tough choice man let me know what you pick
>But PC has shitty HDR implementation doesnt it?
Most games on console have a shitty HDR implementation. That's why HDR is still shit after 5+ years of being mainstream. It's a highly technical thing and we all know that when you don't make things as simple as a turnkey solution developers will do the bare minimum and wiener it up >dolby/vesa fighting over standards for years >windows HDR implementation is still not very good >nonexistant on linux, either on X or Wayland >game devs have enough on their plate and couldn't be bothered
Literally don't think about it. Most games look better with HDR off anyway
It's also a simple issue of display technology. The PQ EOTF is an absolute range from zero to 10,000 nits. No display ever made is currently capable of that.
PC is always the right answer. And no, there's no burn in for any somewhat reasonable (even all day ) use since the 2020 LG OLED models; it was basically solved by the CX series unless you intentionally tried to burn it in. Also the LG OLED are pretty much the only OLED TVs that are made to act as monitors if you get at least a 2020 C series or newer (CX 2020 > C1 2021 > C2 2022.), support 4K 120hz, VRR that goes down to very low frequencies FPS, compatible/certified with both FreeSync PremiumPro + Gsync HDR , and have HDR without having to lose VRR, framerate issues, or drop down to 4:2:2 etc.
It mostly comes down to the particular OS and/or game. Windows desktop HDR is shitty, Linux is good. Other than that it varies from game to game.

Maybe. Samsung actually releasing a QD-OLED monitor, not TV, is at least a huge vote of confidence.

Thats because Sony has always had the best processing. Also that OLED has terrible HDR at only 400 NITS. You need your TVs to go way higher than that atleast 600 as the bare minimum. 1000 is the desired amount.
> I was lied to and was told it would stop the stuttering that elden ring ps5 has every half second
You.. you didn't really think that was being caused by the TV did you?
VRR support on a TV helps solve that. As long as it doesn't drop below 48FPS which it never does, it should maintain the smoothness pretty well.

PC or PS5 for playing games on an OLED TV?
Why not both?
PC + PS5 lets you play all modern games. And they both take advantage of 4k120hz/8k60hz
>Also that OLED has terrible HDR at only 400 NITS.
No it doesn't moron. Maxes closer to 800nits, no screen will hold 1000nits at 100% of the screen, the highest nits figures are like 5-10% of the screen peaking, which is what you might actually see in real world media i.e. a site of grace in Elden Ring.

>with oled light on max (which I'm told you should never have it above 70%)
Why are you so moronic? Even professional film colorists recommend HDR content settings using brightness 100%. I use 100% brightness for HDR and %45 for desktop SDR. When I launch a game or movie that is HDR it will automatically switch to 100% brightness HDR mode.
Definitely dont use a PC on an OLED, windows static bullshit will annihilate your display.
I'm doing it right now. There are people with older CX and C9 used on desktop for years with zero image retention or burn in. There's even a guy with 15,000+ hours on a B7 on desktop, and those were the ones that RTings made a big stink about burn in when they did their shitty 24/7 new channel tests years ago. Those panels were much worse for a lot of reasons. Newer screens have different chemical compositions that make them naturally more resistant to burn in.
Don't small screens have less chance of burn in? My Vita still looks perfect to this day.
I would think more chance of burnin because the subpixels are smaller and you are pumping more nits per inch through the OLED. One of the causes of burn in is the heat generated, which is why TVs with heatsyncs are tuned to a higher nits.
Anyways I have an LG C1 on a PC I use around 12+ hours a day mostly desktop and I have all burnin compensation off except logo detection on low; it slightly dims static elements like HUD, but on low it's hardly noticeable, might just ensure HDR doesn't make the hud have more nits than it actually needs. AutoHDR might cause that kind of unintentional HDR.
I'm not worried about burn in. If it happens after 5+ years I will already have gotten my moneys worth and either sell it for cheap and upgrade or put it somewhere else.
Rofl imagine defending that fricking aggressive ABL.
OLED shills are fricking ridiculous. "Perfect blacks" are literally the only thing they care about, being so Black person-obssessed.

