Furgay terminology, plantigrade legs = legs with knees that bend forward like humans
digitgrade legs = legs with knees that bend backwards like those of dogs, cats, horses, birds, etc…

correct me if im wrong but i thought it's not so much that the knees bend backwards as much as the bones are structured in a way that looks as though it's permanently standing on its toes, creating the appareance of a backwards knee

I mean it’s bipedal, so it has digitigrades like dinos. They also look more visually appealing and consistent with already existing pokemon design style. Plantigrade legs just look less monstrous and animalistic.

At least dinosaurs having digitigrades legs makes sense for lizard it doesn't

It does for permanently bipedal lizards though. All bipedals IRL overtime evolve digitigrade for efficient bipedal running. Humans are just new on the evolutionary scene and run around on modified hands, essentially. Look at ostriches and T rexes. Look at prosthetic legs for paralympian runners. Digitigrade’s better.

Nope. They’re a species. Maybe an individual pokemon can be a character, but not a pokemon design as a whole.

Nope. Species of monsters in a fictional world that fill the role of animals in their world. Some of them can be characters if they’re somehow distinct and reappear.

I already said there are characters among them if they reappear and are distinct. Not all of them are characters and species overall is not a character.

Since it became a genuine problem with designs constantly fricking repeating and not actually looking like monsters anymore.
This converses with Pokemon not looking like IRL animals one to one, which was never a real problem. The problem only arises when they’re literally just a fricking IRL animal with nothing different.

Bipedal reptiles are all digitigrade like dinosaurs. Muh temporary running doesn’t show evolution to bipedalism. Humans are just an exception because we just sprung into the evolution scene. Almost EVERY bipedal….anything is digitigrade.

Fakemons tend to suffer from one or more of the following
    >Uninspired design because the creator only cared about the raw concept without actually having a good idea for how to execute it. You saw this all the fricking time with dolphins and grass/fire peppers.
    >Tendency to have weird design elements that you never really see in pokemon, like unusual proportions or body shapes, being overly realistic objectmons, or being excessively detailed. This is a bit of a nebulous and subjective complaint but when you got a good feel for what a pokemon should be it's the biggest one that always makes fakemons look off.
    >The art is usually poor, with problems like bad perspective or lineart, that make it feel unprofessional.
