-k7dQ
Favorite heister is Chains
Favorite song is either Infinite Ammo or Blast Our Way Out
The game is probably not going to be that great but I will buy it anyway. It's still going to be good for ~50+ hours with my buddies so I don't think it's that bad for 40$. Also considering that there's like 0 other games that I care about this year... I really wish they'd keep Jacket or at least add him later