What are you talking about? Peak output is 761.94 nits which is just fine. It isn't amazing. 400 NITS is as I said before in the low end. 600 is significantly better. Who wants 760NITS for only 5% of the screen?
If you play any game where the top of the screen shows the sky, it'll tank the overall brightness. Driving games and most open-world/outdoor games will definitely kill the peak brightness during daytime scenes.
I ordered the same one yesterday. Kinda stressed me out to set it up but the more I use it the more I enjoy it. It's still kinda budget so don't expect a highest-end TV, but in general it's very good.
I'll probably have to fiddle with the settings more. Any advice?
well sure it's not. It's by no means cheap, but it's not a high-end TV either and I feel like a lot of people's dissatisfaction comes from expecting a top tier high-end device.
Not that I'm saying it's infallible, the smart TV shit is kinda cancerous.
Kinda disappointed by how I have to degrade my image quality to reduce input lag too but this might be inherent to TVs atm.
What if I’m literally just playing video games on it and as soon as I close out of the game I turn it off and switch back to my regular monitor? I’m not planning on having my damn desktop on for hours on it
this is moronic. there is a guy on yt who kept his switch on for like 4000 hours on a still image and it only has a little bit of burn in. if you're playing games hiding the task bar and doing whatever else it will not burn in lol

Vita 1000 had a high defect rate with those early oled screens. When turned on they look really good, but darker shades and you would notice verticle striping, or even black blobs that looked inkish. Mine had both. You would only ever notice it on loading screens or when the screen showed a dark shade. It kind of put a damper on the "premium" oled feel though.
If you use a oled tv normally the pixel refresh + individual pixel tracking keeps burn in at bay
The screen will get dimmer over long period of time but its not some specific "use x amount of hours and you need a new tv"
C1 is out of production, it's very reasonable to assume this is the price floor. the C2's are up in price per equivalent. The C1 is absolutely gorgeous, if you want one and can afford it without regret it's worth getting, unequivocally
OLED has nothing to do with this. Both platforms can take advantage of OLED.
So PC because consoles suck.
But also I lied and PC has more options to adjust resolution, framerate and make SDR games into HDR games.
>retailers near me no longer stocking C1 >C2 models are considerably more expensive for neglible or worse improvements over cx/c1
Should have bought it back in March/April when I had the chance. Oh well. Might as well wait for a another few years now.
It's not a good idea to trust general couriers with transporting razor thin 55" oled tv's. That and it seems local retailers have already gotten rid of C1 stock and are shilling overpriced C2 stock hard.
>OLED >input lag >motion blur >blue LED's burn out quicker than the red/green ones resulting in colour balance issues >screen uniformity issues >blacks/contrast aren't as good as decade old plasmas
You c**ts will buy anything if it's newer, regardless of quality.
If I’m a console peasant/tendie will I honestly even notice the input lag? Only time I’ve really noticed input lag is in Red Dead 2 or when playing my Deck in 40hz mode
>If I’m a console peasant/tendie will I honestly even notice the input lag?
LG's have some of the fastest response times out of any modern tv. >Only time I’ve really noticed input lag is in Red Dead 2
Red Dead 2 has a lot of inherent input lag due to the way the animation system was designed. This is compounded by the fact that PS4's were awful for input lag on a base level, and then made even worse because they were most likely playing on some shit, laggy tv. Most of the time it's not an issue. But in those instances "laggy" experiences are usually because of compounded reasons.
If the tv comes damaged you get your money back right? Only reason I’m asking really is because I was gonna order mine through the mail.
>If the tv comes damaged you get your money back right? Only reason I’m asking really is because I was gonna order mine through the mail.
Yeah, but it's not worth the hassle and courier rates have generally gone up like everything else. They still through your shit around because they've got places to be no matter how much you pay or slap fragile stickers on things. Best to go and locally pick it up if you can.
>You’re probably right I just don’t know if a 55inch tv will fit in the back on my Honda civic

