PC gaming sucks

>build a new high end pc to play games in 4k or 120fps
>most new games suck
>the ones that don't suck have constantly issues like screen tearing, stuttering, shader compilation
>old games almost always require tweaking and workarounds
>background applications constantly stop working causing error messages at startup or forget settings and go back to their defaults
>steam is basically a time bomb because once gabe dies/retires it will be a free for all
>emulation can be nice but it takes a lot of set up
>still can't emulate PS2 or ps3 games well

when i play games on my switch i think "i think i'll play this" and then i'll play it. when i play games on my pc i think "i think i'll play this" and 30 minutes later i have 10 tabs open trying to fix some stupid issue and i'm stressing out because i'm wasting my weekend doing tech support shit

Go to BIOS and turn on expo, then turn on core performance boost and precision boost overdrive. After you've done that, go to motherboard manufacturers website and download your graphics card driver from there NOT from AMD's website.

I had this issue last week with a 4090 and 7800x3d. The most likely culprit is the new graphics card driver. I had downloaded the newest NVIDIA driver and GTA V failed to launch, just like your video. I only said to turn on PBO, CPB and EXPO to be sure. It's almost 100% the graphics card driver which, for me, downloading the NVIDIA driver from May that was on my motherboard manufacturers(ASUS) website, fixed.

I hate PC gaming but for different reasons. You basically have to use Windows. You’re literally better off with a console if you don’t. The market also pushed you into using storefronts/services. So your games are all tied to different launchers. You can’t just have your game anymore. You cant own your games physically on PC anymore like the big box days. You okay games within an OS built for labor. Microsoft Office is right there. Your web browser. Pings from pisscord. Your email. Your unfinished work, right there. It’s so cluttered and disgusting to me. I like to compartmentalize different kinds of computing to different machines as opposed to having one machine do everything.

and I game on linux. The only games I cannot play that I have actively tried are Fortnite and Battle for Middle Earth II. Proton has come a long, long way, to where I am comfortable leaving Windows behind now.
      >Microsoft Office is right there. Your web browser. Pings from pisscord. Your email. Your unfinished work, right there. It’s so cluttered and disgusting to me. I like to compartmentalize different kinds of computing to different machines as opposed to having one machine do everything.
Why do you assume this is impossible on PC? You can literally grab a version of Windows 10 LTSC that does not come with a browser, the microsoft store, or any of that shit. I buy primarily from GOG because frick launchers, and if it's not on GOG I don't pay it any mind because I have no shortage of games to play. If you're really autistic, you could just dual boot or set up different users for work and for play.
      If your response is
      >it still FEELS like work though
then don't bother replying, nothing anyone says will get through to you and you're better off with your console.

It's probably more the OLED panel than the actual resolution that's making a big difference for you.

      Anonymous

Yup. And even a 240hz screen is a much more worthwhile investment than resolution higher than 1080p, unless you sit at a viewing distance that's gonna ruin your eyes.

      Anonymous

It gets better once you realize you can just use DSR/VSR and have SSAA in every game. Even 1800p on 1440p display will look much better. It's limited mostly to fullscreen mode. But you can set your desktop resolution higher and it will work in borderless window as well but you will need higher scaling for winblows.

Don't fall for resolution memes, it's all about the panel and features. It's worth going for 4K on a TV with excellent gaming features like an LG tv but otherwise yeah 1440p is better.
High refresh rates makes things run hotter however. It's wierd that it doesn't for you. So again fix airflow and voltages.

I have an AMD card and everything has been fine. Is this a marketing meme by novidia?

lol that's the beauty of pc gaming.

Spend days troubleshooting just to alt+F4 after 15 minutes of boring gameplay and go back to shitposting on Ganker with a $3500 gaming PC. amazing huh.

    >bought AM4, didn't have money for 3600 so got a 3500x
    >should be good enough.mp3
    >fine for most games but warzone and cyberpunk real sluggish
    >don't play much of them but want to tinker
    >oh wow, some indian guys get 4.5 ghz overclocks!
    >interested.jpg
    >try to OC
    >fail
    >think it's the cheapo cooler i bought with the money i had back then
    >buy a 240mm AIO
    >set PBO, limits off, max override +500mhz
    >no change, doesn't even consume 65w
    >try manual OC
    >only boots into Windows at 4.2(100mhz over max stock boost) on 1.38v, cyberpunk hardfreezes
    >mfw i found out I have the worst Ryzen chip in existence and it literally will never work at anything above stock at moronic high voltages

gotta be a shitty one then
anyway look into used market, you can sell 3500x and get a 5600 either new or used, they're cheap as frick now. i upgraded twice from ryzen 2600 to 3600 to 5600 and each time it cost me like $20 after selling my old one.
don't except huge performance boost since you're probably gpu bottlenecked anyway. the best CPU for your platform is 5800x3d

Are you using a 5600x these days? It seems like an amazingly cost-effective CPU.

i know, a 5600 is my next purchase, don't worry guys
i'm actually extra moronic cause my friend was working in a computer store chain and could sell me anything at cost and i just fricking forgot

I just don't like the interface. Wish I could skip past the windows login screen and basically boot directly to steam big picture mode.
Don't like having to lean over coffee table and navigate desktop for games and stuff, just want to grab controller and go as soon as I turn the thing on. I have another PC I use for internet and hobby stuff, I want my gaming PC to just be gaming.

Are you fricked or what anon it's not difficult at all, you download a game off steam and play it, you can change some graphics settings too if you want
Off the top of my head I can think of a handful of old games that need patches but people have made auto patches so you just download them an install them
I am actually convinced that you are a fricking moron, a child can use a switch as they are marketed and made for kids, if you cant work out how to use a PC like any other adult (people use them everyday at office jobs even boomers) you're a frickwit plain an simple

All the GPUs are fricking shit. Do NOT get anything below 16GB of VRAM.
