Amber died during the Rogue class campaign in Legion. Chromie is a Bronze Dragon, they oversee the timelines and make sure that shit goes the way that it is supposed to. Another set of dragons, who are corrupted versions of the Bronze Dragons, are constantly fricking with the timelines. I don't know anything about this specific quest, but presumably some Infinite Dragonflight fricked with the chain of events that led to Amber dying, and now the player has to go back and kill her themselves.
time travel ruins the stakes of any established franchises because they rewrite rules and pull random bs out.
Doesn't matter, the entirety of Shadowlands showed us what the afterlife is like, and made it possible to go back and forth between it. That destroyed the stakes to the point that the whole Warcraft universe is narratively pointless on a metaphysical level.

If we're being honest though Warcraft lore was always complete garbage. Much like with any media, you can only continue the story for so long before you start adding ridiculous shit that tarnishes the original story or legacy. Shadowlands is just a capitalist company pumping up an expired product to extract more money from it, just like any other.
WoW lore was garbage, but still interesting. It stopped being even that when the big mysteries started being solved and the payoff never turned out to be worth the wait.

I'm actually fairly satisfied with Argus. That was three whole zones plus a dungeon and a raid. You could have stretched it out to have been its own expansion, but we did get a lot of stuff in the single Argus patch.
At the very least it didn't get done as dirty as Nazjatar. We never even went to Nazjatar city itself and had to settle for exploring the outskirts of the city, and that patch had to share the screen time with the asspull zone Mechagon.
I don't disagree, but I see the same pattern across all media. Anything that's overly hyped, anything that's been anticipated for too long, and even anything that has a conclusion is almost always sure to disappoint. It is very rare for any media to come to a satisfying conclusion. Often times it's better to end something before it concludes so it can be remembered at its peak and let people talk about where it could have gone next
