The gameplay is great though. I don't see why people don't like it. Better than FO4's imo which just feels like a mediocre/shitty shooter instead of a RPG with fps elements.
>Better than FO4's imo which just feels like a mediocre/shitty shooter instead of a RPG with fps elements.
FO4's "mediocre" shooting is way, way, way better than the fricking boring ass clunky FPS with no RPG elements at all apart from gear having arbitrary stat requirements shit that is NV.
FO4 main quest splits off way early than NV's does. NV basically has a glorified "chose your ending" whereas FO4 has entire paths laid out for all the different factions that are mutually exclusive. You can absolutely see more of NV's content in a single playthrough than FO4's. This is just an objective fact.

But there's no reason to replay it at all because the institute route is shit and moronic and the other 3 routes are identical besides the ending.

This is every route except BOS where you replace the teleporter with rehashing Fallout 3's glorified cutscene where le meme robot kills everything for you and drags on for 30 minutes

Too bad FO4's content is all shit.

There is no replay in FO4. It’s not at all an rpg, half the fricking dialogue is an illusion of choice where you get 3-4 options and the response from the npc is identical no matter what you choose.
there's more to gameplay than pure combat >modern good game >FO4 >good game
Also it's 8 years old.
Somehow they even fricked up Pip Boy of all things. You would think that they would make it more readable, since they're even more console oriented, but no Pip Boy became overbloated mess, where there's no even notes or key tab.
Modern Bethesda's balancing is trash. You either choose a semi auto receiver that deals actual damage, or full auto receiver that turn the weapon into a peashooter that wastes ammo.
Repair also took a good role in previous games. Especially in Fallout 3, where there was no weapon variety whatsoever. You couldn't just hoard on guns to sell them, you had to repair them to make them valuable. In FO4 they removed it and in Starfield random weapons with attachments cost more money than a spaceship.
Not to mention the constant focus on crafting that started with 4.
I think new vegas was the real harbinger of collecting mountains of trash for crafting, but since bethesda seems hell bent on ignoring everything good that game did I suppose skyrim crafting was the real start for them
I play older games all the time and New Vegas is quite literally the only one I find missing something in terms of gun feeling. I have games like Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Far Cry 1, Soldier of Fortune 1+2+3, Doom 3, Chronicles of Riddick, vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield, Vampire Bloodlines, etc. installed and never had an issue with any of them despite playing them in 2023 after trying modern games.
nta but its great after a lot of mods... you can get it working at 144 fps wtih no stuttering and modern feeling FPS mouse aim, i even did a little mod myself where i replaced some of the combat music from random music from quake etc, it was always fun to not hear one of the tracks for hours then at random it just starts blasting descent to cerberon or something
>FO4's "mediocre" shooting is way, way, way better
No, it isn't, and that's extremely sad. I don't know what is it about modern shooters but they all miss the mark badly, your precious Zoom included.
I have it installed, but I find it slightly too jank to continue. I am not sure what it is, but the gun feeling seems a bit weird. Is there a mod that makes the guns feel more normal and closer to games like Far Cry 1 or Half-Life 2?
I've heard good things about the game, but something "feels off" in it.
>You only get hip fire (I am not joking)
Not true. Fallout 3 may not have an animation to stick the gun in the center of the screen but it does have what is functionally iron sights.
No, you're just following the crosshair. That's not ironsights.
fallout 3 is worse. You only get hip fire (I am not joking), other than that they are the same feeling wise since NV is a glorified mod for f3
Not if you play FO3 in TTW, which is worth another playthrough.

