Shadow Warrior deathmach > Duke Nukem 3D deathmatch

Shadow Warrior in general is better than Duke 3D, it just didn't get as popular because people were butthurt about the racism against chinese (back in the '90s you were considered a backwards redneck if you didn't like China).

Only time I heard SW is racist is the last decade.

I bought physical copies of duke nukem atomic edition and shadow warrior from someone locally and they were changs too. Ive always seen humor like that as playful banter too like its obvious the devs put a lot of love into the game cause they enjoyed kung fu and samurai movies. I really hate the kotaku crowd that have to label everything racist

That was the very first Counter Strike map I played back in 2003 with my friends on a lan games net cafe, good times
Though I always enjoyed Medal of Honor Allied Assault's multiplayer more, it's so underrated, everyone remembers it for the single player campaign.
When I got good internet at home maybe around 2006 I started playing the original Quake online deathmatch and it was a blast, so fast, there's nothing like it, there were still a lot of servers. A lot of the original Team Fortress mod too. The source port I used was called Fuhquake.
I remember one time our history teacher was talking about cold war and invited us to have a history lesson at an internet cafe and we just played 2 hours of Battlefield Vietnam with him. Cool dude.

Yeah SW is the best Build game
Those guns man so fun to use

Age of Empires was pretty fun over LAN. I ruined a friendship by having an alliance, persuading my ally to let me build watchtowers through his territory, then stabbing him in the back.

    Good times

Ive got a multiplayer story about that map actually
    >meet this girl on counter strike server
    >we shit talk each other but she ends up adding me
    >we sort of have this rivalry going on where she tries so hard to prove girls arent shit at games
    >she was actually pretty good for a girl
    >one night we decide to have a 1v1 and I let her pick the map
    >cs_assault
    >my younger brother decides to watch me play
    >things are pretty intense were exchanging rounds back and forth
    >I start to build a lead of a few rounds on her
    >This round she is playing counter terrorist
    >I walk slowly to the main entrance garage door
    >Before I enter I see that long ass m4 and silencer poking down
    >She was hiding beside the shipping container watching the garage door ready to blast me
    >I say to my brother "watch this"
    >walk all the way around to the back door and all the way up to the shipping container
    >omg she can't still be here can she?
    >slowly walk along beside it before turning the corner where she is still focused on the garage door like a laser completely oblivious that Im behind her
    >pull out my knife and backstab the shit out of her
    >me and my brother both stand up and shout OWNED at the same time haha
    >she instantly ragequits starts flipping out in messages calling me a hacker lmao then blocks and deletes me
it was kind of a shame lol it was fun playing with her.

back in tose days it was all about Counter Strike 1.6 and Quake 3 Arena. my brother actually excelled in Quake 3, he waas playing on these servers all the way until a decade ago. Dunno but the server is probably still populated to this day. 10 years ago there were 200-300 poeple playing quake 3 arena on those servers.

We had 3 PCs at my house all wired up with Quake 2. Not the best game of all time, but the ability to download skins for deathmatch was fricking revolutionary for 10 year old kids; Cartman and Stan firing railguns at each other was really as good as it could get for a middle schooler in 1999. Master of Puppets, Life is Peachy, 3 Dollar Bill and a few ICP albums in rotation. Probably the peak white trash experience outside of spiking people's air conditioners to huff freon.

The pic over LAN was fun. Now MP tactical shooters is a banal thing, but back then roaming a map for several minutes, then encountering someone, spraying-and-praying from your cool MP5 with a high capacity mag, hitting nobody and dying by a single shot was fun.
