What I hate about the Sinnoh games is how the entirely new Pokémon pale in comparison to the new cross-gen evolutions. Like who in their right fricking mind would want to use something like Cherrim over Roserade or Leafeon? They’re statistically better and you don’t have to frick around with honey tree bullshit. Hell, you can evolve Eevee into Leafeon the moment you obtain it in Hearthome
No shit the cross-gen evos are meant to be strong; I wouldn't complain about it if the Sinnoh dex didn't rely so heavily on them. It becomes a glaring issue when so many of the entirely new mons are complete ass and have ridiculous encounter methods. You're genuinely moronic if you couldn't understand the point I was trying to make
There's a reason why you see an arrangement of those same 3 mons on everyone's Sinnoh team; they're some of the very few gems in a region of otherwise shitty mons. That you had to immediately resort to citing the game's OP psuedo legend as a counter argument is nothing short of a testament to just how shit most of the Sinnoh dex is.

all usuable non-cross-evo mons

Out of all of these, the only ones not extremely lategame are Gastrodon, Flotzel and Lopunny. The others are >safari zone locked >version exclusive >available long after the second half of the game >only available once a week >only available at/near postgame in DP
Or are part of the generic Sinnoh team.
The other anon is right DDPt's dex is so shit that everyone flocks to the same few Pokemon because they're the only new Pokemon available early and also aren't gutter trash like Kriketune.

Stop. None of this is an argument. You're adding a bunch of autistic criteria to pretend as if these Pokemon aren't available in the game at all. I've used them just fine. Just close the thread Black person.
They're still leagues ahead of Sinnoh's other newly-introduced grass-types. Cherrim, Carnivine, and Abomasnow are all shitmons with stupid encounter methods. If you want to use a Cherrim you have to wait 6 real-time hours, and even then best-case scenario you only have a 16% chance of finding one.
Tangrowth is actually pretty good but he's another fricking cross-gen evo. It's laughable how blatantly the Sinnoh dex shafts its entirely new mons and relies on cross-gen evos for a halfway-compotent roster.
Leave it to the compgay to take shit out of context. I was referring strictly to in-game performance.
Weather abilities are busted in competitive play, so of course those shitmons found use there. Problem is, that's not how in-game works. Cherrim's ability is never useful outside of competitive and its stats are shitty. Abomasnow is better but it comes up so late that you have no reason not to use the conventionally-superior cross-gen evos.
Now explain how ingame performance is magically different from competitive performance. Yeah I'm sure Cherrim struggles way more with npc jobbers with bad ivs and evs than with perfect pokemon used by human opponents.

Let's say that you're playing DPPt and you want to use an early-game grass-type. Assuming that you didn't choose Turtwig as your starter, your only real options are Cherubi and Budew.
On one hand, you obtain Budew right before the rock-type gym and can evolve it into Roselia right away by virtue of it being a happiness evo. A mon with 100 base Sp. Atk and STAB Mega Drain that early in the game is very useful. It does fall off a bit after the 5th gym, but its evolution requirement is met soon after. And once it reaches its final stage it's a fantastic sweeper. Overall a very reliable mon that gets shit done.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have Cherubi. Instead of being found in the grass near Jubilife, Cherubi is locked behind an incredibly tedious mechanic that is based entirely on luck. You have to wait 6 real-time hours to even get the opportunity to encounter one, and even then there's less than a 1/5 chance that you even will. As a Cherrim, its stats aren't awful, but they certainly aren't up to par with competition. It's ability, Flower Gift, raises it and its allies' Sp. Def & Atk during harsh sunlight. Seeing as how there are hardly any double battles in an in-game playthrough of DDPt, the chances of you ever taking advantage of this ability are next to none. Cherrim itself can't even benefit from the Atk & Sp. Def boosts, because it isn't a physical attacker and sun-boosted fire-type moves absolutely rape it regardless of its stat changes. It has no right being so infuriating to obtain when the end result is one of the worst grass-type options in a game in a region that otherwise has an abundance of them.
If you wouldn't rather use Budew in this situation then you are a full-fledged moron.

So I'm unable to use Cherubi because Budew is the better Pokemon? How does this logic not apply to other Pokemon games?

Nothing's stopping you from using Cherubi, you just have to recognize that it's undoubtedly shittier than any of Sinnoh's grass-type cross-gen evos, which was my original point.
no, kalosperms make threads shitting on sinnoh and unova. the hate for johto is organic. in fact many discorders will prop up HGSS for the sake of shitting on both platinum and gen 5.
I wish we still had jannies. All these "honest thoughts" threads are the laziest and gaygiest in a while, and thats on top of all the discord genwar and coomthreads we constsntly have. This board is a fricking mess. Even leak season is usually better
I agree the marsh was a bit of a disappointment. Lackluster pokemon and stupid stuck gimmick. Thankfully they rectified it later in HGSS, the best Safari Zone
Even though I hate all the "Safari Zone" areas (especially HGSS's and its terrible object system), I never had any issue with Carnivine and Skorupi.
Have you really been filtered this hard?

Obviously cross evos would be strong since they are upgrades over previous pokemon, you're complaining about nothing.

Who is Staraptor a cross evo of? Who is Garchomp a cross evo of? Who is Lucario a cross evo of?

you realise roserade is also a cross-gen evo yeah?
Cherrim is the best looking of the three.
Roserade is particularly insulting considering how ugly its flowers look compared to Roselia's.
leafeon sucks shit and roserade is lategame

cherrim won german nats in 2016 and hailroom with abomasnow was one of the best team archetypes from 2008 to 2013

Wormadam
Sinnoh is the peak of the series, thanks for noticing. I'm glad even a kalosperm like yourself can find brilliance in dppt
kalos is ok. Unova is the enemy.
Underaged kalos morons are the ones that keep making threads shitting on johto and sinnoh. The downfall of the franchise is crying about the peak.

lol newbie, years back the vitriol for Gen V was so strong that homosexual mods would delete and ban Unova hate threads specifically
>wahhh jannies back then did their job
????

Nice try kalosperm

No one understands what this image means but me lol
Gen 1's got the best safari zone here imo
Are these meant to be Safari Zone exclusives?
I'm sure it's wrong for Yellow
Half of those in Gen 1 are in Cerulean cave and its missing a bunch from Gen 4. Not sure I get this image
Even though I hate all the "Safari Zone" areas (especially HGSS's and its terrible object system), I never had any issue with Carnivine and Skorupi.

Kanto Safari zone really nailed it with how many rare and cool Pokemon they put in there.
I HATE WOBBUFFET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ehhhhhhh
