Quite literally, endgame stuff; if you're going to spam, 99x of them is 297,000. You might as well use Box Legendaries while at it.

people watch speedrunners grind runs. speedrunners don’t use hacks to skip boring sections and unskippable cutscenes then call themselves the “best HGSS speedrunner in the world.” werster would shit all over them

        Anonymous

A speed run is most of the time a couple of hours with little to no grind (X-items, potions in battles, legendaries allowed).
An EK HC nuzlocke is usually months if not years. EVEN with RCs and FRs hacked in. Now imagine if you would have to grind.
Also speedrunning is a community challenge, competing with other people. Nuzlockes are NOT a competition. It is a self imposed challenge for YOU and no one else.

GRINDING IS TOO HARD. This Jan guy would get his ass blasted by any classic or even modern JRPG, especially Fire Emblem.

jan wants to play single player battle sim with random drafting instead of an RPG but slaps the recognizable nuzlocke label because he’s a lazy greedy frick

  8. 9 months ago

    >overcome challenges
Running back and forth to Pokemon Centers is just time waste, and he cannot use the FRs in battles. So is grinding since after a certain skill level you never lose Pokémon to grinds. Sure you do in your let's say 2-3 nuzlockes but after that It is the same if you grind or hack in RCs.

Then he's a shitty streamer. A good streamer will make the most boring shit interesting. I watched an entertaining Sekiro challenger/speedrunner beat people up with no sword and he was jumping around a huge ape boss for 1.5h and it was the funniest shit ever thanks to his commentary.

but maybe consider then that nuzlockes are pretty fricking terrible "content"?
Even the base idea at its core is a personalized run, something that doesn't really work if you don't feel any kind of attachment to what's being used.
Pokemon is also a slow, boring, easy game to stream and how these nuzlockers play it even with rare candies is slow, boring and easy. No one wants to watch that shit, Pchal specifically got big off leeching from bigger streamers and people jump on the nuzlocke train as a joke and then immediately hop off

Treating Nuzlockes as challenging in any way is pure roleplay. It's a gimmick for streamers to add tension for the viewers to stick around. While it's not difficult, it's easy to be careless, especially for a streamer who is incentivized to create risky situations for content.

Jan however, is a true innovator that takes Nuzlockes to a new level. It's no longer just a wacky playtrough. He goes as far as to roleplay that it is actually difficult, difficult enough for it to have enough sttategic value to the point where you can ignore rpg-progression I applaud him. There's no way I would be able to do what he does without breaking character.

I saw his collab with Ludwig and this guy was relying on documentations to play the game and build a perfect team, then seethe hard when the documentation was wrong. Ludwig is unironically a better nuzlocker because he didn't rely on documentation

Its incredibly funny that he wants to do the exact opposite of the point of Nuzlockes.
Like I get that modern Nuzlockes are sort of an abberation at this point anyway; but Nuzlockes are literally meant to be just playing a random hand essentially.

lol nuzlockes have level caps and rare candies make you lose out on EVs so if anything you are at a disadvantage
I don't see how people would have a problem with this, not everyone is a basement dwelling neet with all the time in the world on their hands, the end result is the same anyways

Some romhacks don't have EVs and they're usually the one they advertise as "le ebin hardest romhack nuzlock ever made you won't believe what happen in the 5th gym!!!!"

    >games become so unplayably horseshit by your own self-imposed rules that you have to skip 99% of the actual gameplay in order for your audiences to not die of boredom watching you try to play the game
Nuzlocking is a bubble on the verge of bursting. Everyone is teetering dangerously close to the edge of realizing that they don't actually like Pokemon for Pokemon.

  20. 9 months ago

Not that I'm defending this annoying little gay but the romhacks he attempts to nuzlocke are so autistically hard that it takes like 50 attempts and he doesn't wanna grind levels.
    That's his reasoning I suppose.

what's the point of playing if you don't have to deal with wild encounters being any sort of danger?

        Anonymous

I play nuzlockes and while I've lost a couple of team members to wild encounters and grinding its just not nearly as dangerous as gyms

        then don't play the romhacks
or better yet, just play the romhacks without all the autistic fricking rules about level caps and whatever if it's too le hard

it isn't even 'hard' what he does most of the time anyway, it's some insane lottery that's still boring as frick to watch because he spends 8 hours on every boss battle prepping until someone in his chat gives him the answer to win

I'm not him and I don't play romhacks. Also not defending him but I can see this is his logic. At face value I think its kinda gay too, but if I did the same type of shit as him would I do this? Maybe so.
        >insane lottery
Yeah that's what stops me from nuzlocking romhacks. its just too autistic. It can't be fun

    >Beat the next boss with as few deaths as possible while staying at or under the level cap
That's a Nuzlocke. Resource management is a moot point, since virtually no entry does it. Emerald Rogue basically invalidates all other Pokemons if you want to play this way.
Nuzlocke is also cancerous because it draws attention to "QoL" hacks, which are creatively bankrupt and conceptually limited. Why bother coming up with a solution to e.g. resource management or HMs if your audience has been conditioned to request their absence?