Everything I posted is valid and all you've done is basically reinstsnt that these are common complaints. So help me fix them so I can agree that they're moronic complaints. Otherwise you're a shill and I'm returning this meme TV.
Thats because Sony has always had the best processing. Also that OLED has terrible HDR at only 400 NITS. You need your TVs to go way higher than that atleast 600 as the bare minimum. 1000 is the desired amount.
VRR support on a TV helps solve that. As long as it doesn't drop below 48FPS which it never does, it should maintain the smoothness pretty well.
I am right now, it's beautiful tbqh
>with oled light on max (which I'm told you should never have it above 70%)
Why are you so moronic? Even professional film colorists recommend HDR content settings using brightness 100%. I use 100% brightness for HDR and %45 for desktop SDR. When I launch a game or movie that is HDR it will automatically switch to 100% brightness HDR mode.
"Perfect blacks" are literally the only thing they care about, being so Black person-obssessed.
jokes on you the new c1 firmware fixed the ABL. it’s amazing now
Prove it.
Post new peaks in HDR.
And then let me laugh in your face.
timestamp around 7:30 I hope you know german, Black person.
it also got dtm pro with the latest update and a better near black performance AND a performance increase for all menus.
>No it doesn't moron. Maxes closer to 800nits, no screen will hold 1000nits at 100% of the screen, the highest nits figures are like 5-10% of the screen peaking, which is what you might actually see in real world media i.e. a site of grace in Elden Ring.
Any advice?
C1 is not a budget tevevision
well sure it's not.
>The tv will make elden ring good
This is quality Ganker
If you play PC games on a TV you might be suffering from some late stage mental disorder.
How you can sit in that cuck corner all day? That’s just pathetic. Are you preparing for the pod life? Does anyone ever visit you?
>using a TV as your PC monitor
>using an OLED TV as your PC monitor
i shiggy diggy
You know burn ins in modern OLEDs are a meme unless you are a moron that leaves the news channel on 24/7?
Definitely dont use a PC on an OLED, windows static bullshit will annihilate your display.
What if I’m literally just playing video games on it and as soon as I close out of the game I turn it off and switch back to my regular monitor? I’m not planning on having my damn desktop on for hours on it
I would not trust myself to not frick it up. If you do then obviously PC is better.
this is moronic. there is a guy on yt who kept his switch on for like 4000 hours on a still image and it only has a little bit of burn in. if you're playing games hiding the task bar and doing whatever else it will not burn in lol
>4000 hours
that's less than one year of use
way to ignore everything else dumbass
4k hours is negligible use
and it burned in
have a nice day
>have a nice day
I don't feel suicidal since I didn't waste my money on disposable technology that lasts 1-2years max with regular use
>its a poorgay moron coping
shouldve figured. tie that noose
so you admit you're trying to shill a monitor/tv that you will have to either replace or deal with permanent burn-in after 1-2years of use?
>replace or deal with permanent burn-in after 1-2years of use?
Every fricking time. The same argument of "the tv degrades into a complete dim mess in under two years" which is just wrong. Frick off.
>give a reason why burn in wouldnt occur
>this brown 3rd worlder only focuses on the hours and nothing else
>SO YOU ADMIT YOU'RE A SHILL? HURR DURR
have a nice day Jose.
Don't small screens have less chance of burn in? My Vita still looks perfect to this day.
Is the 799 price pretty common? Do we think it will be cheaper soon?
C1 is out of production, it's very reasonable to assume this is the price floor. the C2's are up in price per equivalent. The C1 is absolutely gorgeous, if you want one and can afford it without regret it's worth getting, unequivocally
>Not having a 10m HDMI 2.1 cable from PC to TV to use it as a secondary/tertiary display with wireless controller
Do you even comfy
>there are people that are so ignorant that they INSIST that you can't do this and that somehow justifies the existence of consoles still
I literally have both. Why not both?
ps5, it reads blurays
OLED has nothing to do with this. Both platforms can take advantage of OLED.
So PC because consoles suck.
But also I lied and PC has more options to adjust resolution, framerate and make SDR games into HDR games.
>retailers near me no longer stocking C1
>C2 models are considerably more expensive for neglible or worse improvements over cx/c1
Should have bought it back in March/April when I had the chance. Oh well. Might as well wait for a another few years now.
Why not just order it through the mail?
It's not a good idea to trust general couriers with transporting razor thin 55" oled tv's. That and it seems local retailers have already gotten rid of C1 stock and are shilling overpriced C2 stock hard.
If the tv comes damaged you get your money back right? Only reason I’m asking really is because I was gonna order mine through the mail.
>PS5
>games
>OLED
>input lag
>motion blur
>blue LED's burn out quicker than the red/green ones resulting in colour balance issues
>screen uniformity issues
>blacks/contrast aren't as good as decade old plasmas
You c**ts will buy anything if it's newer, regardless of quality.
Wrong. I have a 65" Panasonic VT series plasma, an LG C8 55", and an LG C1 48". Both LGs absolutely shit on my plasma
not to mention input delay on OLEDs are better or equal to most high end monitors. We are talking sub 5ms.
>You’re probably right I just don’t know if a 55inch tv will fit in the back on my Honda civic
If the store offers some kind of delivery service you're fine to use that.
>mfw I have a PC, Series X and PS5 connected to my 48" OLED
Any way I can get a 48 inch c1 from Best Buy? It says they're not selling them anymore.
Imagine being moronic enough to buy an oled