The only thing TTW taught me is that game mechanics were the least of fallout 3's problems. Couldn't get past rivet city before realizing I was still playing a game for toddlers
>but the gun feeling seems a bit weird
Maybe you should stop being moronic then.
"It feels jank".
Why don't you just google the particular thing you find janky and see that there have been fixes for those issues for years?
I recommend everyone to play FONV without the radio. The OST is extremely good and even tastefully includes tracks from FO1/FO2.
Imagine exploring Vault 22 and not listening to Vault of the Future for example, or exploring the desert without Metallic Monks, but to some random rockabilly cover made in the 1980s. Eugh.
>I recommend everyone to play FONV without the radio.
I think everyone does that after hearing that small handful of songs for the billionth time. Even before I was halfway through of my first playthrough of all these Fallout games the radio was off and has stayed off ever since.
I think a lot of fallout fans that got into the IP thru FO3/FO4 prefer the radio, since that's how I played FO3 the first time, and I think it kinda fits FO3 since it's more of a wacky themepark compared to the more grounded and serious world of NV.
>I recommend everyone to play FONV without the radio.
Exploring the open world is boring as fricking without the radio or just any open world in general.
I had to play FNV radio while playing RDR2.
I’ve played fallout 4 for 30 hours, never beat it, every time I tried to get back into it I got bored too fast.
I do a new Vegas run almost annually to completion. It’s not even close, fallout 4 is a shitty coomer mod shooter while NV is an rpg.
Be honest, do you actually bother to save the vault 34 survivors? First time I did the quest I didn't because I assumed they left the message long ago and were already dead considering there was no real indication as to how long ago the whole vault went to shit just that it was after the boomers left, turns out I killed them. Still when you think about how important crops and non irradiated water are, can I really risk that many lives for a small handful of vault dwellers?
The gameplay is great though. I don't see why people don't like it. Better than FO4's imo which just feels like a mediocre/shitty shooter instead of a RPG with fps elements.
I really like NV, but its gameplay is pretty shit
>Better than FO4's imo which just feels like a mediocre/shitty shooter instead of a RPG with fps elements.

despite FO4 gun feel being decent, I would much rather replay New Vegas or 3 for the 10th time than replay FO4 again
>I would rather play old bad games with no replay value over a modern good game with much improved gameplay
okay
>FO4
>replay value
lmfao

NV and even 3 have better replay value and gameplay than 4, objectively
Nah not really, with mods NV has better dismemberment and gunplay
Which mods?
I play older games all the time and New Vegas is quite literally the only one I find missing something in terms of gun feeling. I have games like Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Far Cry 1, Soldier of Fortune 1+2+3, Doom 3, Chronicles of Riddick, vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield, Vampire Bloodlines, etc. installed and never had an issue with any of them despite playing them in 2023 after trying modern games.

They hated him because he spoke the truth
I'm with you, FNV gunplay is pretty neat especially if you play a cowboy type character with repeaters and revolvers
its unironically my favorite gunplay out of any game
I have it installed, but I find it slightly too jank to continue. I am not sure what it is, but the gun feeling seems a bit weird. Is there a mod that makes the guns feel more normal and closer to games like Far Cry 1 or Half-Life 2?

It's a RPG you mong. Put some skills into guns to get better.
the gun feel is the worst in the industry, yet it's one of my favourite games
It's an RPG pretending to be an FPS. Of course the gunplay/combat is garbage.
Is it the same with Fallout 3?
fallout 3 is worse. You only get hip fire (I am not joking), other than that they are the same feeling wise since NV is a glorified mod for f3

>grenade machinegun
What? I don't remember that

because the ost in fo3 was kind of lame. it wasn't bad, it was just a bit too "epic and shit".
The OST is basically fallout 1's. Of course it's good
absolutely goated

Fallout 3 was better even though new vegas was closer to the goat fallout 2. The desert was just so boring

try Far Harbor it's a far cry from the base game and only decent content in FO4
So in what way is this game political exactly?
If you're going to necrobump threads at least post something worth talking about
It's been a couple years since my last 70 hour playthrough. Getting that itch again but I've got so many other games to play. Frick.
was just thinking of doing an explosives playthrough, any mods to make it better?
mojave arsenal is practically mandatory
I play it for the big boomer with coin shot
