it's literally a circle. it has none of the interesting branching and backtracking that previous regions had. it's ok to acknowledge that a game you like is flawed anon.
>branching
Almost every route has more than two major entrances on it. It has great breadth, but not much depth. >backtracking
It's about on par with Gen 1, give or take, surf is especially notable in both games
Did you mean that it's not non-linear? Good, JRPGs go to shit the moment the turn non-linear. Look at the midgame of Gen 1 and how much of a slog it is.
being forced to go in a straight line then having to backtrack hours later just to go in a different straight line isn’t exploration
Kalos route 20 is exploration
Kalos Route 20 is one of the shittiest Lost Woods in gaming, not fun or interesting at all. Lost Hotel is the only well designed map in that entire game, honestly.
> Kalos Route 20 is one of the shittiest Lost Woods in gaming, not fun or interesting at all
I’m sorry you got filtered because Burgh wasn’t there to tell you where to go
>Did you mean that it's not non-linear?
No, I mean quite literally it is just a circle. That's just not exciting no matter how you slice it. All other regions up to that point just had way more interesting maps.
Route =/= region design BTW. I said I like the route design, there really are some well designed maps. I just don't get how you can defend the region map being literally a circle. Coming from Hoenn and Sinnoh, it was a huge let down.

oh, and should I add, you don't even complete the circle until postgame. the story is literally just in a half circle that you go in a straight line.
it's not about being linear or not. Hoenn and Sinnoh were mostly linear, but the way the region was designed had you looping back in on places and made backtracking feel natural (not the same thing as backtracking to a route just to use surf for a hidden item, but actually integrated into your journey)
Why do zoomers always parrot this "it's a circle" argument as if every other game isn't extremely linear too? It's like that tree problem in good will hunting. They see the mapb render and think it's representative of route design when every game since hoenn has never offered a branching pathway.
B/W has tons of propper exploration, but you guys rushed through game that you jhavent even fricking noticed that.

I don’t really hate Unova and think that the exploration WITHIN areas is usually pretty decent, but the the macro, region-wide exploration is legitimately dogshit and probably one of the most disappointing aspects of the region.
With past regions, you wouldn’t be able to tell what you’d be exploring and when just by checking the map at the beginning of the game, that was something you’d have to discover incrementally as you played through the game and discovered where you could go and where you’d be blocked off until later. That was a huge part of the satisfaction of exploring those regions. Unova is basically completely devoid of that because, as others have said, it’s just a linear string of City - route - dungeon (maybe) - City, etc etc. There are optional side areas, sure, but they don’t ever go anywhere, they’re just little self contained pockets off the side of the main path that you can explore if you want. Makes the adventure too straightforward imo.
>S-SEE? YOU CAN BACKTRACK TO A PREVIOUS AREA AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
I could already do this in the previous regions without the region itself being a straight line.
They're going too far now. People are starting to hate Borts for being wienery despite having a fairly average set of games.
Gen 1 and 2 are the kings of optional paths. The fact that Unovagays think their games invented this is mindblowing levels of delusion.
>gen 2
Ah, so the rivalry of old between Toddler and Bort continues.
You almost had a good post there, you could've elevated it if you praised LGPE for making Kanto even more open.
Yea I keep recommended this and I can’t bring myself to watch it. Choice and exploration are probably the 2 things it does worse than any of the Gens before it
Pro tip, if you dislike the video you will stop being recommended by the algorithm as well as having that unovatroony cope recommended to other viewers. Let the trannies starve.
I didn't watch the video, but just looking at the thumbnail, it's not hard to tell what they mean. Choice could be related to infinite TMs with the CD and only using new mons with the Pokeball, making teambuilding more flexible and diverse. Exploration could be related to fully exploring the secret areas in each location, like the optional Castelia buildings and Abundant Shrine. Not rocket science.
>only new mon >more choice
But that's fricking wrong too because the Pokemon availability in unova is dogshit >Oh you advanced the story here are 4 new pokemon for you to play with >all the way up to the fricking victory road making some Pokemon utterly pointless to use and with moronic level evo requirements
If you want a region with vast choices for team building you go for Kanto where 98% of the regional dex is unlocked after Koga
Yeah, you're right. You're sitting on a mongolian basket weaving forum seething about the fact that people like a Pokémon game released in 2010, while you're saying >that game you like? it's actually... LE BAD!
basically telling a lie.
It’s weird how unova fanboys think unova invented routes having optional paths
Hoenn and Sinnoh already did that without making the region insultingly linear
Don't care unova still peak, disbort cucks
Maybe Sonic would be more your speed since you love gargling horse diarrhea
>STOP LIKING UNOVA STOP STOP STOP
Don't agree with the vid, but Gen 5 is still in my top 3 in the series
It literally does both of those thing the worst.
Unova had good route design, but poor region design. I still like the games although I acknowledge their flaws.
>but poor region design

Because every other game isn't extremely linear too.
I can't tell if you're moronic or just have never played anything besides pokemon.
Neither. Gen 5 is objectively extremely linear compared to Pokemon games before and after it.
I don’t really hate Unova and think that the exploration WITHIN areas is usually pretty decent, but the the macro, region-wide exploration is legitimately dogshit and probably one of the most disappointing aspects of the region.

gen 5 is good solely because it makes pisscord rage daily, anything that makes this shit board seethe is automatically good.
That means that becoming trans is good, so when do you transition xirster?
>REEEEE YOU MUST BE A troony troony troony-
I kek everytiem
Yet trannies make this board seethe all the time. Your logic is flawed then, moronerino chuderino. Kys.
We aren't seething, we're laughing.
capped
so much for "the pisscord doesn't exist, schizo"
>cry about it and make genwar threads targeting it and every other game you don’t like for literal years
>”w-we aren’t seething”
Okay.

this homie better be talking about bw2 unova because bw1 unova is the worst for exploration by a mile and even SM have more optional areas
>Unova is le bad!
You guys are doing this for months
It's really pathetic
they can't help themselves
Well, you have no accountability for that in this fanbase.
They're going too far now. People are starting to hate Borts for being wienery despite having a fairly average set of games.

It's weird that he made the video about BW and not B2W2 which are significantly better in every way
>corridorkeks fighting for second place

>NOOOOO WHY ARE THERE BLACK PEOPLE IN NYC, THE ONLY REGION INSPIRATION WITH A LOT OF BLACKS ANYWAY??!!!!
No, that's just you. Stop being obsessed and that wouldn't happen.
