My father was a computer scientist; highly gifted in his work. I asked him what it would cost to build this today with 256MB of VRAM. I shall never forget his answer.

I have the same CPU... bought it with a 2070 Super like 3 and a half years ago to build a PC as strong or stronger than the next gen consoles... it cost twice the price of a PS5.

Today my PS5 runs Cyberpunk better than my PC.

I am going back to consoles.

Sad as frick. FYI I built my 9700k rig specifically to play Cyberpunk when it came out. I had an RTX 2080 included. This was back when the only 'better' card was the 2080ti.

It's sad that $2000+ hardware struggles to run stuff on high at 60 FPS

You and me both friend... there was very little fuzz going on about ray tracing and I could get 60 fps on Ultra in 1080p no problem... with the 2.0 update my performance went to shit.

Do you have RT switched on? Maybe 2.0 enhanced the game graphically

            No, it is off.

Don't know what happens, I get dips into 50-43 fps whenever I am in an area with a lot of npcs or when I am driving...

Using DF's optimized settings, something close to Medium-High preset, 1440p with DLSS quality.

I don't know, it could be the CPU in my case.

It is ok, I bought it on console after I saw some performance reviews... it runs at 1440p 60fps on the PS5, dips occur on a few heavy areas but it never goes lower than 50 apparently.

Yeah until it overheats from extended use and you have to do a warranty claim or just pay to have it repaired. Never had a single issue with my graphics cards overheating and breaking. The only exception is that one time in 2008 when Nvidia sent out a shitty patch which fricked up the fan on my 8800 GT and broke it.

You can play the game with an I7 9700k and an RTX 2080. Just not max Ray Tracing. DLSS on Performance and mid tier RT will get you at least 40 FPS

Not path traced you moronic frick. Even a 4090 struggles to run it path traced. Run it with regular ray tracing, mixed settings and dlss if you want the PS5 experience.

The Path Tracing setting is literally listed as an experimental. It's not a sensible standard by which to judge current hardware. Even when running at a higher fps on a 4090 there's odd smearing around moving NPCs and faces

      >on a 4090
Funny, even the 4090 can't do 4k @ 60 FPS with Path Tracing and DLAA. Imagine a literal $2,000 card not being able to 100 FPS+ the current games.

PC gaming is mostly second class now. That you can actually do things like work on a pc is its only saving grace.

      Anonymous

So second class that it gets every "exclusive" in existence less than 2 years after they release, either legitimately or via emulation. Meanwhile PS5 doesn't even have VRR for most monitors, themes, a web browser or working headphone drivers. Simply lol. Enjoy your second class experience and 3 month exclusives.

I must ask, do you pay for your sloppy seconds knowing the publishers are just milking their games as they no longer make money on the main platform or do you pirate your sloppy seconds?

works on my 4070 just fine, getting around 70fps usually with a R5 5600x.
