Honestly I go back and forth. The dungeons are longer and more monotonous, combat is less interesting than 5, and party members won't level up automatically in the background. Sometimes the game won't give you much direction beyond go talk to every npc in town, and then go talk to them all again the next day. But the story is solid and the main cast is all very good. If you like Persona 5 for the characters I'd say it's worth playing 4. If you like it for the uniquely striking dungeons and surprisingly varied combat, then I wouldn't recommend it.
The battle cut-in looks fine but, the other two look like shit. They should've just stuck with the more organized menus and formatting of the original instead of apeing P5 rebellious chaos theming. Also why did they take out the yellow that was prevelant in a lot the menus?
